Hollyhock House

The propert is lovely, quaint and unusual in its layout, which greatly pleased our grandchildren. The grounds surrounding the house are delightful. Our host was very accommodating, which we much appreciated.

Perfect Cotswold home for a large family

Our family (6 adults and 3 children ages 7-8) loved the property. There was plenty of room for everyone and the children loved the playground and, especially the Arctic Cabin. The backyard provided everyone with hours of viewing fun as deer, rabbits, pheasants and plenty of other birds were always around. They were never bored. We used our rental home as a base to explore the Cotswolds. Blenheim Palace (15 min), Cotswold Wildlife Park (25 minutes), Stratford Upon Avon (30 minutes), Warwick Castle (40 minutes) were all places we enjoyed as well as catching a train from Oxford Parkway to London (1 hr 5 min) for a day trip. The house is located in Stonesfield which has a small market and a recently reopened pub (on the day we left) but towns where we visited for stores and restaurants included Witney (10 min), Woodstock (10 min), Charlbury (10 min). All of the restaurants we visited were wonderful and had menus that were diverse enough to accommodate all of our family. The home itself is a bit quirky and the layout takes awhile to get used to with a couple of stairways leading to the upstairs. The house was well stocked with plates, glasses, silverware, etc. It is a place we would go back to again.

Ladies get together

Beautiful house with luxurious and comfortable rooms. It was perfect for our group of 8 women have a lovely reunion weekend together. Heidi was available and helpful with a couple of things.

Enchanting!

A super interesting family home. Comfortable and cosy with lots of history . Very nice touches and well resouced kitchen. The setting is stunning and village is beautiful to walk around and explore. Thank you Heidi for the attention to detail and making us welcome.

Tucked away in delightful village. Lots of bedroom space and well stocked kitchen. Good dog walk on Oxfordshire Way nearby. Worth checking heating/hot water program timings on arrival.

Americans in England

Our extended family—children and their spouses, grandchildren, and children’s in-laws—all stayed or stopped by during our six-week visit and the house and grounds were perfect for us. The children loved playing in the magical gardens, we had family cookouts, and the setting was peaceful and great for long walks in the beautiful countryside. Our hostess was super-responsive to any and all questions and requests. We look forward to returning.

A wonderful stay in the Cotswolds

Our 3 generation family loved the stay. My wife & I celebrated our 40th anniversary with our kids and grandkids. Our 5 & 7 year old loved the garden and playground, and the adults loved how contained it is to keep track of them :) The house has a wonderful charm to it, and easily accomodate all 10 of us. Not to miss is the wonderful walk through the Beech Tree Forest just 200 yards away. Our 10 day stay was great. Tom T.

Great place for an old friends' reunion

Hollyhock House was a wonderful place to share with old college friends for an extended reunion. A beautiful, well appointed, house, meticulously kept. The gardens are excellent and BBQ in the "arctic hut" was an added bonus. Nearby Oxford Way makes for great walks. If gthe village had a pub it would have been perfect but the Duke of Marlborough, only 2.5 miles away, filled in nicely. Our host, Heidi, gets it just right. The house had everything we could ask for, from crisp linens, to coffee makers in every bedroom. Heidi is quick and responsive (and just up the street) but left us to our own devices to enjoy this great house.

Rural Retreat

Lovely house, ideal accommodation for our family time away. Very quiet location. Hollyhock House provided all the facilities and amenities we needed enabling us to spend time together. We would certainly go again.

Fantastic family house

We had a wonderful weekend in this very comfortable and well equipped home, and particularly loved the garden and arctic hut, with access to the woods and countryside beyond. Excellent for all ages!

New Years Family Gathering

Fantastic stay at this wonderful property. Our two families (14 in total and one dog) gathered to celebrate New Year's Eve. Met by Heidi and shown around, nothing too much trouble. Kitchen well equipt, plenty of room in lounge and dining area for our group. Beds really comfy. Arctic Cabin a real unique feature that we all used and enjoyed. Adjoining fields for exercising the dog and we had a lovely look around the village. We enjoyed a black tie / karaoke night on New Year's Eve in the property, again plenty of room for us all. Luckily for us nobody was starting a break on our last day so Heidi very kindly let us stay in the property until the afternoon. Lucky because nobody was awake at 10.00am so a lovely brunch before we had to leave. Our only disappointment was that the break went so quickly and we all had to leave. Hopefully we will all meet up here again at some point. Thanks again Heidi.

Lovely village farm house property.

A lovely house with much attention to detail in many areas but lacking in some. For instance: Quality linen provided, beds comfortable, kettles and tea/coffee in rooms. Complimentary shower gels and soaps provided. Pixie hut delightful(coals and wood provided). House beautifully trimmed for xmas. A large selection of DVDs to view and Netflix. However steps up to lounge very steep and no hand rail so not suitable for people with mobility issues. Seating in lounge tight for 14 people. Some taps were on the loose side and kitchen tap leaked.(No plug for kitchen skin). Both bathrooms were both ensuite which wasn't always convenient as there was 14 people staying. No down stairs shower so again not ideal for immobile. Log burner was in snug rather than lounge so not able to use as snug was being used for a bed room. Overall our stay was very pleasant and the negative aspects minor. The owner was very friendly and helpful. I know she is still working on aspects of the property. The garden would be much appreciated in the summer. The village is pretty(there is a shop and pub) and lots of country walks surround it.

Family wedding weekend

Hollyhock House was perfect for our family and bridesmaids to stay for our daughter's wedding weekend. This pretty cottage with it's stylish interiors provided the perfect backdrop for the photos of the morning's preparations. The spacious and light dining room with its large dining table and great views was a lovely place to gather for meals and chat. Heidi the owner was very friendly and accommodating and very quick to respond to emails. We would thoroughly recommend this lovely cottage.

Amazing house, charming village and very accommodating hostess!

Wonderful weekend away. The house was spacious with nice large communal areas. We stayed in the middle of winter and got snowed in but despite this the house was warm and cozy. Heidi (the hostess) was incredibly helpful with that and allowed us to stay on an extra night as we couldn’t get home which helped us enormously. We had one small issue with the hot water turning off but that was fixed very quickly. She was also very helpful generally and even went to the trouble of getting us some supplies for when we arrived. A wonderful stay and I couldn’t recommend it enough for a weekend away with friends or family. Excellently positioned for a walk around the Cotswolds, with some excellent traditional atmospheric pubs and a proper village experience

A truly beautiful house

We had a family get together at the house for a 3 day break, we enjoyed the house and the garden was great, and well equipped with lots to do. The Artic cabin was fantastic, we had hours of fun in there. Heidi and her family were very helpful.

Very nice property! Cozy, clean and very enjoyable!

We had a great time! We had lovely meals at the big dining table, enjoyed wonderful walks through the woods nearby, visited Bleninheim Palace and even went to a horse and dog show! The highlight of the house is definitely the "barbecue hut"! The owners Heidi and her husband Andy were very helpful, showed us everything and gave us tips on the places to go. We would definitely recommend Hollyhock House and will probably be back!

A luxurious house in the Cotswolds with the added bonus of an arctic cabin

We had a fantastic 3 night stay at Hollyhock House for a family get together. The owners Heidi and Andy were so friendly and accommodating and the perfect hosts. The house is beautifully equipped and furnished, and the beds were all really comfortable. There was no need for us siblings to fight over the best room as they were all so well furnished. At the end of the beautiful garden is a large arctic cabin which easily fit all 11 of us for a bbq and a fire. Through the garden we enjoyed lovely walks in the woods where the dog could safely be off the lead. All in all, highly recommended and a perfect spot to explore the Cotswolds. Many thanks Heidi and Andy and hopefully we'll see you again.

Wonderful retreat!

We enjoyed a fabulous long weekend at Hollyhock cottage. 3 generations under one roof, plenty of space for us all. The BBQ hut was amazing and we spent many hours there enjoying each other's company. Heidi and Andy are wonderful hosts, Heidi's correspondence to share ideas and offer things to do was super. Many thanks toy you both, we will be back!
