What a beautiful comfortable place to stay. Everything we needed was provided as far as comforts for a weekend. It was a perfect gathering place for our kids and their families. All rooms were spacious. We liked that the only TV is the basement as it required us to mingle together. The breakfast nook was perfect as we prepared for our day. The larger dining table is perfect for a sit down dinner and game playing. For those who wanted a campfire the location was great. The porches were very inviting as well. We appreciated the hassle free check out too. I would say our stay was a A Thank you for sharing your place.

Attention to detail is what makes this property work. Our family enjoyed playing yard and board games. The nature trails were beautiful too! The owners were accommodating. One of our family members will be back for golf outing. Thanks again for everything!

My family stayed here for a second time and we loved it even more this time! The property is beautiful, clean, and well maintained. We loved being able to watch a storm from the front porch. We love the trail on property as well. The big dining table is a plus as all 8 of us gathered there for meals. The kitchen is well stocked. We love being able to bring our dogs and the dogs enjoyed all the outside space. We will hopefully be back next summer!

Lovely wooded retreat

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the WI cabin, which was cozy and welcoming. The property was very well maintained and had a nice balance of rustic and high-end features. The hosts were great to work with and very communicative. We stayed at the cabin while visiting the Sand Valley resort nearby for a few rounds of golf (resort was sold out but this was a fantastic alternative!).

Beautiful Cabin, Wonderful Family Get Together

From the moment we drove up the driveway, we knew we'd made the correct decision when choosing this stunning property. Immediately you could tell this cabin was as advertised, warm, inviting and perfect for a large family gathering. From the spacious kitchen, plenty of seating dining room, to large, comfortable bedrooms (great beds,) and bathrooms, this place was decorated beautifully and had all the comforts of home, and then some! (That tub in the Primary Bathroom was amazing!!) We knew 5 minutes in that we'd want to rent this cabin again, and we cannot wait to do so. Thanks so much to the gracious hosts for accommodating a few of our requests, it meant the world to us. Until Next time...

cozy luxe cabin for winter fun

we booked this cabin because we wanted a place big enough for the whole family, kids and grandkids, to have a long winter fun weekend. The cabin is very well maintained, multiple cozy places to congregate, sit by the fire, play games, cook and eat great meals. it is very well equipped with everything you need, both inside and outside where there are lovely trails in the woods and a very nice fire pit. All of it is very updated, and the owners were very helpful with instructions but not at all intrusive with rules and such. we were able to ski and tube in the area, and play in the snow in the yard. love all of it!

Feels like coming Home

Walking into this house felt like coming home. We did not want to leave. It is listed as “Stunning Log Cabin” and it truly was! This cabin was the perfect Christmas getaway for our family of 10 adults and one baby. The cabin was very clean, the kitchen well stocked for whatever you need and the bedrooms were comfortable and accommodated everyone. The cabin was beautifully decorated, and John & Claudia made sure the setting was perfect for our Christmas celebration, complete with Christmas music upon our arrival. We enjoyed all the extras including the use of the garage, the 2 outdoor grills, the claw foot tub, infrared sauna, and a great coffee station with many options! I loved that each room had a fireplace that was easy to turn on and off. It certainly added to the ambiance of this trip. We enjoyed the nature trail and took advantage of this beautiful setting for our family photos. Friends are already asking about our weekend getaway location. I would highly recommend this beautiful home and look forward to our return trip.

Wedding weekend

Our stay at John & Claudia’s guesthouse made our celebration of our daughter’s wedding extra special! With it being only 5 minutes from the venue and close to town made it very easy and stress free to relax and just enjoy the whole experience. The guesthouse was clean and decorated beautifully for our fall wedding weekend. There was plenty of space for our immediate family and our now newly extended immediate family. This guesthouse made our experience complete as we could spend time with everyone and for everyone to get to know each other even more. If you have a wedding in your future or you are looking for a quiet country setting to relax you should definitely check out this guesthouse. Awesome place and time. Thank you again John & Claudia for completing our celebration with this beautiful place and easy process of check in and out!

Cozy Cabin

Our group of 8 adults aged 43-75 stayed 4 nights in August. We all loved the cabin. We came to relax and unwind and this was the perfect setting. The cabin is super clean. The kitchen is well stocked. The bedrooms were comfortable. It was nice not having a tv on the ground floor as it led to more quiet time and more time to converse. The yard and nature trail were beautiful. Our dogs had a great time in the yard. We appreciated wood was left to use in the fire pit. The dining room table was a great size for us. The basement was great at night with the bar and the tv as people could hang out down there and not disturb others who were sleeping on the other floors. The front porch became a great spot to sit during the day with the comfortable rockers and swing. The hosts were super nice and laidback. John went so far as to track down where they bought the rocking chairs on the porch for us. If you are traveling with mobility challenged people this might not be the house for you. There are no railings on any of the outside stairs into the house. Also the beds except the bunk beds are all very high. One thing that would enhance the experience would be to invest in new dining room chairs. I get the current chairs are meant to go with the vibe of the house but none of them are really comfortable. All in all though it is a great cabin and we would absolutely stay here again.

Fun Family Time Together!

This was the third time our family has stayed at The Gambrel Guesthouse. John and Claudia are wonderful hosts! The house is very clean and well stocked; the yard is large enough for bags, baseball, badminton, etc. There is a great firepit with lots of wood for s'mores, pudgy pies, etc A nice lake/beach is nearby. Many fun memories were made! Thanks!

Fantastic Cabin in the Woods

I had four guys up to play golf at Sand Valley and this was a super location and outstanding cabin! The fire pit was perfect after a round to relax on a cool evening. The pool table was a hit as well! All the beds were super comfy, showers/bath had great pressure and plenty of hot water. It was super quiet for sleeping and great coffee in the morning! We will be back next year and in the years to come! John was a great host!!!!! Highly recommended!!!
