Check in was at 3pm and we did not get our room until 6:30pm. Once we got our room a severe storm came through and knocked power out at 7:30pm. People ran to the stairwell to get down to lobby. We all ended up stuck in the ground floor stairwell. The door to the lobby had a sheared off door handle that was not openable. So we were trapped with adults freaking out and kids crying. Once the storm ended we sat in the car for awhile to cool down because the hotel was so hot from no power. When going back in there were three guys with jeans, gold chains, and un button shirts smoking outside. They looked sketchy and not friendly at all. Come to find out one of them was the GM and another was the front desk. The front desk had hot bottle water and granola bar for the inconvenience. I emailed the GM (sketchy dude) about our issues and this was “his” response I guess. Comfort Inn GM in Newton, KS The door your complaining about is supposed to be an exit only, Which we have checked with fire department and is ok since its an exit only. I am upset to see people were propping it open. We were encouraging people to leave that night with a full refund to find a hotel with electric. Im sorry we can not help things like a tornado. I will refund you however,if you have a way to stop natural disasters like that please inform us how? Why didnt you say something to the GM who was down stairs handing out bottled water and snacks half the night?

The room I was given had some load noise periodically outside the building. The elevator needs attention…I believe this was possibly the noise that echoing through the building. Room was well keep and staff was friendly and helpful.

With how affordable my familys 2 night stay was, we didn't expect to much from this hotel before we arrived. To our surprise the location was in a great area and the outside was very clean. When we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff and Inside our suite was even better. It smelled clean, looked great and we could smell that they use a little bit of bleach to clean their sheets. We didn't get a chance to use the pool but it seemed clean. They also provided breakfast and it was pretty tasty. Overall, great stay for this family of 6.

They had no record of our reservation, which had been prepaid on expedia. They were able to put us in a room but it took forever. The hotel smelled funny and was not in the best condition. On the plus side the beds were comfortable and the heat & air worked well.

First couldn’t find reservation, room did not have a clean feeling or smell, bathroom toilet was not clean. The hot water handle in sink was broken and the front desk was asked to send someone to fix while we were out for the day. They never fixed it. We were there four nights.

Really Disappointed.
Extremely disappointed. This hotel was not only filthy in the hallways and elevator but the funk around the edges of the room was incredibly horrifying. There were unsavory people in the parking lot most of the night and it was just horribly disappointing all together.

This place was a dump. There were flies in our room, the bathroom was grimy, the keys rarely worked-I had to keep asking the front desk to reset them. The front desk was messy and the workers were inattentive. The pool was so warm it was unpleasant to swim in, and we overall just felt a little dirty and unwelcome. Would not stay again.

Disappointed
This hotel got good customer reviews so that’s why I chose it but not very clean in public areas. No attendant in breakfast area to clean tables, etc. Thought room didn’t seem dirty but on leaving found someone else’s clothes in a corner so apparently not cleaned thoroughly. These days we pay more and get less ☹️

Was not clean at all. Had a no smoking policy however the hotel still smelled like cigarettes.

Avoid the Newton, KS Comfort Inn
Staff was friendly enough but when we called about our TV having no sound or channel listing (3 times), we were given the excuse that it was because Cox Cable is not very good. Shower only produced a drizzle from the shower head and most of the water shooting out of the faucet. Again another excuse with the problem not being fixed. The lamp between the beds had an outlet with no cover and was dangerously exposed. Another excuse but the front desk did not seem concerned. The complimentary breakfast was missing several items such as milk for the cereal. Of all of the employees we saw, only the cleaning ladies wore uniforms with name tags. Most employees were dressed in street clothes, not even professional attire. We had to ask to have our room cleaned, trash emptied and fresh towels. Never was there anyone at the front desk. They were either outside smoking or in the back. When we checked out, the front desk person said she couldn’t give us a discount for all of the problems because that privilege was taken away from her, but would call her general manager. I won’t hold my breath. Very disappointing experience. We normally have a great experience with Comfort Inn.

When I got to the room, the entire bathroom had to be cleaned again, hair all over the tub, sink and top. The hotel was out of all hand soap, during the night sounded like someone was dumping rocks into a dumpster about every hour. Extremely loud. I’ve stayed in motel 6’s better than this place especially at the premium price I was charged.
