"The Wedding of Her Dreams"

Where do I begin?...This spot is where my daughter & her fiancé wanted to marry. The Rappahannock carries special meaning for them...it's where they began their love story, and where they were engaged. Pop Castle is a warm, beautiful place for an event...only surpassed by the warmth and kindness of it's owners. The home is historic, well-maintained, and so comfortable! No detailsforgotten. Amazing kitchen! Bathrooms immaculate and the most comfy beds! This is truly a place for relaxation and sharing joy with friends & family! It has every amenity for a large gathering...beautiful views and grounds, places to spread out and come together! As Mother of the Bride, I was not as relaxed as I would have liked! But...all the more reason to return with the folks we treasure for another "Rivah" Respite! Many Thanks to Walid & Ginny for opening up your extraordinary home for this unforgettable event for our family. Cheers!!

Dream wedding weekend

Pop castle was the perfect venue for a dream wedding. The location was amazing with views of the river and gorgeous sunsets for the rehearsal dinner and wedding. Tons of space outside for dinner, dancing and a band. It was great to have the wedding party stay the weekend. We could not have asked for better hosts or location. Thank you!

Family Loved Pop Castle

I was surprised to hear all my family thought it was one our best vacations and were all delighted to hear that I booked it for next year. All were very active throughout the week, and all seemed to enjoy the activities and each other's company. Our only complaint was that the ice maker was not very productive, and the kitchen door was difficult to lock and unlock. I tried to tighten the lock but did not have the proper tools with me. We are already looking forward to our stay at Pop Castle next year, and me at 82, I hope I can make it and enjoy my family as I did this year. Thanks, Don Ford

FABULOUS RIVERFRONT ESTATE

We stayed at POP CASTLE for our daughter's wedding. The landscaping was BEAUTIFUL and the house was IMMACULATE! With 6 bedrooms and 7 baths, our family of 12 was very comfortable! The kitchen was 5 star and my husband could not wait to cook dinner there! We relaxed on the back porch with outstanding river views, spent time on the dock, took sunset photos, and shared so many wonderful memories together! I definitely recommend this magical place to anyone looking for a private sanctuary to spend time with family and friends.

Wonderful!

This house and grounds are incredible. I am in awe of the amount of time, energy and caring that the owners have put into it. Every detail enhances it. All of my family, kids, grandkids and great grandkids, loved it. The house is beautiful and well planned for large groups, plus so many options for things to do or play. We are already planning a return trip.

Family Reunion 2023

Pop Castle was magnificent in both setting and residence ! It was perfect having a bathroom for each bedroom with so many different family members. Since it wasn’t real cold, being able to congregate and eat on the enclosed veranda with the heating units was ideal affording such beautiful views.

A wonderful stay in a beautiful house

Our group of 13, ranging in age from 3 months to 93, truly had a wonderful week. This historic house is decorated beautifully and the bedrooms are large and very comfortable. It was nice to have one bedroom on the first floor (used by our 93 year old). We all remarked about how quiet the house was with no one hearing anyone else in the house. The back porch is air conditioned and we used this for many hours each day. The sunsets from the dock were fabulous and we were lucky that there were very few jelly fish so the kids could play in the water. It was also great that the water was not too deep( we are not so lucky with jelly fish at our home in Annapolis). The playhouse outbuilding was terrific for kids and adults and it also is air conditioned with its own bathroom. We played pickle ball, badminton, croquet, many rounds of corn hole, basketball, ping pong and more. The kitchen is remarkably stocked to make it very easy to feed large groups. The site is just so lovely, surrounded by huge oak trees and magnolias. We saw eagles and dolphins and watched stars at night. Staying at Pop Castle was very special and we thank the owners for their generosity in sharing this home. We did find Compass Entertainment in Irvington which was perfect for our grandchildren. We spent a rainy day here and the kids were thrilled. We certainly recommend it. Also, the free ferry at Merry Point was fun and scenic. Truly a lovely week for our family.

Awesome quiet spot on the river

We loved having space for four families to meet and play, the kids loved the game room, and everyone loved playing in the water using the provided paddle boards and other toys. The glassed-in deck was perfect for morning coffee and many chats with family. Thank you for a memorable week!

Great venue for a small wedding.

Pop Castle is a hidden gem in the NN. It is a great place for a wedding. We had about 40 people there and everything was as advertised. Plenty of amenities and space. We loved it. The cleaning fee was hefty but Pop Castle was everything we wanted and needed. Walid was a good host and we may come back for a anniversary.

Wonderful stay!

We booked Pop Castle for our wedding and and everything was nice. The house was perfect and the area is so peaceful. We couldn't have chosen a better place . Everything about Pop Castle was amazing. The owners are so sweet and helpful. I highly recommend staying there . You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful Property for a Perfect Wedding

We stayed at Pop Castle for our wedding weekend and it was one of the best decisions we could have made! The property is absolutely beautiful with an incredible view of the river, and the home itself is wonderful and full of history. Walid was easy to communicate with and very accommodating. I would recommend Pop Castle to anyone wanting to explore this underrated part of Virginia.

Amazing house and grounds

This is an amazing house and we had a great time. We were having a family reunion there, and we had 4 families with many little kids. This house was big enough to hold all 16 of us comfortably. Even the kitchen and dining spaces were big enough to allow us to cook for everyone which is often not the case in other houses we've rented. And we loved the huge screened in porch. We spent tons of time there. The kids loved the game room and the adults loved how quiet the house was when the kids were in the game room. Walid was a great host and we really enjoyed our stay. It was very hot while we were there (in July) but the AC in the house (and game room) worked great. The yard and private beach are also fantastic. The beach is great, mostly shaded by trees, and a great place to sit in the chairs or hammock. The kids had a great time and spent hours making sandcastles. Unfortunately several of the days we couldn't swim because there were too many jellyfish in the water. But there were lots of other fun things to do including kayaking, paddleboarding and having water fights. One of the days we took the kids to Williamsburg which was a lot of fun. The yard/grounds are huge and we had some epic hide and seek games there and the kids just loved exploring. There are also tons of outdoor games in the game room. The house is well stocked with many activities and even in a week we didn't come close to trying everything. Overall it is a wonderful house and we had a great time. We really appreciated that the house could hold our whole extended family comfortably with plenty of space for everyone. It made for a wonderful family reunion. Thank you Walid!

Fun times at Pop Castle

We had a group of 16 — 8 adults and 8 kids(ages from 8 to 16) We all had a great time— the house and grounds are loaded with all the games and activities we needed. We had a family Olympics with pickle ball, basketball and campus golf included— Kitchen had all the equipment we needed and more! I would consider renting again!

Exceeded all expectations!

I can't decide what to rate higher--the owners or the actual property. The owners were delightful and very accommodating. I feel like they are friends and all of us want to remain friends with them. They went above and beyond to make sure we felt completely at home in their gorgeous home. The property is absolutely stunning. I cannot say enough positive things about our experience.

Pop Castle is Amazing!!

We had our daughter's wedding at Pop Castle and could not have been more pleased and thankful to be there. The view is spectacular and the grounds are spacious. Plenty of room for celebrating with family and friends. The house has so much character and charm and the owners have it elegantly decorated and curated with beautiful art and unique pieces from their extensive travel. Every detail has been thought of. Beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is a dream. Beyond well equipped and a place for making family memories. We are so happy we chose Pop Castle for our family event.
