Renting this property was an absolute disappointment. I have rented with Whistler Platinum previously and expected a standard comparable with other properties. This is a very poorly designed and dark unit with an awful layout. The furnishings are very low-end and reflective of what may be expected from a 3 star hotel. The layout is awkward and the rooms are scattered through the home. The entrance is actually into the basement level and thus you have to carry your supplies up a flight of stairs. Two bedrooms are located on the main floor. We have young children that need to sleep close to their mom and thus we had to put a crib into the small master closet.
The balcony is small and has a view of trees. The kitchen is stocked, but with cheap utensils, cutlery and pans. The unit is dark most of the time and has heavy blinds that block most of the light that is present. I'm a fan of hot tubs, but the hot tub in this unit was actually dangerously hot. The thermostat was set at the max range, but I suspect it may actually be broken because it was scalding.
I was so disappointed that I actually contacted the property manager at check in to determine if we could simply cancel our booking on arrival and get a hotel. Unfortunately, they were not available until the next day. The advice that I received at that point was 'it's probably too late to do anything and we will see what we can do in terms of compensation'. I later received an email that suggested I could receive a 10% discount. I note that the property manager typically offers 10% for repeat customers so it is puzzling to receive this offer. When I inquired about this, I received no further email response at all.
Ultimately, I refused the offer and accepted the dingy, dark and overpriced unit as I was only staying for the weekend. I suggested that I would not book in future with Whistler Platinum and I would certainly not book this overpriced dark cabin again.
If you are looking for a unit of this quality, you would be better suited at finding a cheaper place elsewhere. The pricing is set by the square footage rather than the quality of the cabin. Unfortunately, most of the space is not useable. You are highly likely to regret this investment.
Sincerely,
