We loved our stay at the cabin! The view of the waterfall was fantastic, and we loved hearing the roar of it during the night. We cooked all our breakfast and dinners at the cabin, and the kitchen was well stocked.We loved having a hot tub soak first thing in the morning and then later in the evening after hiking all day. Communication with Dylan was excellent. We would like to come back one day to this cabin.

We had the most magical stay. The cabin not only fit our needs but exceeded our expectations. All the thoughtful touches were a benefit. We had so much fun exploring the property as well. We already started planning our next trip.

Due to a major winter storm that hit this area, we were not able to make this trip. I reached out to the property owner at the beginning of the week to see if they would work with us to reschedule for another weekend, as my husband and I were excited to stay at this property. I was told that they were booked up, which in reviewing their calendar.....that was not the fact. I never once asked for my money back, just to reschedule. Property owner stated that they need to adhere to cancellation policy and we could schedule another reservation for another weekend and they could provide a discount rate. SO I was being asked to pay rent this property twice.....so unprofessional.While I understand rules must be followed, I was very dissatisfied and felt that I was lied when I was told all other weekends were taken. In fact, I know that the owner COULD HAVE worked with me to change this to another weekend. I have a family member who also uses VRBO for his properties and has done this for rentors before. If you chooses to stay at this property or other properties owned by this person, be mindful that if unforeseen circumstances happen, they are not willing to work with you.

We feel fortunate to have found this piece of preserved history and enjoyed all that the Mill House offers. Peaceful, private, comfortable, clean and close to Hanging Rock. Wonderful family adventure!

This is a unique property that just needs a few more details to make it perfect. The king bed mattress is a bit hard, and there is currently no seating at the fire pit. The property is perhaps more rustic than the pictures convey, but it's clean. Our only bug issue was stink bugs indoors everywhere upon arrival, but we had no other problems. We were unable to use the hot tub because it was broken; the owners did convey that a few days ahead of time, but it was one of our search features, so losing that was a bummer. You have to hand wash dishes, but the checkout process is minimal beyond that. I recommend bringing paper plates/cups/etc. You're about 15 mins from a full size grocery store, and 20 mins to Hanging Rock or Pilot Mountain. I'm glad we tried this unconventional location and look forward to seeing what else the owners do in the future to make it even more memorable!

The mill house is a relaxing spot & quite unique. The deck overlooking the river & damn/waterfall is the highlight. Inside you’ll find a very open floor plan & high ceilings. Kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. Some furniture is showing its age & some maintenance is overdue on a few aspects. This rental is best suited for ppl with older kids or young couples. 1 bathroom is on the lower lever. Communication with owners was easy. Oh - the hot tub was great after hiking at Hanging Rock!

The place was very picturesque I would love to go back! Unfortunately the house wasn't as thoroughly clean as I would have thought for a 135 cleaning fee. After a 6 hour drive I found myself dusting weeks worth of dust off the floors and furniture and washing throw rugs and blankets. When I reached out to the host the reply was "we received your message and will get back to you" and no follow up. Other than that the place was everything I was looking for and loved.
This is just one picture, it was the entire upstairs bedroom
But it's cleaned now. Not the entire bedroom. I stopped myself because I realized I wasn't getting paid the $135 cleaning fee.

The property is super cool and unique! Sitting out on the deck was amazing.....surrounded by nature....family of swans, blue heron, and even some deer across the stream.The inside couch is a worn and covered in blankets to hide the wear and tear.....other than that the place was clean.If you plan on using the hot tub, i would recommend bringing extra towels. There are 6 bath towels (small bath towels), but no extras for the hot tub if 6 guests are staying.All in All.....great place! Would recommend!We ate at Luna's Mexican, just up the street.....very good Mexican!We hiked at Hanging Rock on Saturday and then visited down town Mt. airy We had dinner Saturday night at The Big Creek Lodge (recommend makimg a reservation in case they have an event)....5 minute drive from The Mill.Big Creek has a great view, great food, and friendly staff!! We enjoyed it so much we went back Sunday for breakfast for homemade Bearclaws!!!

Really neat property with plenty of room. Thought the single bathroom could be an issue but worked out fine for my family of 6. Close to great spots for hiking...and Luna's Mexican restaurant just up the street was awesome. Plenty of other local restaurants just down the road in Mt Airy.

This is a very unique property and worth staying in for a few nights. If you appreciate historical architecture and charm, it's worth it. The sound of the waterfall while you sleep is absolutely hypnotizing - unbelievable! Of note however; the steep stairs to the second floor are not for people with mobility issues and the lack of a bathroom upstairs is a small inconvenience.

Beautifully renovated house with a gorgeous view. It’s not far from the road, but situated in such a way that it’s extremely private. The stream made for some really fun waddling, and the waterfall makes you want to spend every minute on the deck. It’s close enough to Pilot Mountain and Hanging rock that we could spend the day hiking and come back to the hot tub and a drink on the deck. Small rambunctious children need close supervision, but our toddler did great and had a blast.

Refreshing vacation!

The deck overlooking the creek and spillway added so much enjoyment! It made for a beautiful way to start and end the day. Our kids enjoyed fishing, finding crayfish and clambering around the rocks in the creek. We all liked the modern farmhouse feel and style of the interior of the house. The beds were very comfortable and the bedroom fans were helpful as it was a hot weekend. Checkout and check-in were easy. We loved our time here!

We had an amazing stay, and they went above and beyond to make sure all of our needs were met!! From watching the blue heron in the waterfall every morning on the patio, to swimming in the waterfall, to relaxing in the hot tub and enjoying nature, this place was amazing! We got engaged during our trip and this was the perfect place to stay!

Wonderful peaceful getaway!

The waterfall was the selling feature for me to book this property, and the lovely sound of the water didn’t disappoint; it lulled me to sleep for 4 wonderful nights. I didn’t even notice my hubby snoring lol The rustic setting was fabulous! Staying in a refurbished 1880s mill was a fun experience, learning the history was fascinating, too.

Unique and centrally located

I stayed here with some friends to get away and do some hiking. This is a very special home. I've never stayed anywhere like it. History permeates the property and house itself. Yet you have all the modern amenities you could need. The sound of the waterfall is with you inside or outside and creates a very peaceful environment. The bunk beds are not in the bedroom as the posting indicates. This didn't affect us but for anyone reading this it might be helpful to know they're located outside the two bedrooms upstairs. The house is centrally located near Mt. Airy, Pilot Mountain, and Hanging Rock so there are a lot of places to explore and especially great for people who enjoy the outdoors (fishing, kayaking the Dan, hiking to great views among the Sauratown Mountains. Highly recommended!

Quick escape!

My husband and I spent 2 nights here and really enjoyed ourselves. The king bed was a little soft for our liking but still had a good nights sleep. The view is incredible off the deck and the simple decor makes it easy to feel calm and relaxed. Communication and suggestions prior to our visit were very helpful in planning our stay!

Fantastic getaway

The Mill & Waterfall was amazing! Highly recommend!Could’ve spent the whole time on the deck! Location was great for exploring in and around the creek. Short drives to Mount Airy and Hanging Rock.Place was outstanding, as was the communication with the hosts. Will definitely consider a return trip!
