Great location, and room was fine, but were dead bugs on the blind and kept up by creaking floorboards from next room - sounds dramatic but was so loud.

We loved our weekend break at The Globe in Wells next the Sea. Despite the chilly weather we made the most of exploring Wells, walking down to the lifeboat station then along the beach to Holkham Hall for lunch and back. Beautiful place to visit if you like wildlife too, would definitely recommend and the food at The Globe is excellent.

Liked it being tucked away so nice and quiet with car parking. The last time we stayed there, we were on the ground floor next to the courtyard and preferred that to being upstairs, but still thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

It’s so lovely, room good. Staff are so attentive checking you got into room okay. The breakfast is amazing, lots to choose from. My only criticism is it would have been nice to have bottles of water in the room so easier to use kettle and coffee machine and just for drinking. The kettle and machine are quite hard to fill up with the small taps in the bathroom

Lovely place but be aware when bringing a dog
If was asked to review this stay when we checked out, i’d have given it a 5 stars. Helpful and friendly staff and lots of communication prior to stay. Room was lovely and cosy and it was so nice they gave the dog a little bed/water bowl to use. I’d even called the front desk to say thank you for leaving a bed as that was a lovely touch. However about 2 hours after we checked out the next day, I then had a phone call to say we needed to pay another £25 for the dog. There was no mention of additional dog fees on hotels.com and I had also contacted the hotel prior to make sure we could bring the dog and whether we needed to make this a special request when booking. We were told we can bring the dog at no cost and the whole place was dog friendly so they could stay in any room available. This phone call demanding money was really unexpected and has tarnished our view of the hotel, hence dropping the stars. Personally I don’t understand how they can warrant charging this regardless as there was nothing extra they needed to do just because a dog stayed, it’s a pretty steep extra charge and was very disappointing they waited until after we had left to then land an extra unexpected charge on us.

The next Southwold.
Great room in central location. Very good breakfast. Bar expensive as most pubs in wells are . Edinburgh inn round the corner where the local's go cheaper. All in all I would stay again in this hotel.

Arch House Stay Jan’24
Lovely stay at The Arch House, comfortable quirky room with upstairs sofa bed and bathroom. This room is definitely not suitable for the less able as there are stairs involved and the bathroom is upstairs from the bedroom. Breakfast was at The Globe which was a 5min walk away and it was delicious. We would definitely be more than happy to stay here again.

Arch house, the Globe.
We stayed in the Arch House rooms. Last year we stayed in the globe. The room was clean and tidy. The shower started dripping heavily during the night loudly enough to wake ua and to have to take the shower head down and leave it in the shower tray. The smoke alarm above the bed flashed the whole time through the night a bright light that also woke me a few times. The heated towel rail didnt work making the en suite cold unless we left the door open. Some of the curtain had come off the cutain rings making it look a bit tatty.

Beautiful place and exceptional food.
Beautiful place to stay with amazing friendly staff and fab food. Was a wee bit disappointed that when we came back from The Thursford Christmas spectacular at 10.30 and wanted a little nightcap it was all closed. Wish that there had been somewhere to go.

Nice hotel in old fashioned Norfolk resort.
We stayed in the annex called The Arches. Very good except for poor lighting outside the room and a temperamental key code to get into the complex. It was also further away from the main hotel than we expected. Next time we will stay in the main hotel.

The room was very small especially the bathroom which was far too small for two people The bed was extremely comfortable, lovely clean linen with a lovely duvet and pillows. There was a coffee machine which was very nice but the selection of tea was appalling. There were some nice comfortable chairs in my room but the televison was at such a funny angle you couldn't watch it in bed. My friend's room next door had a much better television but no chairs!!!

My room faced an outdoor courtyard that was loud due to people smoking and drinking outside. People could walk right next to my open window that faced this courtyard. So privacy was an issue. As was security because my window couldn’t be locked (it didn’t work properly). Also, there were no elevators. If you have limited mobility, this will be a problem.

Great stay at the Globe
Absolutely loved our stay at the Globe. Staff were so friendly, welcoming and polite. Food was great. Although not a dog owner myself, i loved how welcome our 4 legged friends were made. All so well behaved as well. Will definitely be returning next year.

Very enjoyable, recommended.
The accomodation was very nice, done throughout in a marine theme which was perfect for a seaside visit. Comfortable, clean and reasonably priced. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant and the breakfast was first rate and very filling. Altogether, a lovely break.

It was a surprise we had the long walk for breakfast. I imagine it must have been mentioned on the expedia site but we never saw that. Rooms were reasonableI I suppose, but small and definitely not luxurious.

Annex grim; pub great. Dogs everywhere!
We were out in the annex 500 metres from the pub. The room was not uncomfortable but smelled of damp. The bathroom was minute and cold (no towel rail/tiled floor) with an annoying door that creaked when it moved and could not be properly shut. The carpet was stained and drab. Tea/coffee was good and real milk! Getting in was convoluted with at least 2 separate combination codes and 2 door keys. It was on the corner of a fairly busy road junction and there was constant traffic. The upstairs guests could be heard through the ceiling and they were early risers! Most irritating was the smoke alarm (?) with a flashing strobe light!! Bed was comfortable with good linen and pillows. We did not feel the room merited a charge anything like the rate we paid, having stayed a previous night in Premier Inn for nearly half the price! On the other hand the pub was great. Dinner very good and amazing efficiency by the staff - particularly Victoria who was fantastic. Breakfast was excellent with fresh pastries and fresh fruit salad. Credit must go to Jordan who dealt with customers effortlessly and was charming. Special mention to Olya who spotted a wheelchair user outside and immediately rushed to help well done the pub! BUT…dogs everywhere at both meals including on chairs. I love dogs (I have 3) but this was too much and there was endless barking and whining. I think this probably puts me off returning.

More dogs than people in this pub
Really nice pub and location. Our room was a little dated especially the bathroom. Unfortunately our room was located next to the roof garden so people kept walking past our window early in the morning to go to breakfast and I had to get up and close our curtains as we could see people clearly so they could definitely see us lying in bed 🙄. I know they advertised as being dog friendly but it was crazy. Most people had 2 dogs and they were everywhere. I personally don’t like to eat my dinner when the table next to me has a dog that is too close for comfort. One dog got spooked by another dog and this ended up with the whole restaurant full of barking dogs for several minutes.

Great stay and would stay again. Breakfast and dinner in the hotel was really good. Just be aware if you are in the other building it’s about 5 or 6 mins up the road, but does have private parking.

The Arch House rooms were cosy, comfortable and convenient for the town. Walking was easy and took approx 5/10 mins to walk to shops, pubs and restaurants, and about 5 mins to The Globe pub. If you are little unsteady on your feet, you would perhaps find it difficult to walk to places. The food at The Globe is fabulous and the staff are lovely, I mistakenly thought there was a separate restaurant, but the à la carte menu is served throughout the pub, there is a nicer part which I thought I had booked, but was informed that this was not the case in quite a firm manner, however, the food more than made up for it, and we would stay again.

On a positive note the staff in the Globe were very friendly and helpful, the breakfasts were generally good and we had a good evening meal there. We stayed in one of the Arch house courtyard rooms and this was very disappointing and nothing like as smart as the pictures on the website. The ensuite bathroom was full of mould in the shower mastic and on the ceiling, the plaster was peeling and the light surround was heavily rusted. The toilet seat lid was yellowed and marked and the toilet roll holder was very cheap plastic and also looked old. The heated towel rail didnt work and the extractor fan made a lot of noise but was rather ineffective. Definitely not 4 star standard.

Marginal Performance
Not so great. Staff off-site in a building (the Globe) over a mile away. No way to access room or into the building (Arches House). Long trip from the States to be left out in the pouring tain w my luggage. After trying to call and email, the maids finally let me in and they called the management who sent an email with all the access information i needed (key codes etc). Very poor first impression. Ate in the Globe for dinner that evening and waiter staff showed poor customer relation skills by arguing in front of me. Staff seemed oblivious to customers. Whole dining experience was a rush job. No real atmosphere. Food was average, steak undercooked and tough. Prices unreasonably hight considering size, quality and service. All this easily corrected with some leadership. I will not recommend to family or friends. Sorry. Lots of potential though. Sincerely, John Gerlaugh. Austin Texas

Great hotel, clean, spacious and comfortable rooms. Restaurant serves lovely food and staff friendly and helpful. Rooftop terrace for guests only so plenty of room. Close to centre of town, shops and waterfront within walking distance.
