This property is well decorated, and some updates (new kitchen) have been made, bedrooms are cute. However our experience started with a dirty floor and garbage/half empty bottles in the kitchen upon entering the house. The description on the vrbo website states there is no air conditioning, but there is heating in the cabin. To be clear, there is no central heat to this cabin at the time of our booking. The insulation in the walls of the house are close to non-existent. There is a “mud room” type entryway to the house which is all non-insulated windows and walls that make the house very very drafty.
The “heating” in this house includes three working space heaters, and a fireplace. What’s more, if you turn the space heaters on high, it will trip the electrical breaker on the house. We stayed in this cabin for four days, and reset different breakers constantly throughout our stay.
This cabin experience was slightly better than camping. It’s a cute cottage, and if we had expected this sort of “roughing it” it’s a lovely adventurous home and great location, but if you are looking for comfort and warmth this is not the home for you. The electrical situation is slightly better than terrifying. There are extension cords everywhere and running through the walls as their house wiring.
My kids loved the place. It has the cutest 2 kids bedrooms with lots of toys and books for the kids to enjoy. It has a toddler rail you can set up on the toddler beds which were great to have. It even has a kids table and chairs downstairs, a big yard to explore, and a playhouse outside. Very kid-friendly setup. Beware of the steep, shallow stairs however.
