  • This stately 3000 sq ft home is perfect for a large group or family. Located on a tree lined avenue, steps from Washburn's Main Street and Lake Superior. Enjoy Bayfield County, which has year round appeal for the outdoor adventurist, or stay in and relax by the fire. House has high ceilings, original wood floors and trim. Built in 1912 by a prominent lumber baron, the home has been well cared for and updated with a newly remodeled kitchen. There are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. House is situated on a double lot with a two stall garage. Fenced in backyard has a deck, grill, fire pit and volleyball net. Your well behaved dog is welcome for a $60 fee. Neighborhood playground, tennis and pickleball courts just blocks away. In summer, visit the Farmer's Market and enjoy Music In The Park on Wednesdays. The house is elegant enough for a romantic weekend, yet still comfortable and inviting for families and outdoor sports enthusiasts. Washburn was recently named one of the best places for biking in the country! Bring your bike, or rent one at Washburn Hardware and Sports. Washburn Marina is .5 miles away and is a certified Clean Marina. We have found visitors are pleasantly surprised by all Bayfield County has to offer, and strive to turn your stay into an annual tradition. We welcome your questions and suggestions! We loved this house. We were on a sisters's trip to visit our cousin in Washburn, WI. We especially loved the large and comfortable living room. We were all able to gather there and catch up. All the bedrooms were comfortable. The kitchen was well-appointed and made it easy to prepare meals, and the dining room was comfortable for all of us. We enjoyed the location. It was easy to walk to the businesses in town. Washburn, WI was a great location to access the Madeline Island ferry and Apostle Islands tour boat. We also enjoyed the hiking in the area and visiting Ashland, WI.

We loved staying in this renovated old home. It was very spacious, and had a large well equipped kitchen, as well as a garage. We really appreciated that they allowed pets and had a fenced in yard. The host was very communicative and responded promptly to any questions. We hope to return and would definitely recommend.

Washburn get-away

Came to enjoy the snow mid-week. House was great, clean and well stocked. Location in the center of washburn was very convenient. Loved having a fire in the fireplace. We would stay there again.

Historic House

Perfect place for our mini vacation. Lots of activities to close to this house. Kitchen had the basics and there were plenty of towels for the bathrooms. Host was very accommodating and easy to work with. We would return to this house if we vacation in the area again.

We loved this place. Our extended family has been vacationing in Washburn for 20 years at various places. This was the best. Beautiful, spacious, historic, yet updated wonderfully. We took advantage of outstanding indoor and outdoor space. The host was great to work with…. I couldn’t recommend it more.

Welcome Home

We had a wonderful stay at the Stately Home. It was very comfortable with a lot of space for my family (6 adults). It provided everything we wanted, spacious kitchen, dining room, huge living room & comfortable bedrooms. Visiting in the winter we didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy the deck & backyard, but are looking forward to staying at the Stately for our 2025 holiday getaway.

Great Old House!

Wonderful, roomy house with more than sufficient, comfortable space for the 7 of us. Mary was wonderful. We would love to come back and stay again. Extremely clean AND with 2 1/2 baths! Thanks, Mary.

Family Trip

Perfect for our trip with adult children. Enough space to not feel cramped, but cozy. Home was well appointed and just as described. Fenced in yard and use of garage a huge bonus! Great communication from our host. The area is so lovely with many things to do and see. We look forward to staying again.

Nice Experience!

The house worked well for our "Core Four" family: Mom, Dad, and two adult daughters. Each of us had our own space, and the dining room was a lovely place to have a couple of family meals. We especially loved the outdoor fireplace area where we roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, and had a singalong around the fire. Our border collie loved the big yard!

Charm and character

The first thing we commented on was the very spacious living room with all of the beautiful windows. The space throughout the house was really nice and a little ups and down stairs added a quaint touch. We did have plenty of room to spread out which was great the nice big Back Fence yard was good for our dog and grandson

Family Vacation- 2nd Stay

The “Barron” is perfect for our family for the week of the 4th of July- we enjoyed Friendly Valley Beach, Cornucopia Beach, Little Girls Point at Saxon Harbor, Copper Falls State Park, Golfing, and The Oredock. Family breakfast and dinners and of course- Frankie’s Pizza! We topped it all off with the festivities of the 4th- the parade and a family reunion at the beach- The band shell for music and the fireworks! It was a Memory Maker for sure and this home is a perfect place for us to make it all happen!
