  • One of the oldest mansions in Walla Walla, this house was built around 1880 and now serves as a museum depicting daily Victorian life on the frontier. From the website: When built, the Kirkman’s home was one of the grandest residences in Walla Walla reflecting tastes of the day and wealth generated by the ranching business. Now the Victorian Italianate house remains the only example of its kind locally, though vestiges of early 20th century architecture can be found throughout Walla Walla. In its heyday, the house was the setting for lavish entertaining, as well as for routine activities of daily American Victorian life. In addition to being home for the Kirkman’s, it also served as a boys’ dormitory for Whitman College from 1920-1924. During this time Walter Brattain, 1956 Nobel Prize winner for the co-invention of the transistor, studied in the home. The house was elected to the National Historic Register in December of 1974 and has been run as a non-profit organization since 1981.

Beautiful home for couples or a group of friends visiting Walla Walla either for college tours or wine tasting. The house is closer to college than to downtown area but super easy for either option. The interior is beautiful - we went in winter so did not spend anytime outside. The owner has made it so easy to find everything. Beds were super comfortable, plenty of pillows, towels, coffee, wine opener. We did not cook anything but the kitchen appeared to be fully set up. There were three couples and everyone had a great time.

Great property. Very well equipped - best I’ve seen in a rental (coffee beans & grinder nespresso pods; hair ties in the bathroom!). Super comfortable beds. Easy check in and out. Quiet location close to Whitman College and downtown. Highly recommend!

The bungalow was amazing! It was beautifully decorated, very clean, and provided us with everything we could have possibly needed. We felt the owners went above and beyond in providing for our comfort. Yes, we would definitely stay there again!

Everything was so organized and clean. Fantastic, quiet neighborhood. Responsive hosts. Best VRBO experience all 3 of the couples have had. Definitely hoping to make an annual visit!

Wonderful stay.

The house was great or five of us to stay for Fall release weekend. The three bedrooms and bathrooms worked great for us. The house was equipped with all we needed. The house is located in a very quiet neighborhood and close to downtown Walla Walla and many wineries makes it great. We would pick the house again next time coming to Walla Walla

One of the BEST we've stayed in

This was the perfect house for our wine-tasting friends reunion. Dividing the bedrooms was a breeze because they were all really nice and the beds were comfortable and all had their own bathroom (not necessarily en suite but easy to get to). The living room was comfortable, the tv room was very comfortable, the kitchen had more than you could use. We enjoyed coffee in the morning and wine in the evenings on the back patio. The extra touches (a jar full of hair ties!) were appreciated and just made us love this property even more.

Walla Walla Wonderful!

2 other couples and we spent 3 nights in Walla Walla for wine tasting. This house was amazing! We all felt at home, welcomed, and comfortable there. It's always a little stressful choosing a place from pictures and reviews, but this place is better than any other VRBO we have rented. Note: Check what the owner supplies before you go to the grocery store. You might not need as much as you think. Thanks, Kathy for a great stay!

Hands down the nicest vacation rental I’ve stayed in. Comfy, spacious, with room for all 6 of us and the sound of frogs at night. The kitchen has every appliance an amateur chef could want. Easy walk to campus and Pioneered Park. 13/10 would stay there again

Nice location, clean house, great layout

We stayed here this past weekend while visiting family in Walla Walla. The house easily absorbed my two kids, and my elderly parents. The kitchen has everything you need, the bedrooms were comfortable, and the neighbor even has a water feature with a few frogs living in it! Nice walking neighborhood. Definitely recommend.

Fabulous Walla Walla house

Beautiful 3 bed/3 bath property in Walla Walla, close to Whitman College. Charming older home with updates made just right to make everything comfortable. Well supplied/excellent all around

We have stayed at many VRBOs. This one is at the top of the list. All the supplies you could ask for. Kathy was great. Beds very comfortable and easy walk to Whitman College and down town. BBQ in back yard was a nice feature. You can't go wrong booking this house. Look forward to coming back.

Bday get away

Our group of 5 has come to WW many times and stayed in different homes. This one is one of the best. The host is very responsive and easy to work with. The only thing that was a little frustrating is there is no live TV. We are a group that likes to watch sports and we had to go into town. Not a big deal if you don’t need live TV. The house is fully equipped with the addition of a wonderful welcome bottle of wine an easy walk (1.5) miles to Starbucks and 2 blocks away from a fun Tavern. We will definitely consider coming back to this house.

Great spot for a girls weekend!

My friends and I stayed her for a girls wine trip. It was wonderful! Very conveniently located and well stocked VRBO. We loved the porch and patio. Kathy had thought of everything! Would love to stay here again
