Lovely cabin!!
The check in about process was super simple. We enjoyed how secluded the cabin was and would love to check it out during another season. We saw a beautiful fox, tons of antelope, and we believe we saw a wolf on the way to the property one day! I would definitely come again!

Beautiful Spot, Helpful Host
We enjoyed the beautiful location and the clean, cozy cabin. Deb was super kind and helpful, bringing us snowshoes to borrow to enjoy the landscape. We hope to return!

Wonderful!
Very cozy cabin in a beautiful setting! We especially loved the large front porch and view. There is a good amount of privacy and distance from other cabins. Host was responsive and accommodating. Definitely would stay again. We did not spot any wildlife, but maybe next time. The only improvement we could think of would be a slightly better-equipped kitchen, particularly knives and cutting boards.

What a great little hidden gem off the beaten path!! Really enjoyed the area and loved that there was a hiking trail on the property with great views. Would love to go back in early fall to see the beautiful colors with all those aspens. Thanx Deb for the wonderful weekend in your cozy little cabin!!

A little bit of heaven
The cabin was immaculate and well supplied. A gorgeous setting in the fall colors. Saw fox, moose, coyotes, grouse, and antelope. So many WOWs at the colors and sunrises and sunsets from the awesome porch. Hope to return. Thank you, Deb.

The best
Deb was a great hostess. The cabin was secluded and a very peaceful stay. Hiking was awesome and we were able to see Elk , moose , Mule deer and other animals. We will be back.

Quiet and Relaxing
Whistle Pig cabin is located in a beautiful, quiet location. We spent a lot of time on the front deck. A moose walked right past the deck the first evening we were there! Also saw deer and prong horn on the road leading up to the cabin. We were fortunate to be there for the August super blue moon. Watching it come up over the mountains was magical. The cabin was spotless and well outfitted. Hiking trails in the Zerkils were a short distance away and we took advantage of the private trail on the property. Checkin was easy and communication with Deb was a breeze. We had a nice, in person conversation with her one evening and it was very informative about life in this remote area. We hope to return to this cabin again and again.

Beautiful!!!
We stayed the weekend at the whistle pig retreat. The location was beautiful with lots of privacy. The home was very well furnished, including plenty of linens, kitchenware, and utensils. We especially enjoyed having the Blackstone grill! Deb is very friendly and informative. She provided information on area activities and was very responsive to requests through the Vrbo app and phone. We are planning our next trip now!

Beautiful Retreat!
We loved our stay at the Whistle Pig Retreat! If we had not already planned to visit nearby sites (Strawberry Hot Springs, etc.), we would have been quite content just sitting on the lovely & spacious front porch enjoying the abundance of hummingbirds & deer ~ along with the spectacular view in utter peace and tranquility. Deb was a warm and welcoming host! Can't wait to return!

Great Getaway
Nice, clean, and quiet cabin. Beautiful hiking nearby. Got to see moose in the evening close to Walden. Highly recommend! Owner was very responsive to our needs and those of the humming birds.

Another perfect stay!
This accommodation is truly special and one of a kind. It was our second time staying at Deb's property, and expectations were exceeded once again. We will continue to return in the future. Would highly recommend. Great location, accommodation and host.

This was a return stay for us, and we will be back again and again. Beautiful setting, completely private, surrounded by wildlife. Easy access to lakes and hikes. Host is kind and helpful.

Snowy family adventure
We had a most excellent time staying here. Cabin had everything we needed, communication with Deb was great and helpful. Played in the snow with kids and explored the groomed trails on the property. Everything we had hoped for and more! Can’t wait to return!!

Escape to tranquility
Warm, cozy, secluded describe this place. Bring plenty of food, snowshoes, and an snow tire clad AWD SUV to enjoy this place to it's fullest extent. We didn't see anyone other than 4 moose the entire time we were there. Great escape from the bustle of life.

Great cabin!
We had a wonderful time staying at this cabin! The location is beautiful and the cabin is set back against a hill, making it feel very private. We enjoyed exploring the trails right around the cabin with our dog and taking in the gorgeous views.

Excellent Mountain Getaway
Beautiful location right against the mountains. Plenty for snowshoeing right out the front door. Can't even imagine how beautiful it must be in the fall surround by aspens. Plenty of wildlife like moose and foxes to spot from the porch. Host is very responsive and helpful! Would love to come back again!

Wildlife Everywhere
I stayed at the Whistle Pig November of 2022 for an Elk hunt. Access to the Rout/Medicine Bow National forest was right at the end of our road. We did not fill our Elk tags, but saw a herd within a mile of our cabin. A beautiful location with more than adequate accommodations for two Wisconsin hunters.

Whistle Pig Retreat
The cabin is in a beautiful, quiet mountain location. The aspens were at their peak while we were there. Very clean, well stocked cabin. The views are incredible. We had a few deer come around, but not much other wildlife during our stay. Deb, the owner, is a wonderful person. She is readily available, just give her a call. We would have loved to stay longer!

Incredible Place!
Deb's cabin was fantastic! We saw a moose or two in our side yard each morning of our stay! And we saw other moose within a mile of the cabin, right at the ponds not far from the cabin! The cabin is clean and comfortable. Deb is a wealth of information regarding the wildlife in the area and other sights to go see. Even just sitting on the deck was beautiful and relaxing. Just a really great place to stay.

Great place
Whistle Pig Retreat was perfect for the two of us, out of the way and very peaceful. We hiked, saw wildlife and traveled around the area. The cabin was very comfortable, we'd definitely come back.

Wonderful Getaway
This is a fantastic getaway with all the modern accommodations. Such a great place to spend some time outdoors with trails and other outdoor activities close by. My wife and I loved our stay along with our Old English Sheepdog. Deb was fantastic and was available for anything we needed. I highly recommend this place and I look forward to coming back! BEAUTIFUL SETTING
The Whistle Pig Retreat is set in the most absolutely beautiful setting. The porch, the hummingbird feeders and space for my dogs was wonderful. I love north park. I have had a VRBO rental. To me comfort counts for a lot. We ended up leaving after the first night. The bed is horrible. Old thin and soft. The kitchen could benefit from a few new items too. With such a great spot a few upgrades would make a huge difference.

We requested a moment of your time to discuss trails and wildlife. There are bears and a lion in the area. At that point we always ask if there is anything that we haven’t supplied that is needed. We weren’t given that opportunity. We are a short distance away and would have gladly provided.

Peace & Quiet
Good location for hiking & hanging out. Deb is very knowledgeable about the area & can provide info if you aren’t familiar w/the wildlife or the location. There are two nice trails nearby, plus State Forest to the south & lots of national forest trailheads to the north. Deer, pronghorn, foxes & hummingbirds hang out nearby. Saw two moose on the road to the cabin too. Bring absolutely everything you will need, as it’s a 30ish minute trek to Walden, which is a tiny town.

Relaxing Bday Getaway!
Needed to get away to recharge. This was the perfect place and the views were absolutely beautiful. Me and my dog enjoyed the hiking trails, watching the dear, and sitting outside on the deck watching the hummingbirds. The cabin was very clean and well stocked. Whistling pig is the perfect place to recharge, relax and enjoy the beautiful views and wildlife. Deb the owner is an amazing person and very happy to have met a new friend. Already planning my next trip back to this amazing place. Cherry an Izzie.

Remote Cabin with Fantastic View and Nice People
We appreciated the remoteness of the cabin and the property in general. Hiking opportunities abound, as well as the wildlife. During our week stay we saw pronghorn, moose cow and calf, deer, many varieties of birds, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, and of course the whistle pigs PLUS an ever-changing gorgeous view - all from the cabin deck. Things to bring: bug spray, all your food, readiness to detach from the digital world. The mattress was not very comfortable, which is something I crave after hiking up a mountain - but the cabin is a value for the money. FYI- I would happily pay more if the mattress was upgraded. All in all a wonderful trip!

Wonderful area to be out in nature and yet not totally isolated. The owner is friendly and informative. Place is clean and neat and comfortable. Would recommend bringing storage containers and utensils as they are in short supply. We would go back there.

What a special place!
We loved staying here with our 2 dogs. We parked our car on a Friday and did not start it up again until we left on Monday. Beautiful property to explore with hiking trails right outside the cabin. Beautiful views from large covered deck. Tons of wildflowers and wildlife for our enjoyment. Would love to come back in the winter!

Perfect Colorado Getaway
The front porch is perfect for enjoying a morning cup of coffee while watching the hummingbirds visit the feeders and the local wildlife wander down the nearby trails. Several hiking trails with scenic views are also conveniently located a few steps from your front door. Deb, Pat and Eli are the most gracious hosts; the cabin is beautifully maintained, fully stocked, and completely charming. Loved every minute!

Remote cabin
Perfect cabin for a getaway from hectic life. It is very remote from city life with several miles of dirt road. This location popped up when searching for locations near Steamboat Springs. Please beware that this cabin is 1.5 hours away from Steamboat No complaints- the cabin was equipped with all essentials, surrounded by wildness (very private) and host (Deb) was very responsive and friendly. If visiting in summer (by mid-June), bring bug spray for mosquitoes so you can enjoy the deck.

Great views
This was a nice escape for my daughter and I. Deb was very friendly. The place had beautiful views and it was very welcoming for our dogs. We saw elk, moose, and even a couple bears. The hummingbirds by our cabin were awesome also.

Stay at WhistlePig Retreat
My wife and I had such a great stay up at Deb’s cabin. We got a big storm and were still able to enjoy the outdoors (snowshoeing) - amazing animals surround the property and it was really fun spotting a few Moose down in the tall brush. Would highly recommend. Deb is an incredibly gracious host and great person - we needed some more supplies and she ran them right out on us mid stay.

Very cute quiet spot near Walden, CO. We stayed here just to go to steamboat during the day (~90 min in the winter drive); would return and bring my snowshoes for exploring around the area!

We had a great time snowshoeing and just enjoying the cabin. Deb is always a great host and keeps you informed of any information you may need. We saw a moose just down from the cabin and the view is terrific! We will for sure be back!

Not fancy, but perfect
Quiet place off the beaten path. It's not glamorous but was perfect to step back from the hustle of life. The property itself has hiking trails and wildlife. Deb was a gracious and accommodating host. We would return.

Peaceful Getaway
Very peaceful getaway out in nature, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Excellent for hiking. Our only concern was that after getting there, our cellular phones did not have service in the cabin. But now that Deb has added WiFi, this didn't pose a serious problem. She would have taken care of us if we had needed emergency help, since she responded promptly whenever we contacted her through VRBO messaging.
