Bright, spacious older cottage with a large grassy lawn. Quiet location. Stunning night sky. Excellent Wi-Fi. We liked the house. A few things to note: You cannot see or hear the ocean from the house. “Walk to the beach” in the title of the listing is a bit of a stretch. The house faces a river estuary. To access the beach you must swim or paddle a kayak or surfboard for about 75-100 meters across the estuary, then walk through mangroves and dunes on the other side. At mid-tide the river is mostly knee/waist deep, but in the middle it was deeper than my kayak paddle. We kayaked across the estuary but never found access through the mangrove thickets on the other side (the house book had directions, we just couldn't find it). So, this way to the beach is not going to work for children or granny, or on a cooler day when you don’t want to get wet. Otherwise, it’s a half-hour walk along the road to the beach at Waipu Cove. The spa had a lot of sand in it and the water was gray/brown so we didn’t use it. The only light in the main bedroom is a bare light bulb hanging from the ceiling.
