I appreciated the communication between the property and me regarding issues with roaches and bugs during the course of our stay. VRBO was uncommunicative and unapologetic about the conditions and allowed for no refund for us to go somewhere else. Also, there is only ONE window ac in the living room of this unit. The bedroom down the hall had no unit and no circulation without additional fans we asked for. It was hot and muggy and was not even Summer yet.

Great honeymoon spot!

Great views from the patio with a table and a nice screen (we saw a few sea turtles!), well equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture (e.g., bed and sofa bed).

Turtle cove

The condo was very clean and well equipped. It is too close to the sewage treatment plant so you cannot go out in the ocean. It’s a very central location to everything on the island so travelling is easy. Overall it’s a great place to stay.

Wonderful view, unpleasant nights

The location and views were excellent, couldn't ask for anything more. The condo was small but nice. Very little room in the bathroom but we managed. The biggest issue we had was the extreme heat in the bedroom. The a/c unit is in the living area and is too small to cool the unit. The best we could get in the living area was high 70's and the bedroom was in the high 80's. We had fans going to try and cool the bedroom but there was little relief. The rental agency tried installing a portable a/c in the bedroom but it was installed improperly and water was flooding the unit below us so we were forced to shut it off. We spoke with other guests who expressed similar issues, some even trying to sleep in the living room because of the unbearable heat in the bedrooms. I would not stay there again. To be fair, the rental agency did give us a minimal reduction in the cost but it was not enough to compensate for the lack of comfort we experienced.

It was excellent. Clean and comfy. Excellent response from property management. We had 2 minor issues and they were resolved promptly. The one issue that needs to be resolved is a larger ac unit. It is inadveryinadequate.

Amazing view!

We had an amazing time at Ma’alaea! The view from the condo is amazing and the sound of the crushing waves was spectacular. This is one of the windiest locations on the island which helped keeping the condo cooled off. We loved the location, the set up and the amenities of the condo. We would stay there again.

Nice Central Location

Overall the location was great in the center of Maui near the Aquarium so easy to go anywhere you needed to go. The apartment was good for a small group. It had good ameneties for cooking there on site except for some basic supplies that would be helpful. Maybe having some basic cooking spices and some coffee filters and basics for that would have been nice. Overall a good place for a small group.

Memorable place to visit

We had a wonderful time staying at your place. We got to see sea turtles and humpback whales from the balcony while enjoying delicious breakfast (thanks to fully equipped kitchen). Located in a quiet neighbourhood made it a cozy homebase after a day of excursion. Mahalo

Great Stay!

Great place to sit back and enjoy the fantastic and private ocean view. Everything was clean and well stocked. My only suggestion for an improvement is it would be nice if there was a place to sit and store shoes when entering the condo. A mixology set would also be nice.

Island Sands at Ma'alaea was heavenly, period.

The only issues we had were water dripping on deck, from AC unit making a huge amount of water. Everything was absolutely wonderful! I loved having the beach chairs & coolers there to use. It was the perfect get a way, I would highly recommend it and definitely return.

Location is perfect, building is showing its age

Initial impression was clouded by lack of lighting of the entrance pathway near the pool since we arrived after dark and a cockroach on the kitchen floor. When we talked to the property manager the following Monday, they informed us that the underground cables feeding those lights were damaged and overdue for repair. The kitchen was equipped very well so we were able to eat in instead of going to restaurants, which are very expensive in Hawaii. The rest of our time was delightful. We enjoyed the amazing views of the ocean, the sunrises over Mt Haleakala, watching sea turtles from our balcony, and the reflection of the full moon off the water at night. Downside is the fact that the bedroom is the warmest room in the apartment since A/C is a small window unit and located in the living room. When we opened both the front door and the balcony door the fierce winds blew right through and cooled the rest of the flat but not the bedroom. For those who care about pets n the building, they allow only service animals and we met several dogs which were very well-behaved and did not bark. We were unable to contact Maui Paradise Property Management prior to our arrival to see if the location was affected by the wildfires a week earlier and to find out if we needed to rebook a different location. VRBO was not helpful in that regard. Later found out that their office in Lahaina had completely burned down, but they still sent us the correct arrival info one week prior to arrival.

90 year old grandma does Hawaii!! WOW

We brought our 90-year-old mother here for her birthday. She had a fabulous time. She wanted to see the ocean and buy one last time. The views so amazing that she could sit on the lanai and look over at Haleakala in the ocean. Sleeping in the living room let her hear the sound of the ocean. At night you can see the lights of Kihei. We stayed close to the airport for mom. Turned out we loved the area. Nothing was too far for a drive. We went to everywhere and came home to the best view on Maui. Even had a local friend come over and he said wow it’s really nice here love to buy myself a place like this. The size of the unit concerned us, but in the end it was more than adequate for all three. The sofa bed was remarkably comfortable. And the king size bed, and a full dresser provided enough room to really unpack. We even had room for our wheelchair. Thank God we were in Maalea for the wind. The only bad thing is it is a really hot week and everything just gets hot. The trades were up, so keeping the door open let the cross breeze in. Full kitchen was great. We made the most amazing pasta with all local ingredients from farmers market and put the restaurants to shame. Having a washer and dryer is absolutely wonderful. The small pool was more than adequate and felt like a bathtub. All in all five stars. Plus we really try to check in early because of 90 year old mom. The cleaning staff is great. They were expeditiously in the morning texted us right away. MAHALO!!!

Fantastic condo in a great location!

We had a great time staying here. The view was amazing and we most days watching sea turtles while we ate dinner. The location is fantastic as it is minutes away from all the major areas. We will definitely be staying here again next summer!

Perfekte Wohnung direkt am Meer

Die Wohnung liegt direkt am Meer mit einem sehr kleinen Strand, an dem Abends die Meeresschildkröten zum Übernachten vor Anker gehen. In der Umgebung gibt es fussläufig einen größeren Strand, der sehr schön ist, wenn man die Campingeinheit am Anfang passiert hat. Zum Hafen von Ma’alaea und zum übrigens sehr schönen Maui Ocean Center läuft man fünf Minuten. Für einen Supermarkt sollte man aber eine Viertelstunde mit dem Auto einplanen. Die Wohnung ist in einem sehr gepflegten Komplex mit einem kleinen Pool, zwei Gasgrills und einem Parkplatz für jede Einheit. Sie ist sehr sauber und perfekt ausgestattet. Es ist alles da, was man braucht. Das Bett ist eines der gemütlichsten, in denen ich je geschlafen habe, und auch das Schlafsofa ist sehr bequem. Die Wohnung ist durchgehend mit Mückengittern ausgestattet, so dass man keine ungebetenen Gäste erwarten muss. Der Balkon zeigt zum Meer und auf eine unglaublich schöne Aussicht auf die Bucht und den Haleakala. Das Badezimmer hat alles, was man braucht, und für diejenigen mit langen, dicken Haaren einen Duschkopf, der vernünftig funktioniert (auch wichtig!). In der Wohnung gibt es eine kleine Klimaanlage. Aber da überall Ventilatoren hängen und immer ein Lüftchen weht, haben wir sie gar nicht einschalten müssen. Wir waren rundum glücklich mit und in dieser Wohnung. Sollten wir nochmal die Chance haben, um den halben Erdball zu reisen, dann kommen wir wieder!

Excellent stay!

The property was exactly as described and just as everyone else said...THE VIEW!!! It is truly breathtaking! We had the pleasure of seeing turtles coming every night for dinner on the rocks directly in front of our lanai. Everything you need to be comfortable is available for you, we even used the boogie boards and gave it a try! The bed is very comfortable and we left the back sliding door open every night to listen to the waves. 10 out of 10...highly recommend!!

Wonderful Condo With Amazing Views

We stayed in this condo in the beginning of may and absolutely loved it. The property manager was always attentive and made sure we were set up for when we arrive on the island. The sign in process is extremely simple. As well as the sign out process of the condo. The location of this condo is absolutely wonderful you are away from lots of the tourist crowds. The view from the patio is unreal, every night at around 4pm we could see sea turtles coming up to shore and one even came up on the beach to take a nap! I highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in Maui and not be in an overly crowded area!

Clean Location and amazing view

The view is to die for especially if you like watching the whales from the balcony! Loved the location as it was east to get north to Lahaina and south to Kihei. Felt safe in the community and a small general store in walking distance for coffee and light lunch. Very clean property.

Enjoyable and clean

Quiet location that was well maintained and clean. Bed was comfortable and felt new. Kitchen was dated but well kept, same with bathroom. Good value, saw turtles several times from balcony.
