Sibling Vacation

Stunning views from lounge/deck. I would describe this house as Retro kiwi bach style. It had everything we needed and was clean and tidy. Plenty of beds and 2 bathrooms (1up, 1 down) was great. Loved that we had access to beach from deck. Perfect for our holiday.

No air con in the hottest part of the summer. The stairs were a killer. No fan in the upstainrs bathroom. Windows down stairs are falling out and other windows need stays and hindges. No sky TV and the price we paid there should have been. Very hard to even get the TV going. I said we were all from a retirement village and that should have been a warning to more specific about the stairs.No good for kids with all the wires hanging out in the kitchen. The views were amazing but the furniture was horrible. We would never stay there again even if it was free. We have booked a house in Waikanae for 4 days over Xmas and now we are worried that it will be the same. Could you give me a phone number so I can talk to someone here in the Kapiti Coast please.

We had a good stay - I was surprised the beach house was as tired as it was, kitchen original etc but the layout worked for two families and the position right on the beach was amazing. Great communication from the host

Perfect Kiwi Bach

Perfect location at Waihi and Merryn was a wonderful host. We were three families of 4 with children 5-8 years old and this suited us down to the ground. Backwards and forwards from the beach all day, great deck to spend the evenings on and plenty of space for the kids to run around. If you’re into a great kiwi bach holiday then this can’t be faulted.

Perfect Beach Holiday Setting

Great house and an ideal location just a few steps walk over the lawn and down to the beach. The house is really nice with good equipment and utensils in the kitchen, good beds and bedding, towels and so on.Couple of surf boards and 4 boogie boards in the garden shed along with buckets and spades.Outside shower and toilet. Garden table downstairs. Outside table and chairs on the upstairs verandah.Nothing modern by any means but with kids we found it relaxing and just a perfect family holiday house.

Fantastic location.

Home was in great location. Home a little tired. In need of new heaters they are rusty and plug corrosion. Stairwell, spiral, very unsafe for children and safety rails definitely not to code. Top bunk bed has no safety rails. Some electrical? Home was well equipped though to meet needs for a holiday. We did enjoy our stay overall.

Amazing location and view - a bit old and quirky

The house is right on the beach and has an amazing view. The deck is a lovely gathering place for folks, and if you're a surfer, the water is 10 steps away. The layout is a bit quirky but worked well for us because the 2 downstairs bedrooms are across a room from each other, affording privacy. Communication with the owner was great - she was very responsive and flexible. Things to know: The house is old and is definitely a vacation home; nothing flash but everything works. My bed had sand in it, indicating the sheets hadn't been washed, but the sheets on the other two beds seemed to be clean. There's a charge for leaving your trash. It was a bit awkward asking my inlaws to take away our rubbish and recycling – definitely not typical for a VRBO.

Waihi beach Girls weekend

The location and house are fantastic. Photos from the deck and kitchen window didnt do it justice - could almost touch the sand. Could have stayed longer and definitely will return. The only negative is I think the airbed has a hole in it as it didnt stay up throughout the night. As we were using all the beds we noticed it. The house is well maintained in all other aspects so Im guessing the owners just arnt aware. Totally recommend ⭐️ ⭐️ Thank you

What a spot!

Absolute beachfront is correct. We had an amazing time away with our family and friends here. Loved being able to longline right outside the property and just being able to pop out for swim whenever we felt like it. Great location for walking to the shops etc as well. Christmas escape

With family from UK with their children aged 10 and a 6 month baby we escaped Auckland to Sunshine house right on beach. Swims before breakfast and walks along the beach and into town was so easy. It was the perfect location and room for us all with time out zones. Great stay.

Windy, wonderful, Waihi

This is a good old Kiwi bach, no frills. Comfortable, clean and had everything we could need. Being able to take our dog made everyone extra happy. A few steps to the magnificent beach which was always wild and very windy. Easy walk to the great local shops. Great stay, thank you.

Great location, however the house isn't as nice as the photos show.

We had a lovely time with family and the location was excellent for beach time with young kids. However, communication wasn't great at the start and I wasn't able to find the portacot that I had prearranged (it was tucked away under a bed) and because the owner lives in the northern hemisphere I wasn't able to get in touch with her quickly. The photos make this house look much nicer than it is and I felt it was in need of a thorough clean. We also had an issue with a lack of towels left for us as the previous guests had used most of them. It was advertised that there would be boogie boards for us to use (now removed) however we only found one boogie board that was broken. The owner was appreciative of me advising her of these issues and she has now put systems in place to ensure this doesn't happen to any future guests, which I am sure will make for a more comfortable stay.

Great location but house is very tired

The location is amazing so if you want to have a house on the beach then this is for you. However the house is very very tired. One of the showers leaked so we only had one shower for 6 people which wasn’t easy . We did report it but only got a reply that a plumber would be found. You also have to pay to take you’re rubbish and recyling to the waste disposal several miles away despite there being a rubbish recycling service for the house. So location is great but house desperately needs some tlc . Sandra

Superb spot

We had a girls weekend away with friends, mums & gran. What a stunning spot to relax & rejuvenate. Location right on the beach is perfection, and the house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Everyone raved about the spot, definitely worth a booking if you're considering it :)
