Aloha Susy, I am terribly sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. I have double checked with the housekeeper and neither of us have any missed calls, text or emails from you during your stay. She has checked the keypad, which was working fine, and replaced the batteries just for good measure. It's important to follow the instructions provided and wait until you hear the deadbolt unlock before opening the door. The bed frame has been replaced and we had an electrician come out to address the problem of the malfunctioning lights. Two sets of sheets and plenty of extra blankets and pillows are always kept in the master closet right above the cubby where the futons are stored. There's a small label on the shelf indicating that this is what they are for. I really wish we had heard from you about your discomfort. We would have done everything in our power to rectify any problems you encountered. My apologies again and safe onward travels.

Shipping delays have made this a tedious and lengthy process and I apologize for any discomfort. The hot tub repairman was just out at the house to fix the filter. Unfortunately, the guests directly before you were extremely hard on the house and the housekeeper really struggled to get everything prepared properly for your arrival. The door lock and loose towels racks, which were also a casualty of this heavy use, have since been repaired. We do provide a house manual booklet (right next to the TV) to explain how to use all electronic devices in the house. The replacement oven, after several shipping delays, is scheduled for installation in the last week of January. I am sorry that you were unhappy with our policy for access to the laundry room. As you mention, this is noted clearly in our listing so that guests can plan appropriately. Thank you again for your feedback and we are happy you enjoyed your time in Volcano! We used to hang a little sign in the gazebo reminding guests to shower off before getting in, but this wasn't the most attractive so we took it down. Sunscreen (especially the mineral-based and reef safe variants) are so hard to clean up properly. Perhaps we'll have to revisit the sign idea. To clarify for future guests, we do provide a generous starter set of paper products, though very large groups and longer stays may have to supplement. We try to strike a healthy balance between comfort and sustainability, as we have found that guests will use everything that is provided, no matter the quantity. The same goes for laundry detergent and fabric softener, which is why (paired with scent sensitivities and preferences) and we longer offer these products. I will certainly make a note of this in our amenities list. Finally, the sound that can be heard in the 1st Queen room is the water pump, which is an unfortunate but essential element of life in the Hawaiian rainforest. Every property on this part of the island has one and even though we have taken measures to dampen the sound, it's not possible to eliminate it completely. Aloha Ellen, I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed your time in the house and thank you for taking the time to give us such thorough and concrete feedback about how we can improve for our future guests. To address a few points that you mentioned: - The housekeeper usually leaves several extra rolls of paper towels under the kitchen sink. If you had given her a call she would have brought you over some extras right away. I apologize for this. - Pot holders, extra dish towels, and microwave safe containers are located in the pantry in the kitchen. Perhaps we should leave a little sign indicating this for future guests. Thank you for mentioning that! - Thank you as well for letting me know about the pots and pans. I had no idea they were not in a good state and will purchase replacements right away. Once again, I wish you had let us know while you were in the house and I could have taken care of this for you the very same day as I know how unpleasant it is to not have nice cookware. - We purposely leave the hot tub level a bit low since it can accommodate up to 6 people at a time and we want to avoid spill over onto the gazebo floor which can make it slippery and dangerous. The hose located right across from the gazebo can be used to add water according to personal preference and the temperature lock can be removed by pressing the lock button on the panel and then adjusting the temperature. - It's hard to gauge personal preferences about bedroom lighting but I will look into purchasing reading lights for the bedroom as it is, indeed, pleasant to be able to read at night without straining your eyes. - Mold is something we battle all the time in the rainforest. There's a delicate line we tread when trying to keep it at bay but not overusing harsh chemicals and detergents to do so. I have asked the housekeeper to double check the shower liners and to use the replacements we have on hand if she finds any mold on them.
