My wife and I (age 58) and our family, 15 adults 2 kids, decided to share our second vows here. Minutes before we started, a property manager called me and itinerantly accused us of having an unpermited public event.
"We know you have a caterer and a lot of cars. We know you have decorated. We know you have rearranged the furniture on the second floor." She gave me the third degree for five minutes. I was beyond alarmed, and insisted we had a small group, all family, we would be quiet and respectful (as we always are) and leave the place spotless (as we always do).
Five cars of family, a caterer's car and truck, photographer and hair stylist. That was all it took to trigger sending an unannounced "maintenance man" to investigate.
She hung up without saying anything was okay, and I rushed out to the family to decide what to do. I told my wife what had happened, and she said:
EVERYTHING, INCLUDING THE VENDORS, HAD BEEN CLEARED OVER THE PHONE WITH PROPERTY MANAGEMENT BEFORE BOOKING!
Of course. My wife is a VP and program manager at one of the largest banks in the US. She works every l;ast detail.
I remain beyond livid. I can't stop thinking about it. This is how a busybody HOA property manager operates, not the manager of a top shelf beachfront rental.
By the way, after the "maintenance man" "replaced" the propane in the fire pit - it didn't work.
