Had the opportunity to stay at the property and loved it! It was simple, elegant, and charming. The outside decor and high fences around the property made it seem like our own secluded resort. While the beautiful beach is only a very short walk (it is literally across the street), the pool was a great addition to break up the day, and keep cool in a more private atmosphere.
Bedrooms and bathrooms were in great condition, and the maid service does a great job in ensuring everything stays clean, especially considering all the sand that we can track in the house after a day at the beach. Beds were very comfortable, however we would recommend spending a bit extra for the air conditioning at night, particularly if you are normally from a cool climate. Also be sure to bring high intensity sunscreen insect repellent is a must (you can ask the driver to stop at the local store to get some - we recommend Nivea for sunscreen). As in any tropical location, mosquitoes and UV rays love tourists and you will want to be prepared
Seclusion is the idea when you come to Punta Rucia, so there is not much at all in terms of shops, stores, or restaurants anywhere nearby. While there is a good restaurant only a few steps away, we would very strongly recommend the maid Annie to double as your chef during your stay for the extra fee. She cooks amazing food and can fetch you fresh fish, lobster, and chicken as well as some great authentic Dominican breakfast. Be sure to speak with the owners Natalie and Carl-Phillipe to help you organize this beforehand, you will not be disappointed!
The rest of the staff is extremely pleasant and welcoming - just be advised that most people do not speak English. However they do understand some and will try their best to please and normally gets it right the first time. The chauffeur for the property also doubles as a boat captain who took us to Cayo Arena (Paradise Island) and a boat tour of the mangroves nearby, which is something not to miss while here!
As our last day of our vacation neared, we left bittersweet - sad to know that we were leaving (we told Annie that we already missed her before she left :) ) but happy to know of this place and the opportunity to soon make plans to return. Thanks to Natalie, Carl-Phillipe for allowing us to stay at their gorgeous property, and to the staff to helping us feel like we were home!
