We stayed at Cocobay Resort in Antigua in November, and overall we had an amazing time — but our experience was unfortunately impacted by a room issue that was never properly resolved.
When we arrived, we were not given the room we had booked. Instead, we were placed in a much smaller room with a significantly smaller plunge pool, located off to the side and mostly in the shade. Because of the lack of sun, the pool was cold and didn’t feel as clean or inviting as expected, which was disappointing given the price we paid.
On our last day, we were finally moved to the room we originally booked, and it was absolutely perfect — exactly what we had expected and paid for from the start.
Unfortunately, despite paying for a higher-tier room for the entire stay, the resort refused to provide any type of refund or price adjustment for the days we were placed in a smaller, lower-value accommodation.
That said, the beaches are absolutely stunning, some of the most beautiful we’ve ever seen. The food was wonderful at every single meal, and the servers and chef were truly exceptional — kind, attentive, and genuinely warm. Their hospitality played a huge role in making the trip enjoyable despite the room situation.
We still had a great vacation and many memorable moments, but the way the room issue was handled left a bad taste and prevented this stay from being perfect. With better transparency and guest care in situations like this, Cocobay could easily deliver a flawless experience.
