Knowing Vail prices are high, we thought we found a reasonably priced unit a little away from the resort. When we arrived, the 4 story building needed lots of maintenance with things like painting and decks needing repairs. So I didn't have any high hopes when we entered the unit. Wow! The Smell! It was an unmistakable dog urine smell and it was overwhelming us to a point of nausea. I sent an email to the property manager and then went out to shop for some air fresheners and candles. When we returned, due to the overwhelming stench, it took 30 minutes to get used to it. Finally went to bed forgetting about the smell. Middle of the night, when my nose was on the pillow, I smelled it again! It was awful and we were just mad. The email I sent? it came back to me with an automated reply saying that the manager was out of town until 2/13. We were there 4/1. I sent another email to his back up and then I never heard from him again.
I could tell that a cleaner tried to keep the rooms clean and tidy, but didn't she notice this urine smell? In addition, we pulled out some linen from the closet and they were all damp.
I didn't like the condition of the unit with outdated shag carpets(probably the origin of the smell), and we couldn't really go barefoot in the house because everything just felt nasty.
I CANNOT believe that this unit gets 4.9 stars overall. Disgusting.
