"We chose the Illinois River Valley because it is halfway between my home in Kentucky and my brother's home in Minnesota. It is in building Y nestled in a wooded corner of a cluster of lovely cedar-shingled fourplexes behind the Grand Bear Resort. You can walk to the St. Louis Canyon trail from the complex. "Came for Memorial Day weekend, and had a great time. Place was clean and very spacious. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. Walking distance to starved rock state park. A lot of cute local shops to check out. Great communication with host. Definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a chill getaway. 10/10 do recommend."

"A great all-around experience. Lot's of room to relax, a nice big kitchen with a breakfast bar, and all a stone's throw from Starved Rock. I loved the balcony off the bedroom and the jacuzzi. The Grand Bear lodge has a great bar as well. Great restaurant options between Utica, Peru and Ottawa, or venture over to the Starved Rock state park lodge restaurant."

"Great place with all the necessities. Quiet and relaxing place. Great communication with Robert. Easy access. The Grand Bear Resort has a nice little mini golf, corn hole and outdoor bar area which was nice to hang out with friends and family. Starved Rock Park was a quick drive. Utica was a cute little town with many good food options. Would recommend staying here - and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!"

"We liked how well stocked it was. Nice and cozy. Only complaint was furniture was uncomfortable . We were there to hike and see the sights. Had a rainy day so was inside. Great place to stay though. Would definitely stay again."
