Great place to have a night before Hobbiton. Everything perfect.The owner was very nice and she explained how to get there. She put the heater on before arrival to be warm at our arrival. Matamata is a quiet town, but surorisinglu, there are many places to have dinner.

Would have been great but the hot water went out on Christmas Eve and it seems no one was available to fix the problem. Good communal gas grill and great location. Rooms nice and clean.
