Agree with other reviewers: this is a great property, with an exceptionally well-stocked kitchen, and the homeowners were very helpful. The downstairs tv is massive and they have a great DVD collection. If you want to watch tv from a laptop, bring an HDMI cable, as it's not a smart tv. We hope to stay here again.

solid with great hosts

We'll stay again if we have the chance. Luxurious is a stretch, but the kitchen is nice, and the oven is luxurious! The hosts are organized. Would have been nice if they would have had the snow on the deck cleared to make using the grill easier. Also, some folks might have minded having to shovel snow for an hour to use the garages when we arrived, but I enjoyed the workout :)The showers are the weakest feature. Also, I'm sure they didn't mean to intrude, but it was weird that someone came to service the hot tub out back & they didn't tell us they were coming by.

The Perfect Cabin

Had an amazing long weekend at John’s cabin. Quiet and tranquil location in the woods. It was the perfect location. Loved the fully stocked kitchen and hot tub. Our group had an amazing stay and we’d definitely be back.

Cozy cabin in a great location

This spot was perfect for our family summer vacation. The home was well appointed and comfortable. The game room downstairs was a great gathering spot for a game of pool or some TV time. The location was amazing - the trail head just down the block became our favorite morning walk. We also enjoyed the Truckee area and how close everything was and especially Donner Lake and the surrounding trails and hikes. The amenities of Tahoe Donner were also fun - we loved trivia night at Alder Creek. The hosts were very responsive and helpful! Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking in the Truckee area. We hope to return soon.

Wonderful stay at Tahoe Donner

We love going to Donner Lake in the summer, and we really loved this property. The house was exactly as advertised, very comfortable, and well-stocked. It has 3 bedrooms on the main floor, and a large family room with bunks, a trundle, and a sleeper sofa on the ground floor. We had adults upstairs and college-age kids on the ground floor. The main floor has newly-installed air-conditioning (hard to find in this area) which was a huge plus because it was in the 90s during the day. The downstairs stayed cool even without A/C, so we were all comfortable. The house has a pool table and a hot tub, and we enjoyed all the Tahoe Donner amenties, including the fitness center, hiking trails, and the lake itself. The house was very clean when we arrived, and clearly the hosts have put a lot of thought into stocking the kitchen with cooking utensils etc. The location was great - an easy, flat 15 minute trail walk to the Trout Creek Rec Center, and a short drive to Donner Pass Road and downtown Truckee for shopping and restaurants. Communication with the hosts was excellent. Overall, great stay. We recommend it, and we would stay here again.

Perfect Tahoe Donner house

The house was perfect for our family. It was an easy drive to Tahoe. The house is extremely well maintained, and we had a great stay. The owners communicated well with us and made a check in easy.

Wonderful weekend stay

We had an absolutely wonderful stay. The home was not only beautifully appointed and comfortable but also very clean and spacious, with big windows that offered lovely views of the surrounding trees. Couches and beds were super comfortable. The yard was a highlight, providing a great space to play in the snow, and the pool table was incredibly fun and enjoyed by all, kids and adults alike. There’s a fun hot tub on the deck too. We also enjoyed the opportunity to cook in the well-equipped kitchen, which made meal times a joy. The hosts were incredibly responsive and helpful, making sure that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Additionally, the location of the home was perfect, close to a variety of great activities that Tahoe Donner has to offer. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend this vacation rental to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in the Tahoe Donner area.

Lovely gem in a great location

This place is a gem. Wonderful area, close to slopes and the town of truckee. The house itself is lovely and the kitchen is stocked like someone actually lives there. It was perfect for our girls’ get away. We cooked, hung out, sat in the hot tub after skiing and snow shoeing and had a great time all around.

We had a wonderful long weekend in this beautiful cabin. The location is centrally located. We thoroughly enjoyed the kitchen. The beds were comfortable - even the downstairs bunk beds. We would happily return.

Summer Family Gathering

The Perfect Tahoe/Donner Weekend

This was the perfect home for our family wedding weekend. John and Karen were more than accommodating and answered any questions I had (I needed an ironing board and iron) within minutes. Spring Break Family Ski Trip

Great cozy cabin housed our 3 young kids & my parents. Kids slept on the bunk bed (trundle underneath was a bonus) in the ground level family room that had the pool table and hot tub on the deck. Adults were upstairs on the main level. 3 bathrooms were perfect for everyone to have their own space. Beds were very comfortable. Plenty of towels and the washer/dryer on the main upstairs level came in handy. We entered through the garage which fit one large suv but parked the second car in the driveway as there was too much snow blocking the second garage spot. The Donner Ski Resort was just 6 minutes away. Really perfect spot for our family with fully stocked cooking supplies,spices, oils, paper towels, tp, coffee filters etc!

Amazing ski chalet close to all resorts

Our family stayed for a week and didn’t want to leave! The house was not only clean and well appointed with extra linens, cleaning supplies etc. but the owner remotely turned on the heat for us to ensure we’d arrive to a cozy space. Two car garage that accommodates two SUVs was incredible given the level of snowfall. Tahoe Donner hoa plows the driveway so we didn’t lift a finger. Our group included 4 adults and 4 kids but the house had plenty of space for both mealtime gatherings and to retreat into separate spaces when we wanted to. Less than 10 minute drive to groceries, restaurants and gas and only 20-30 minutes to Palisades, Northstar or Sugarbowl. We can’t wait to go back!

Wonderful!!

The house exceeded our expectations and was lovely! It really felt like home. The accommodations were very comfortable and the kitchen was stocked, not like the typical rental. We were there during a big snow storm and with the food we brought and the lovely kitchen were able to easily cook delicious meals to enjoy around the large dining table. Overall, we couldn’t have had a better place to stay and the hosts were very responsive and helpful.

Wonderful home in spectacular location

We stayed at this home shortly after the holidays with my parents and 3 kids. It was the perfect spot for all ages to enjoy the fresh fallen snow, do some skiing, sledding and just enjoy the scenery. The basement was a great space for my older kids to hang out. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and more. It is a very close drive to Tahoe Donner making it easy to get to the chair lift for “fresh tracks”. Since we were there during a large snow storm, John and his wife were very thoughtful and checked in to be sure we were plowed out and didn’t have any issues. Overall a very memorable stay and we definitely hope to be back.

Terrific Tahoe home

Our group had a wonderful stay. The home is beautiful, and great for families and large groups. Beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed to cook and enjoy the holiday week together. Location is a convenient jumping off point for accessing north lake ski spots and just minutes to tahoe donner ski hill, a great place for young kids to learn. Hosts are friendly, very responsive and easy to communicate with. Would definitely stay again!

Great location and layout

Our family of 6 visited the house for the Thanksgiving week and enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. The house was clean with lots of space for the kids to keep apart and also come together for playing in the game room downstairs. Location is close enough to Truckee yet far enough away to be a nice getaway if you want to keep to yourself.

We were a group of 5: Two 50 somethings and three early 20 somethings. Loved every minute. The house is clean, beautifully furnished and appointed. The open kitchen/living room, where we spent much of our time hanging out, cocktails, and (ick) even some work, was sunny, comfortable and had every pot, pan, knife (yes!), platter, bowl, and tool we needed. The hot tub, pool table and family room downstairs is where we spent the later hours soaking, relaxing, and playing. An added bonus was being able to use both sides of the two car garage- it saved us from scraping cars in the morning and made loading and unloading cars easy peasy. My constructive criticism would be to upgrade wifi service (if possible) as while it is available and working, I got kicked out frequently while I worked. Many, many thanks for a first class experience :)

Perfect getaway for 2 families

This house has plenty of room to be together and find pockets of privacy! With two families the pool table was perfect for some friendly competition. It was so easy to get to ski area and snowplay. This was the time away we needed!
