  • After three years off the VRBO market, we are glad to be back. This one bedroom cottage has been designed exclusively for two. The cottage is nestled in the heart of Wisconsin’s Driftless Region in the back waters of the Mississippi River. Wake up to mornings filled with birds singing, explore nearby trails, bike scenic river roads, or enjoy the River on your boat. At the end of the day, spend your evenings unwinding under the stars.

    This is a place to slow down—perfect for couples who want nature, privacy, and simplicity without the crowds.

    Located just minutes from Perrot State Park, Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge, the Great River State Trail, and Elmaro Vineyard, the cottage is ideally situated for outdoor adventures and scenic exploration.

    Long Lake Boat Landing is just 1/8 mile away, offering easy access for boating, kayaking, and fishing. Guests can also bike into the Village of Trempealeau to enjoy local restaurants, river views, and a relaxing evening along the Mississippi River.

    Inside, the cottage is thoughtfully decorated to feel warm, comfortable, and inviting. Enjoy soft linens, plush towels, a comfortable queen bed, and a fully stocked kitchen with everything needed for an easy and relaxing stay.

Perfect cottage right on the lake.

What a perfect location. Short bike ride to town. Bikes were in excellent condition. Lake across the road from cottage was perfect to kayak. Was great to have kayaks provided. Anything you would ever need was provided at the cottage. Grill, fire pit, life jackets, fishing poles, coolers, etc. It was all there. Website for cabin was very helpful for local restaurants and things to do. Cabin was immaculate. Very comfortable, well maintained and very clean. Could not be better. Loved it

Perfect in every way

We loved the location -- near, but not in Trempealeau. We were also close to the bluffs in LaCrosse for hiking, the Trempealeau wildlife refuge, many bird watching locations, etc. The cottage was spotless and well equipped with everything we needed., and Beth was a gracious and responsive host. We'll be back! Thank you!

November weekend stay

Long Weekend Getaway

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in the fall to celebrate my retirement. The home was spotlessly clean, had more than usual amenities (use of bikes and kayaks available), was perfect size for 2, had a beautiful view with bird watching, all set in a very quaint small village. Would definitely recommend this home and area.

Cozy and just like advertised

Everything was just as describe. Cozy and clean. Bikes and kayaks were great. Watching birds out window was very relaxing. Several things to do and places to eat in the area. Communication with hosts was great and the rental was well equipped. We’ve stayed several rentals and there always seems to be something missing. This place had everything we needed.

This is a very nice cabin. Close to bars and resturants. The owners are very nice!!

Love the cabin and the location. Plenty to do and see in all the neighboring towns. The owners are awesome. It is very clean and well kept up. Would highly recommend!!

Nice weekend on the river.

We had a great time renting this place for the weekend. It is located right across the street from the water, so putting the kayaks in only required carrying them across the yard. The house is small, but that is all that is needed for 2 people. It was very clean and not lacking any necessities. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, and even more within a short drive. We had no issues with our stay.

Bird watching dream

Clean cabin. Perfect for two. On second level so must be willing to do stairs. Bird feeders and Long Lake view from living room. Close to Lacrosse and hiking and biking trails.

Lake Road Cottage

September 2021 We opened the door to a sparkling clean, inviting living room. Sun shining through the spotlessly clean picture window was an important feature to enhance the spectacular bird watching. Every comfort of home—and then some—enhance a week of rest and relaxation. The environs offer a nature center, a wildlife refuge, a magical Stonehenge—type attraction, outstanding museums, antiquing, and nature galore. We’re elderly visitors and were pleased with the comforts in every room. Finally, Autumn is a fine season to visit. It’s quiet, not too hot, and the leaves are beginning to show their colors. I wish I could give ratings of more than 5 stars! The cottage is excellent. It is super clean and everything you need is right there from kitchen supplies to toiletries to cable, etc. It was just like being at home but with exceptional scenery!

Amazing stay with great hiking and kayaking opportunities.

This is the second time I have stayed at this beautiful property and can’t wait to return someday. Absolutely amazing communication with the host and they have thought of everything at the place itself. We loved our stay. It was comfortable, convenient, and tucked away in a nice relaxing area. 10/10

Relaxing getaway

Me and my wife spent 3 days in Trempealeau WI and was perfect retreat. WI was our last state to end our bucket list of visiting all 50. The 1 BR cottage on the river had everything needed for a comfortable relaxing stay. We enjoyed morning coffee watching all the birds in the front yard to start the day. We hiked in the parks, kayaked with owners kayaks, went local winery and ate great local food in town. Also owners are fantastic. Great communication all around. When our flight got changed and we had to give up a day they reimbursed us for that day. We did not expect a refund because that was not their fault but tells what kind of people own this VRBO. I will recommend this place to all coming to area.

Clean and Comfy

My daughter and I had a great time at Lake Road Cottage. It was nicely furnished and the neighborhood was very quiet. We were pleased to put the kayaks in just across the road. We saw eagles and herons while kayaking. Our hosts, Beth and Mark made checking in very easy and texted to make sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed having coffee out on the porch and watching the many birds at the feeders. I would recommend this place without any problem.

Birthday Getaway!

When my trip to Maine fell through last minute to see family for my birthday I was extremely disappointed. Than we came across this gem last minute. It checked every box … on the water … kayaks and bikes provided … wood for a fire … bird watching and grill and kitchen to cook in !!! When we arrived we were blown away by how clean and well maintained the property was. Decor and attention to detail made relaxing after a long fun day that much more enjoyable! From the moment we booked communication was outstanding and throughout the trip we were checked on to ensure we had all we needed ! The town has so many things to do from simple fishing to wineries … beer garden … and neighboring towns to check out !! Only complaint was a poor experience to the local supper club in town. We can’t wait to book again and explore more !!!

Weekend getaway

Beyond all expectations!

LRC was an incredible experience and the hosts take "attention to detail" to a whole new level. Celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary with friends in a region where my paternal ancestors embarked on their journey to Aneta, North Dakota in the 1880's, we were embraced by the Trempealeau Village residents and made to feel as if we'd belonged there all along. Also, seeing the SPACEX satellite launch under the clear skies on Saturday evening was a spectacular thing to witness in the sky and something that certainly kept us chatting until we saw the news the next day. Relaxing getaway

This was a great quarantine getaway. I have food allergies and was able to cook all my meals at the cabin. We were also able to take hikes around the area without running into too many other people. Beth was great about responding to texts asking about bug spray and hikes.

Everybody talks about how clean and well stocked the cottage is/ I can say that all the reviewers are right. I was impressed on the facilities and the impeccable condition of the place. IN these times , feeling safe is one of the most important qualities we looked for when we booked and I am more than happy with my decision. I felt comfortable and safe. We had an awesome time in the cottage and exploring all the places suggested by Beth: Perrot park, wildlife refuge, Kinstone etc. I enjoyed our time there very much. I just wish we could have stayed one or two more days! I t was very cool to use the kayaks! it was our first time and we loved it!

Relaxing stay

We were pleasantly surprised how nice the property was. It was very clean and organized. Everything that we needed was provided for us. The kayaks and bikes were used through-out our stay and it was nice to have access to them. We would recommend friends and family to stay.

Great 3 day get away

Nice property, exactly as described. A short walk to the water to put the kayaks in. Nice easy paddle around the 4.5 mile loop around the the lake next to the river. A short drive to the state park for a few nice hikes. Wisconsin bike trail close by. Kitchen had just about everything one could want. Good selection of basic seasonings. Decent knives, pots and pans. Beth was in touch every step of the way and was a great communicator.

Anniversary Getaway

We had a wonderful time at this cabin- it was sparkling clean and smelled fresh from the moment we walked in! The amenities are amazing, exactly what was in the pictures and more! Birdwatching from the deck was a treat- so many woodpeckers up close, BlueJays and cardinals too! We enjoyed the kayaks and the beautiful scenery - we even saw a bald Eagle catch a fish right in front of us, turtles, fish jumping, muskrats.... the fishing was fun right out in front of the cabin or off the banks across from the cabin. The best part was relaxing at night and cooking delicious meals- the kitchen was perfect and well stocked. We had a fantastic time and look forward to coming again!

Along the Flyway

Wonderful property! Great location for exploring on bikes, kayaks or foot. Cabin is fabulously stocked with books, toys, dvds, great spices and even yoga mats. Owners are quick with communication and offer lots of great advice about the area. Looking forward to returning soon!
