Olea - My Home in Como

  • Treat yourself to a romantically flavoured stay in a characteristic setting away from mass tourism. Once an olive oil mill - the impressive olive tree in the garden bears witness to this, the living context of Olea will offer you breathtaking views of the private harbor - where you can also rent a boat with a skipper, Lake Como, and the Comacina Island. Moreover, just crossing the garden will lead you to a swim in the lake. The interiors are bright, and the wooden ceilings with exposed beams make the apartment cosy indeed. An ideal place to spend a tranquility-filled holiday that you will cherish over time.



    ADDITIONAL INFO

    This apartment is spread over two floors and can accommodate up to 4 people. The loft on the upper floor houses the sleeping area, including a double bedroom, 2 single bedroom, and a bathroom with a shower. On the lower floor, you will find the living area, including a fully equipped kitchen with a dining table and a living room with a sofa and a television. The loft is equipped with air conditioning, allowing you to keep the spaces cool even on the lower floor.

    ACCESSIBILITY

    The apartment is located on the second floor and is accessible by stairs, as there is no lift. Additionally, there are a few steps inside the apartment to access the loft level.

    You can conveniently park your car in a small square near the property. Furthermore, a private parking available for guests is located about 250 meters uphill from the apartment.

    NEIGHBORHOOD

    This apartment is located in the Ossuccio village in Tremezzina: a 20-min walk to Villa del Balbianello and a 30-min drive (by car) to the historic center of Como.



    GETTING AROUND

    We advise our guests to reach the property by car, but it is still feasible to travel to and from Ossuccio using public transportation. There is an ASF Autolinee bus stop near the property, and line C10 can take you to Como city and other lakeside towns. Tickets can be obtained from the driver (cash only) or in some designated places. The nearest ticket selling point is Edicola Larese in Via Statale, 49. Please note that the buses don't run very often and services stop at around 10 pm! Taxi rides are available from Como, but not easily attainable in the region. In Ossuccio, it will be almost impossible to get a taxi.

    The nearest ferry station is in Lenno, and the local ferry service will take you to Bellagio or Como, or other towns.

    From Como, it is easy to travel to Milan and Switzerland (Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno) by train. There are also public ferries traveling to other lakeside towns from the pier in Como center.

    The nearest airports are Milano Malpensa, Milano Linate, and Orio Al Serio in Bergamo. It is possible to arrange a direct shuttle to and from the airport at an additional cost.

    TIPS

    >To travel and walk around Lake Como, especially in the little towns, comfortable shoes are a must.

    >There are many public drinking-water fountains in the little towns, and the water is safe to drink unless stated otherwise. Tap water is also drinkable. You can carry your own refillable bottle!

    >If you are looking for an easy hike in the area and want to enjoy mountain views anyway, Lake Como Greenway is an easy-to-follow trail that doesn't require too much walking uphill. The Greenway connects the lakeside towns from Colonno to Griante and goes through Ossuccio. Look for signs indicating Greenway in the area!

    >From Ossuccio, you can take the taxi-boat to Isola Comacina.

    >In Italy, many shops (especially the little ones) and services are closed in the middle of the day, so be careful to plan your shopping accordingly.

    >Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. For those who wish to dwell in the water, however, there are some options. In the near vicinity, there is Lido di Ossuccio and Lido di Lenno. In other little towns, there are more tiny beaches and lakeside bars. Lido di Bellagio and pebbly San Giovanni beach will be waiting for those who wish to cross the waters and explore the beautiful town of Bellagio. Locals and visitors also enjoy traveling to Nesso on the other coast where the bravest swimmers can jump into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall.

    >Lake Como is located in a mountainous region. The surrounding pre-Alps might not seem very high, but the climate is nevertheless affected by the nearby mountains, and temperatures can change quickly. Be particularly attentive to the weather when hiking, and bring some warm and waterproof clothes with you!

We had an amazing stay at Hotel Olea! Coming from the US, we would totally recommend this stay as it was quiet and was in such a great area filled with culture. Thank you My Home in Como for having us!

Everything as advertised and more

Beautiful setting and location on the lake. Loved the private dock, made friends with the ducks while enjoying the view of Isola Comacina and the mountains on the other side of the lake. Very functional kitchen, cozy living area and great balcony views.

Great location and views! Property could provide a few amenities to allow guests to fully appreciate it (e.g. chairs to enjoy the sun and garden, guest guide with recommendations nearby instead of generic Lake Como suggestions that are 45 mins away, WiFi that works and supports communicating with the property manager).

The home was clean, quiet and comfortable. It was well appointed with everything we needed. The entrance to the home was very historic and picturesque. Be prepared for some walking but it’s well worth it.
