Flat 304 Front and Union

  • The Flats at Front + Union (100 E Front Street, Traverse City, MI) is a boutique hotel that sits on the most prominent corner of downtown Traverse City, the corner of Front St and Union St. One block away from everything, including the beaches, marina, nightlife and downtown Traverse City restaurants. Each Flat comes with its own downtown parking spot.

    We have 6 Flats:
    -two 1 bdrm/bath that sleeps 4 (Flat 205 and 304)
    -two 2 bdrm/2 bath that sleeps 4 (Flat 201 and 301)
    -two 3 bdrm/2 bath that sleeps 6 (Flat 203 and 302)

    This listing is Flat 304

    Each flat is immersed in downtown Traverse City. You can walk to everything.

    The corner units, Flat 201 and Flat 301 have views of West Bay down Union Street. Flat 302 has floor to ceiling windows facing Front St, the main street in downtown Traverse City. Flat 205 and 304 face west for the sunset. Flat 203 faces south and has bedrooms that are tucked into the building and show off the brick construction from 1890.

    Each flat includes a fully equipped modern kitchen. We are proud to offer plush king beds adorned with soft linens locally sourced from Eelo (you can find our website by searching “Eelo Traverse City”). Eelo is owned by the Vander Roest family (one of the two families that own Front and Union) and occupies the ground floor retail space of the Front and Union building. Eelo sources, designs and manufactures its own organic, fair trade household linens. It has been reported in reviews that our linens will provide some of the best sleep you’ll ever have. The flats are fully furnished with a Scandinavian feel, functional, yet simple.

    The Flats at Front + Union are located within the historic Masonic Building, built in 1890 and repurposed into a multi use building in 2023 by two local Traverse City families.

    For Summer, West Bay beach, the marina and open space are all one block away. The Sleeping Bear Dunes are within a 45 minute drive.

    In the Fall, enjoy a daytime color tour in Leelanau or Old Mission Peninsula followed by dinner and drinks at the famous Restaurants in downtown Traverse City.

    Winter activities include skiing at local ski hills, Hickory and Mt Holiday, day trips to Boyne Mountain or Crystal Mountain, cross country or skate skiing at the VASA trail, or a simple snowshoe at Sleeping Bear Dunes.

    For a real treat, visit us in the Spring. No crowds. It is a time of rejuvenation in Northern Michigan.

Just like Home, peaceful and comfortable!!

We loved every minute, from walking into our Flat to all of our favorite things in Traverse City. From Restaurants, shopping and enjoying being right on Front street! The Flat was equipped with more than the essentials, wine glasses, great coffee pot and more. The bedding was like sleeping on kryptonite, so luxurious and warm. Can't wait to come back!! Great Hosts!

Wonderful newly renovated property

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautifully restored building with a great location. The furnishings were comfortable and the property was spotless. The convenient downtown location meant there was quite a bit of noise at night from the bars next door, but the building itself was quiet. Eminently walkable location with quick access to the beach and restaurants.

Absolutely Perfect!

The Flats are located right downtown and honestly make the trip so much easier! Taking away the stress of parking and dealing with time limits allowed us to enjoy the shops way more than we have in the past! It was also great that we could order food and take it back to the apartment to have cozy movie nights! I would 100% book with The Flats the next time that we’re in Traverse City!

We absolutely loved this place. The unit was so clean and neat and had everything we needed. The location was absolutely perfect and parking was not an issue at all because we had our own assigned spot. I would definitely stay here again! The communication was great also! Planning my next stay!

The flat is terrific - beautifully renovated and decorated - a really fun space. The location can’t be beat. Private parking spot right out back could not be more convenient. Very comfortable bed and kitchen amenities like the Mocamaster coffeemaker were very much appreciated. I am already planning my next stay!

End of Summer Vacation

I loved my stay at The Flats The process was seamless and was above expectations. Steve was very attentive The Flat had everything needed and I loved it felt like I was at home. Location is perfect to all the restaurants, shopping and coffee shops. Loved walking out the door in the morning grabbing a coffee and walking the TART. Will definitely book again

Fantastic!

Beautiful place all around. It was super clean, in a perfect location in downtown (with reserved parking), and the owner was super responsive and helpful (thanks Steve). I traveled for business and I will definitely be back the next time I am in town. Too bad I can't give 6 stars!

Great Stay, Accommodating Host

The flat was comfortable, clean, and well appointed. I was provided ample information ahead of my arrival, knew exactly what to expect, and the host responded quickly to all communications. The mattress provided a few great nights of sleep and I would not hesitate to book again in the future.

New, clean, centrally located.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The property was very clean and had all the amenities you would need for a long weekend away. The location was perfect for walking everywhere downtown. The neighbor was quite loud at night for our younger kids but we knew that was a possibility being right on Union Street and next to the bars. We would definitely stay here again, Steve was great to deal with as well. Thanks again!

Perfect

Just an amazing place for a downtown Traverse City stay! Parking right outside the door of the building, spotless accommodations, relaxing. We were able to walk to restaurants, shopping, and a comedy show. So much less stressful than having to always drive & then find a place to park. I had several questions before booking and communications were answered promptly. Don’t hesitate on this one!

A Most Excellent Place for a Vacation!

We had a wonderful experience in Traverse City, especially with our accommodations at the Flats at Union and Front. The online booking process was clear and easy to follow. Their website had excellent suggestions for local restaurants, grocery stores, and outdoor adventures. The unit had everything we needed to have a comfortable vacation. The central location provided us with the opportunity to enjoy Traverse City’s eclectic food scene and shopping experiences in the downtown area. There were also many adventures that were within a thirty minute drive or an easy bike ride on paved trails. The racks inside the building allowed us to securely and safely store our bikes. We returned refreshed and relaxed after our week long stay and will definitely be planning a return trip next September. .

Wonderful Stay and at a great location

We were making our first trip out to Traverse City and we were looking for a larger space since we are traveling with a toddler. Being able to put a toddler down for a nap in a separate room is a big deal for us. We were really happy to find this rental that feels like it would be on some of the other booking platforms which have gone way out of hand lately. We were able to enjoy a central location in Traverse city - we were able to easily get out to 2 of the nearby lighthouses, Torch lake and be able to enjoy the local amenities like the street festival on Friday and farmers market on Saturday. Having your own dedicated reserved parking space is such an added bonus. We were able to park and be in our flat in less than a minute. We will definitely be returning to this location and as our party size expands we're happy to see there are even larger flats available. Highly recommend and the booking process was very streamlined with excellent communication throughout.
