  • Dating to the 1750s, this spacious and rambling retreat was once the village bakery and now makes a fantastic holiday retreat for larger families and groups of friends. Lying at the heart of the twin seaside villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, the house is a great base for exploring the beautiful beaches, quaint market towns and glorious countryside along the Cornwall/Devon border. Cawsand Bay has a lovely sheltered beach, perfect for canoeing and paddleboarding, or you can take a trip by ferry across to the bustling Royal William Yard in Plymouth (9 miles). The property is perfect for exploring the Rame Peninsula via the South West Coast Path, with landmarks and highlights including the Rame Head Heritage Coast, the Mount Edgcumbe Folly, Powell Cove and the National Trust house Antony, all within 6 miles. Port Eliot Gardens and Adrenalin Quarry are also within easy reach (both within 14 miles).


    The ground floor of this characterful hideaway offers two charming lounges with whitewashed stonework. The first lounge overlooks the street, with the second featuring a welcoming wood burner (wood is not supplied, guests can purchase locally) and a Smart TV. The ground floor also has an elegant dining room, with a step up leading into the traditional, sympathetically updated and fully equipped kitchen, which retains the original, but sadly no longer in use, village bread oven. There is also a useful WC on this floor. Stairs from the lounge go up to the first floor, where you will find the large and invigorating family bathroom with an oval-shaped bathtub and separate shower. The first floor also offers two cosy bedrooms: a double and a triple, the latter has a small balcony beyond the French windows. Guests will enjoy the stylish cinema room with ample seating and a large wall-mounted TV; from here an open tread spiral staircase heads up to a bright and airy single bedroom. On the second floor, there’s a large double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, plus another single room/study with French windows.


    From the smaller bedroom, three steps lead out onto the enclosed and decked roof terrace. With plenty of garden furniture, this delightful spot is perfect for a morning coffee or a drink in the evenings. Parking can be found in the nearby public car park.
