Very nice, but not “luxury”.

First and foremost, we enjoyed our stay and the host was very responsive and addressed any issues that arose immediately. I hesitated giving a review, because I in no way want to disparage the owner, but I want to be honest. For the price-point, the home is very nice, but we did not find it to be up to the “luxury” status of the listing. Our recommendation would be that the grounds, interior and exterior of the home, deck, boat and boat dock storage get a good cleaning prior to the summer rental season. We rented the boat for the week and spent everyday enjoying the lake. The boat ran great, but we were a little shocked at its overall condition. A current photo and description of the boat would be nice so renters know what to expect. Perhaps housekeeping could check the boat after each rental to ensure it’s ready for the next guest. Previous renters had left trash in the cubbies and we found the cubbies too dirty to use. For the interior of the home, we had some housekeeping concerns that were immediately addressed and resolved by the host. It would be nice if there was a coffee table or end tables in the living room so we could set a drink or snack down. Overall, we had a nice time and the host addressed all of our concerns immediately by sending someone out to the rental. There is a second fridge in the basement which is a nice added bonus. The fire pit was enjoyable as well. There aren’t too many steps from the house to dock which is nice.

Great place, very organized and structured making familiarizing the property a breeze! Fantastic communication and easy to work with. We loved the location, availability of amenities, and having an on-site boat for rental without having to go to the marina. Great stay, thank you!

PRIVACY VIOLATION

Bottom line up front. THIS OWNER VIOLATED OUR PRIVACY. The owner of this property did not disclose that there were two RING cameras on the property. One of which was pointed in such a way that you could not enter or exit the hot tub without being picked up by the camera. The other camera was pointed at the dock area. We found it creepy that the owner had the cameras placed in such a way that he could monitor, at will, the two locations on the property where guests would be most likely to be in bathing suits. We were very upset about the cameras and after alerting VRBO we contacted the Macon County Sheriff who talked through the situation with the county legal firm for us. We were especially outraged over the owner's attempt to deceive and then gaslight us into thinking that I had just missed the detail on the property description. He changed the property description after I confronted him. Not the sort of thing you would expect from an active duty Air Force officer and someone who leaves religious material in every bedroom. Also, there are no screens on the windows and doors making it impossible to open them for fresh air without mosquitos coming in, the beds are horrible, the main floor has staples in the wood that stick up and are a hazard, the main deck furniture is worn out and uncomfortable, and the dryer is so worn out that it catches laundry between the drum and the rim and damages it. Cheap doesn't begin to describe this owner.

Great family house on the lake

This was the perfect house for my family to celebrate Thanksgiving. The 3 living levels worked perfectly for my wife and kids, the top level for my wife and I, the middle level for my son, his wife, and 1-year old, and the bottom level for my other son, his wife, and their 2-year old. Each level has its own full bath. The kitchen was very well equipped. Plenty of pots and pans for our Thanksgiving feast. The hot tub overlooking the lake couldn't have been more perfect for the cool nights. My grandson was excited to feed the ducks that came to visit the dock. Plenty of nearby hiking areas. The host, Mike, could not have been any more hospitable. He responded very quickly any time we had a question. There's a reason he is a "Premier host". We have traveled and rented many places around the country for 15-20 years, this place is one we will remember forever.

Week-long spring break getaway

Great location and beautiful cabin. Expect occasional power outages and may possible issue with hot water system requiring reset. Drive is not as bad as expressed in listing if you are used to backcountry roads. Would be nice to have a little furniture on dock and clearing of debris / building materials from under / around deck areas. Lower lever entertainment area us great. Internet better than advertised.

Beautiful cabin in a private corner of the lake

This cabin was great. The views down the lake from the living area, the wrap around decks, the fire pit and the dock were fabulous. There was plenty of room for the whole family to stretch out, to interact with each other and to relax. Everything was well stocked and easy to find. The host was informative and kept in touch throughout the stay. The fireplace provided great ambiance every evening. We stayed here for the Winter holiday and would love to return for the Summer.
