Restful location

This property, which not directly on the beach, has a great ocean view. Cons: If you have knee issues or any mobility issues, be forewarned that all bedrooms are in the basement while the kitchen and den are on the top floor. Also, the shower is tiny. Pros: great view of ocean, several outdoor gathering placed to eat or just rest, and close proximity to good restaurants

Beautiful view, cosy inside

We’ve stayed at many places in Oceanside and the Blue Door now ranks as my favorite. The large windows and upper deck give are the best. The house is simply but pleasantly furnished and the kitchen very well appointed. The bed was comfortable and the lower deck Provided another nice outdoor space.

The Blue Door

The view! Amazing even when its raining. Love the charm of this place, it was very clean and definitely worth while. Seashell and rock hunting on the beach was a great time, and the people are very welcoming. Overall great stay, love the location.

Northwest trip

Property was great! Would have liked to use wood stove. Mattresses need to be replaced. GPS took us to property 2 streets lower where those owners said that there are a steady stream of misdirected tenets from The Blue Door. A mention in the check in would help.

Disappointing Accomodations .. Paying for View

Walking into this home, the first thing you see is the view -- it's breathtaking! But there's not a whole lot else about this place that has the same effect. Furniture is all pretty old and run down with cheap blankets draped over the couches (couches aren't what are pictured on this listing). The beds are very stiff and also feel cheap. The woodworking around the house is unfinished giving it a feel that maybe they're in-between repairs or modernizing. Towels, sheets, TP, paper towels, etc. are all the cheapest quality - we went into town and purchased some of our own TP to use during our stay. Shower is EXTREMELY small, so if you are a larger body person, be prepared to shimmy yourself in circles while cleaning off. Views from the deck and windows are beyond words -- we didn't spend much time at the rental, and what time we did spend was mostly on the deck or staring out the living room window. Email instructions were thorough. However, we were directed to the wrong house w a nearly identical address. Perhaps the rental could benefit from some kind of landmark on the deck you can see from the road below and include that in the check-in information. Overall, for the cost of this rental, we had much higher expectations. Everything feels outdated and very cheap. We were mostly out and about town for a special occasion, but I would've been really upset if my plan was to spend a cozy getaway hanging around this rental with the accomodations that are provided.

Loved the blue door!

Just a prefect spot. The pictures don’t do justice to the view which was amazing. The house has all the amenities we needed and we loved the sound of the ocean as we were falling a sleep.

Great View of the Pacific

The unit was terrific! Watching people on the beach below from the picture windows, and from the sunny deck. WOW. Only negative was NO Cell Phone Service. Guess we could consider it a way to avoid SPAM Calls...

Such a Cool Place!

We enjoyed our stay at The Blue Door. It has a beautiful view of the shore and many amenities within. It's a great location. As others have mentioned the beds aren't that comfortable, could have used Kleenex, no tv (which I was ok with, but hubby would have preferred to have). It has a very small shower but great water pressure. There is a noticeable musty smell within and an area of the kitchen near the fridge smelled like dog urine although pets are not allowed. The dryer lint filter came loose while running a load and clanked around inside the machine with the clothes. Overall, we liked the place.

Beach house bliss

Great drive in parking for one car or large van. Huge window views and we saw whales spouting! Easy and quick drive down to Roseanns for dinner and Blue Agate for breakfast. Pleanty of parking to beach cove access to. Take a chair or get there before the tide to enjoy The Tunnel!

Amazing views

This is a great vacation cottage with amazing views. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is plenty of room. The furniture could use an update, and the beds definately need to be replaced, very uncomfortable.

Incredible view!

My husband and I enjoyed 3 beautiful sunny days with The Blue Door as our home base. Great location for exploring the coast to the North and South. The view was the best feature of the house, with new picture windows in the living area. You can see one of the three arch rocks from the living room and balcony. Head south to the edge of town for sunset views with all three arches. Current cafe was the only restaurant in Oceanside open the whole time we were there (off season), so we ate in 2 of 3 nights. There’s no path down to the ocean from the house, which was about 4 rows up the hillside, but public parking in town worked fine. The house was the perfect size for a couple or couple with two children. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed for cooking meals in. Couches and queen bed were comfortable. Downsides: only 1 very tight parking spot (but still one of the biggest/best on the street), very small shower (smaller than the one in our travel trailer back home!), no mirror over the sink made it hard for my husband to shave, and advertised as 6 capacity but can’t imagine 6 adults being comfortable.

It was unfortunate that the dryer was out of order. I would have packed more clothes if I had have known. Also it took 4 days for someone to respond to my email about needing extra towels. Overall good and a great view.

Great Location, under played !

Amazing location, I think the listings dont do it justice. Everything was great about it, management provided everything you could ask for. The Oxi Clean stain remover saved my gf’s new puffer so that little touch was great 👍🏽. The view was great, beds we’re comfortable, amenities were great, location was great, sherbet in freezer was nice & the bathrooms smelled like bleach which is always good. Thank you for the amazing stay !

DO NOT Book this property

The VACASA company manages this property for the owner, I will NEVER book a property managed by VACASA ever again. Days before check in a massive fall storm was forecast which required us to try and rebook. Did not request a refund, we merely wanted to move reservation to 2 weeks in the future, the future dates were confirmed as available but VACASA said NO. Unfortunately the property owner seemed very nice and sympathized with our situation but was unable to help. We lost 100% of Our rental including cleaning fees for a property that did not require cleaning, what a complete rip off. My companies frequent many short term rentals throughout the west, to lodge out people for projects out of town. Hopefully this experience helps the felllow traveler make the best decisions for their vacations, just think twice about any VACASA managed property. Over and out!

Great Place

The property is an excellent choice for relaxing and hanging out with someone special. It was clean, had a very functional kitchen with lots of dishes, and incredibly large picture window for great ocean viewing and was close to the beach and the two or theee restaurants in Oceanside. Things you should know; there is no TV. ( That was not a problem for us. ). The beds are not particularly comfortable and I was very surprised by that.
