Home away.

Nice neighborhood. Friendly neighbors. Easy access to stores and highways. Golf cart access was great to everywhere we wanted to go.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was clean and comfortable. It came with a golf cart which we enjoyed using. The property was in a good location. There was a big tree in the front yard that constantly shed it's leaves. The driveway and sidewalk was always had leaves and debris. It required some maintenance.

Reviewer Comments: We found that the kitchen floor had not been swept or cleaned under the table/chairs. We had trouble with the lamps and asked for someone to come by and check them, but no one did. We would have appreciated a "cue" card as to how to first use the TV, we don't have direct TV and had a time figuring out the proper way to turn it on. All in all it was a very pleasant stay. Thank you!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location was good for access to grocery shopping at Publix. The neighborhood was very nice and quiet and the use of the golf cart was very good to get around. The management staff was very polite, courteous and responsive and always answered the phone. The carpets in the home were very dirty with either cat or dog urine and poop stains in the master bedroom. I was told the owners were going to replace them, too bad it wasn't before we arrived. The kitchen was well equipped with utensils, pots and pans and appliances worked well.

Not the best rental we've had

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The owner of the property needs to pay more attention to it. The golf cart did not work for the first couple of days until the batteries were replaced. We encountered a problem with ants inside the home which we lived with for over half our stay. The property management people were very helpful and did everything they could to rectify the problem.

The Villages "Villa" rental.

I was told this Villa had everything I would need during my two month stay in The Villages -- just bring my clothes and go get some groceries! The kitchen was so pitifully furnished as to be a joke. Old, worn out skillets, pots, missing blender top, lack of microwaveable cookware, cheapest coffee pot in the world, etc, etc. The ironing board was broken and I had to call for a new one. Two of the kitchen chairs had severely damaged legs unbeknownst to me and my friend sat in one only to have the leg of the chair come out from under her. A second chair was as bad. Called management and they took away the chairs and never came back with anything to replace them. !! I never got a call from the management company as to any problems. The carpeting in the living room is filthy from being so near both the kitchen and the garage entrance. This should be replaced with anything but carpeting ! Of one positive note, I asked that the golf cart be moved so that I could put my car into the garage. They had someone out immediately and disassembled the rear golf bag attachment so it would fit in the garage and allow space for my car. The living room sofas were so old and out of shape as to shameful! I also later found out from my neighbor that this had been the complaints from prior tenants of this particular Villa. What a scam ! As a retired real estate broker and property manager, I would never keep a unit like this to rent if the owners were refusing to repair and fix up the place to meet the description on their ads. Or, is this complacency on the part of the management team? Doesn't matter, it was no where up to par..

Electric golf cart failed on day 7 leaving us stranded at a major intersection during a rain shower. Down Home management had the nerve to tell me that such carts were not to be driven in the rain! I had to rent my own gas cart!!

A Home Away From Home

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was the sixth time we have rented a home in the Villages and the fourth time using Down Home Properties. We were VERY DISAPPOINTED with this rental. It was NOT clean when we arrived on April 1,2019. The carpets were dirty and stained, the sinks were dirty, the doors and door knobs in the kitchen were sticky, and well as the front of the microwave and refrigerator door. The glasses were so covered with calcium spots that would not wash off that we had to buy new glasses! Also, the silverware was in the same condition. Living room couches were in terrible shape...we would sink down low since there was no longer any foam in the cushions! The sheets and towels were old and scratchy. The worse thing was the golf cart...the directional signal handle was duct taped!!! Plus the tail light was broken. The one time we used the golf cart, the batteries were so corroded it DIED on us and had to be TOWED back to our property. We had to pay $75, but were reimbursed by Down Home Properties.We have no issues with Down Home. They always addressed our concerns. They sent a rep over to check out everything and agreed with us. They also gave us a complimentary cleaning. The cleaning staff did a great job and we were satisfied. The owner needs to be made aware of all these problems and update this home!!

Reviewer Comments: When rented property, told Down Home that the only requirement was that I had to have wifi. Wifi would not connect when arrived on Saturday evening. Called office and no answer. Called on Monday morning. Some one came by and looked and promised a call back. Received no call. Called again Tuesday morning and was told would check on and call me back. When we left the following Saturday had never received a call. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay, but will only return if we can rent through another company.
