  • The Rio Grande River winds 12 miles down Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park, Texas. When the water is high you can come down the 1,500 foot walled canyon. With less water flowing, guides take you 3 to 4 miles up the canyon with some spots having to portage. But take it all in stride because the views are breathtaking. I recommend Big Bend River Tours. You might get lucky and have the guides that take you a half mile up a side canyon. An excellent day excursion in the out of the way national park.

The room was so comfortable and we had everything we needed. The views were so amazing that it was just an incredible experience I won’t forget. We made a fire and had the best night sky experience ever. A night lit of stars was the best way to end an amazing day. We would definitely return to experience it all again :)

It was my first time in Big Bend. The Jail room was really nice and clean. Cantina was great and had everything needed to prepare a meal. The scenery was stunning. The little village was really cute. No problems getting there. Great directions.Thank you, Sis! We enjoyed our stay!

Die Übernachtungen hier sind ein unvergessliches Erlebnis! Ten Bits Ranch bietet ein außergewöhnliches Unterkunftserlebnis für Individualreisende, die den authentischen Charakter des Big Bend Nationalparks und Terlingua hautnah erleben möchten. Die Ranch überzeugt mit ihrem rundum stimmigen Wild-West-Konzept (wir hatten das Jail). Besonders beeindruckend sind die spektakulären Aussichten – Sonnenauf- und -untergänge sowie der dunkle Sternenhimmel sind direkt von der eigenen Veranda aus erlebbar. Es gibt sogar einen kurzen eigenen Trail. Einfach nur traumhaft.

Room was clean and comfortable. Great place to stay for west entrance to BBNP. The cantina was well stocked with water, coffee, and breakfast options. Host responds quickly. Terlingua is a very small town, with only a few shopping/dining options. The Ghost Town is really interesting. The Ten Bits Ranch is truly a unique Bed & Breakfast. I would stay here again if I returned to the area.

We loved our stay at the Jail on Ten Bits Ranch. This little "town" setting gives you the true feeling of the old west in the Big Bend area of Texas. I even made the trek to the old Apache Cave on the Ranch. We would definitely recommend staying here and will stay here again if the opportunity presents itself. Thanks Cowboy and Sis!

We absolutely loved this place! I wish our stay had been longer. It appears to be completely off grid which I applaud their ability to give me all the comfort of staying in a hotel. The rooms are cute and I love how individual each one is. The surrounding beauty of the desert mountains is spectacular. The road in was a little rough but we have 4 wheel drive but didn't need it to get in but it was nice to have.

This was such a a fun place to stay! It was clean and comfortable, and had so much character. Our check-in information, as well as lots of other useful information, was provided well in advance, which made everything smooth and easy. We didn't use the kitchen much, but when we did, we found it to be clean, well-equipped and stocked. The road in is a bit rough (a 4WD vehicle would have made it less so), but worth the drive to this beautiful property!

Der beste Ort zum Übernachten in der Wüste

Ich habe 5 Nächte in der Ten Bits Ranch im Old Jailhouse Zimmer verbracht. Rundum ein wunderbarer Ort, mitten in der Wüste, gut erreichbar über eine Gravelroad. Der Check in war mit Pin Code ganz einfach. Ein wunderbares Zimmer, alles liebevoll vorbereitet, alles was man braucht, ein bequemes Bett, ein tolles Bad, Kaffeemaschine, Kühlschrank, Mikrowelle. Vor dem Zimmer sitzen und den Sonnenuntergang sehen, war soooo schön. In der Cantina gibt es für alle zur Selbstbedienung Wasser, Kaffee, Säfte, Brot, Waffeln und vieles mehr. Eine komplette Küche, wenn man kochen möchte. Wer Ruhe und Ursprünglichkeit sucht, ist hier richtig. Nach Teralingua bracht man ca. 30 Minuten, etwas länger in den Big Bend NP. Eine grandiose Umgebung. Ich hätte noch länger bleiben können und komme gerne wieder.

Breathtaking

We loved that it was off the grind and only about a 30 minute drive to the entrance of Big Bend National Park. The property felt like you were in a small town community away from the world. Loved the western rustic feel of the community and room that we stayed in. We will be back again for sure. But this time with our adult children for a family adventure. Book it now!

Overall, we had a really nice stay! The room was big. The bed was comfortable. The general grounds were really neat. We enjoyed walking around and looking at the other rooms. There were some rather loud guests hanging out on their porch many rooms away which was a little annoying but the rooms itself were pretty soundproof/quiet. You couldn’t really hear noise from other rooms/outside when you were in your room. We had two small issues. One, the towels were wet when we checked in and had hairs on them so I’m not sure if they just didn’t fully dry or if we were given dirty towels. We also had an issue with a scorpion in the room. I know it’s Texas and scorpions are native to the area but if you’re ready this, just come prepared! Luckily we had hairspray to kill it as it was in the corner of the mirror and couldn’t step on it. We were wishing we had brought lavender or something! Overall, we would stay here again.
