I’m completely baffled by the good reviews. We opened the door, stayed long enough to book somewhere else, and left asap. We knew we were in trouble when to get to the property you have to drive through a lane of overgrown poorly maintained homes, all of which are visible from this place. This place is located in the side yard of another home - it is not remote or private at all. When I opened the door, I felt like I was entering the fruit cellar in my grandmother’s basement-the walls were weeping (wet) and the stench of mothballs was overpowering. The furniture is beat up & splattered with paint, and some of the windows have duct tape on them. When I contacted the owner to let her know we wouldn’t be staying there, she only said we must not be accustomed to “roughing it.” I assure you that isn’t the case as we own property at the mouth of the Pecos along the border in the desert. We have no running water or electricity & are very accustomed to a bucket toilet. I would pay to not stay here, which is basically what happened because we immediately left. I have stayed in vacation rentals for almost 20 years & have never ever once left a place and not stayed. I guess there’s a first time for everything… Save your money, bring a tent & a bucket, and camp up in the National Forest.
