Needs deep cleaning
It would appear to be a fairly poor town. The place was quiet, but it smelled of urine. It just needs a deep, deep cleaning and repainting to begin with. Lodging is limited in this area, but this was pretty bad. Not up to VRBO standards that we are used to.

Us fairly poor folk are fine and can manage off the land and resources we have. A community of less than 200 people it would be quiet but we come together when needed. We have free range cattle, pigs and horses that are allowed to walk the area. Maybe stick to the city where everything is accessible before driving the last 100km of the far north and only seeing farm land the entire way expecting a 5 star resort

Hunting /fishing weekend
6 of us went for a long weekend Hunting and Fishing. Great location, isolated which was perfect. We had a great relaxing weekend, the house was exactly as advertised, very neat and tidy. Great hosts - we would recommend and will definitely stay again. Thanks Moi and Nutana.

4 Night Stay
Perfect location for all the activities we wanted to do in the Far North. Boat ramp across the road, wharf just down the road. Great for fishing. The hosts were lovely, welcoming people. Thank you Moe and Nutana. The house was basic but had everything we needed. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back to the Far North.

Good Location for Fishing
Generally speaking, this bach house is ideal for fishing. However, we had a bad experience arguing with a couple of Maori guys living in that area. At the Te Hapua jetty, they told us the jetty is a private one , not public, so do not fish here. Go away right now. I think this is truly ridiculous.

Relaxing
Very nice area, easy and straightforward house and setup. We had a relaxed time. Everything we needed except we couldnt find where the chopping board was hiding! Highly reccommended.

Most beautiful setting Right at the beach Free horses and cattle everywhere. Location is amazing. Cleanliness disappointing, Mattress super soft, no screens on the windows, mosquitoes ate us alive, water pressure in shower unbelievable strong! Kitchen was well stocked. Huge stove and oven, big fridge and freezer

Such a remote part of NZ. Great community. Hosts were superfriendly - went above and beyond, loaning us some sunburn lotion and brought us fresh pipis. Great space for children

Secluded quiet beach house
A lovely house overlooking the bay across the road. WiFi is available if you really want to connect with the world but it's peaceful just to kick back and relax. Bring supplies as it's a bit of a hike to get anything which in a way adds to the charm

A very unique location in a special small community at the end of the world
We had everything we needed with one minor exception (a coffee press). The house was comfortable for our family trip with three generations adventuring together. Both young and old enjoyed our stay. The harbor across the quiet street (we only really had to watch out for the free ranging horses and kiddos in a quad bike) was wonderful for building sand castles with our 2.5yo! It was great having our hosts next door. They were very welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we had a good stay.

Super nice people to stay with. The house is awesome.... We are terrible fishermen at the best of times, but we still managed to catch some really nice ones. This is a place that we would love to come back to and explore even more. Thanks for the crayfish!

Quiet getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It's the northernmost town in NZ and is so relaxing - a million miles from the busyness of Auckland. Just what we needed. It's a taste of NZ as it used to be - but with fast wifi. The house was great: very comfortable, well-maintained, and tidy. The six of us slept well. There are no shops, so stock up at Te Kao Local Store 35kms before you get here. This is the perfect base for visiting Cape Reinga - which we did. We would definitely stay here again.
