Great stay in Sicily

8 friends had an amazing stay at Villa Calipso. The house was amazing and in a great lication. The highlight was getting to watch Mt Etna erupt from our patio. It was a once in a lifetime experience. We had a great meal made at the house and supervised by Roberto.

Our trip to Sicily, 2025

We truly had a wonderful time at this villa and everything that it claimed was pretty much what we got. It's difficult when you're traveling as far as we did from New York to trust the reliability of a description on a computer for a house so far away, but truly, we were not disappointed in any way. This home was comfortable, large and relaxing. The little town of Trapatello was charming; at first, we didn't think we would even go there, but we found ourselves taking day trips for gelato and coffee, and to go to the supermarket, which is a short drive away. Roberto was an amiable manager who took care of whatever needed to be done. We had traveled to celebrate my wife's birthday, and she had a great time as did the rest of the family. Thank you, Sergio.

Quiet but close to all the action

This property was wonderful for our family with two young children. It was very clean and well equipped. We felt like we were home. The pool and garden was our favorite place and we spent most of our time outside. It was also nice and quiet, while being a short drive to everything we wanted to see and do, including Giardini Naxos Beach, Etna volcano (beautiful view from the home), Taormina, Castelmola, and the supermarket is just around the corner. The house manager Roberto was excellent. He and Maria catered a meal for our family and it was delicious. I would highly recommend this home for anyone who is considering staying in the Taormina area.

Lovely home with a great view of Mt. Etna

The property was lovely. Very well landscaped with lots of different outdoor seating and dining options. Great view of Mt. Etna. A nice quiet neighborhood. Air conditioning in every bedroom. Nicely updated/renovated bathrooms. The property manager was very responsive to our needs. The pool was large and very clean. We loved our stay here.

Great stay, beautiful house, nice location. The two kitchens worked out perfectly. Roberto provided for every need. Would recommend downloading WhatsApp to ensure quicker communication once at the house. Will happily go back!

Perfect Villa in Trappiletto

Villa Calipso was even more spectacular than shown in the photos. The building, the gardens and the pool were enjoyed by all in our group. Roberto,our host, was thoughtful and available, if needed. The location is perfect. Taromina is a short drive away and getting to Mt. Etna, Siracusa or Milazzo was no problem. Very highly recommended by all in our group.

Beautiful Villa!

We enjoyed our stay at Sergio’s villa. Pictures did not do it justice… even more gorgeous in person. Clean and spacious with amazing views! Roberto was wonderful responding to any of our questions and the dinner prepared by his mother was our favorite meal of the week in the area. It was extremely hot during our week there and the air conditioning was great.

Amazing villa central to everything

This house is gorgeous, with a great view of Mt. Etna. It's very central and close to many other towns nearby, including Taormina, which is very very beautiful. The owner and his team were super helpful, they even paired us with a nanny for our 1 year old. I would come back for sure!

Amazing Villa Calipso

We - 5 adults and 3 children - stayed at Villa Calipso in October 2019 and all found the villa amazing. The house itself is charming and authetic and the garden is absolutely wonderful with a lot of nice spots from where you can enjoy an amazing view of Etna. We also enjoyed an absolutely fantastic local dinner made by Robertos mother served at the house terrasse. Moreover, the location of the villa is a perfect starting point for exploring Sicily. We would defintely like to come back!

Spectacular views in a fantastic Villa

This is the most spectacular property I have ever stayed at ! And I stay at quite a few. It has that old world charm and It is even more beautiful than The VRBO pictures. There are so many charming comfortable places to relax . The windows and wrought iron are beautiful. Kitchen is nicely equipped . Roberto was fantastic setting us up and attending to anything we needed immediately all through the week. I am recommending Villa Calypso to friends and family. Bravo Villa Calypso

Amazing property

I stayed here with my kids (10 and 13) and in-laws for a week in May. The property is absolutely amazing - even better than the photos make it look! There are so many different places to sit and have a drink/eat a meal, in the sun or shade, by the pool, on the terrace, all with fantastic views of Etna and the beautiful surrounding countryside. You are not overlooked anywhere on the property, so it feels very private. And the house itself is stunning, with high ceilings in the living area and a really well equipped kitchen. Even the showers were good - something you can’t always say about holiday lets! It’s also easy to get to by car from Catania airport, and well situated to get to Taormina and other places of interest. Overall would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful Property and great location

This home was absolutely beautiful. The pool was perfect, easy for the kids to get in and out. The house was very clean and the garden/patio flows really well. We went to various places around Sicily so the location was perfect for that. The butcher at the end of their street and the fruit trucks had amazing food and there is a grocer close by when they are closed. We were given lots of tips by Roberto which was nice.

Lovely villa - shame about the weather!

Villa Calipso is a beautiful well-appointed villa with excellent facilities inside and lovely gardens with pool. Unfortunately the weather was unusually poor for some of the week we were there so we didn't get to use the pool much but mornings were sunny and breakfast on the patio with superb views of Etna was very special! If we had one suggestion, it would be that a folder of information, which we have had when we have rented in other parts of the world, might be helpful. The sort of thing that contains information about the villa and its workings, local shops and restaurant suggestions, even possible trips or visits?

Magnificent & Beautiful but in need of some TLC!

Just one look at the images of Villa Calypso and you begin to imagine what a wonderful holiday opportunity awaits you at this truly spectacular villa set off of the Main Street of Trappitello. It’s promise is hidden behind an innocuous black metal gated fence beyond which lies a treasure trove of traditional and rural Italian design. Once through the gates drive leads down to a wider path opening up to a sweeping terracotta stairway to the huge pool (16m long) and sunbathing area furnished with large sun umbrellas and comfortable loungers. The interior is equally stunning if somewhat dated, furnished with Italianate rococo pieces heavy on the eye but fascinating to look at. With two terraces one for dining and one for lounging both overlooking Mount Etna you may feel as if you have found paradise. The bedrooms are far more modest two of which have air-con and comfortable double beds. As for the bathrooms, they are perfectly adequate for a weeks stay. The living rooms are comfortable if a little overused with the sofas showing distinct signs of wear. The kitchen has everything and more that you would expect to find in a lived in family home and that is obviously what this is, a wonderful family home that has character in abundance. However all of the compliments cannot make up for the fact that the entire property is seriously showing its age and the fact that it was last refurbished 20 years ago with everything now in need of some serious TLC. But that said a stay here can prove quite magical beyond imagination. Stephania and Roberto were always on hand to resolve and minor issues that cropped up but if there was one point in particular that disappointed it was that pool and surrounding patio area was only cleaned once during our 7 day stay.

A beautiful villa and garden

We had a great holiday at Villa Calipso - five adults and a baby. There was plenty of room for all of us and it was lovely having so many quiet places in the garden to sit and enjoy the wonderful and ever changing views of Mount Etna. Roberto and Stefania were always very helpful and had lots of ideas about local places to visit. We really loved our Sicilian meal cooked for us by Roberto's delightful mother - the food was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed our visits to Taormina and Syracuse and two of our party had great fun going to the top of Etna. Many thanks to Sergio and everyone for a very pleasant and comfortable stay.

We loved the property and the location!

The house and gardens are totally lovely. The house is well equipped for cooking-in and conveniently located for touring around Taormina and Mount Etna. The view of the latter is spectacular. Working with property manager Roberto was pleasant and informational. We would have loved to have more time there.
