Review #9334587 “Nice townhome, but be prepared for extra fees!”
The home itself it nice enough and pretty well kept for being a rental.
Thats where the good portion ends. This particular unit is facing a 7 year old dilapidated building, in fact the pictures of the outside of the unit shown on this listing are NOT the unit you will be staying at. The interior pics are correct though. If you click on the map, then choose satellite view, you can see the building thats an eyesore.
The gentleman who met us to give us access, was 40 mins late for our meeting time, and he gave us a personal family reason/excuse for being late, but the woman I spoke to on the phone claimed he was "with another guest" when I called to inquire why he was late. He absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke which took all evening to dissipate out of the unit.
You have to pay a substantial cleaning fee in CASH right then, but only to find out when you check out YOU are responsible for everything you would think the cleaning person was getting paid to do.
You have to remove all trash.
You have to do all the dishes.
You have to wash the sheets.
If you use the comforters, you have to pay an extra fee.
So you pay a large fee for them to let you in, and then put fresh towels and make the beds for the next guest.
This is on top of the fact, YOU have to pay for any electric you use....seriously. My bill was not huge, but it the principal, and that they hide this info in the fine print.
The resort itself is OK...but be prepared for rules, many of them. I was lucky to find a new dock thats just been built in the mangroves a few hundred feet from our unit. After I had driven around and saw no fishing signs everywhere. I rented fishing poles and bought bait from the marina and was enjoying sitting on the dock of the bay waiting for a bite when the security guard came and ran me off, telling me, "I know there is no sign, but there is no fishing here". He demanded I leave right that minute, and when I asked why the dock was built, he said "I really don't know, I realize it looks like a fishing dock, but in the month since I have been working here, there is no fishing". Clearly they don't want people on vacation here. As it turns out, the area he took me to that was designated for fishing, I was later told by the marina was ALSO a NO FISHING area.
