Great family retreat

Wonderful outside living. Huge patio area by the pool. Ocean view is amazing. It truly is a luxury villa!

Amazing Location

We loved our stay at the Five Star Tamarindo. The views were spectacular and the property was very spacious and provided our group of 9 lots of room to roam. We were very comfortable and preferred spending our time at the house. I would return to this property in a heart beat!

The only thing is that this villa need a little of love, there is little détails like the sink in the room, the sliding doors and others that will need to be repaired or replaced. Other than that we enjoyed our stay with all the family and will not hesitate a second to return.

We miss the stunning views already!

My family and I have thoroughly enjoyed our 11 now night stay in Tamarindo a destination that has far exceeded our expectations. Casa Leo Loco is a luxurious property that somehow manages to feel more like a home than a vacation rental. The view from the house is truly spectacular and offers picture postcard perfect sunsets. All of the rooms are very attractive and comfortable each has unique characteristics, something to suit everyone. We highly recommend this property and will tell all of our friends about this amazing place and we are currently planning our own return trip to this fabulous place. It was so perfect and better than I could have ever imagined! The staff and rental company are lovely and very easy to work with. They made all my special accommodations happen and I felt pricing was very fair. The breakfast cooked for us each morning was delicious. These homes are perfect for groups and having fun!

First was the beds and pillows were very uncomfortable and no one in our group slept very well. Second was the hot tub not working and being cold was kind of a bummer as at night the pool water was too cold to use. Outside of that the place is remarkable, the service was excellent, and we would definitely go back.

Very cool house with a cool layout!!!

Great home for a group of adults or a few families. The layout is awesome and the vibe of the home is great. The only complaint i would have is 3 of the bedrooms are in a building separate from the house. There is only one bathroom for these three bedrooms. Whoever is staying in the top floor bedroom has to walk outside and go downstairs to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Not ideal for older people. The room has great views but the bathroom situation might be something to consider depending on your group. Worked out fine for us and we loved everything about the house!

We rented 2 houses (Compass House and Casa Leo Loco) part of my wedding party stayed here and they truly enjoyed the house. They particularly loved jumping into the pool from the top balcony! The rooms were spacious and bedding was comfortable. The kitchen was equiped with everything we needed. If we wanted to request breakfast or even hiring a personal chef the amazing Five Star Tamarindo host (Natalia) made it happen...all we had to do was ask! Also.. the views from this house were amazing and we will never forget the sunsets here! Thank you again for everything and we hope to return soon.

STUNNING PROPERTY! A truly unique and fun property!

This property left myself and my friends speechless! Before we even stepped foot on the property the communication with Five Star rentals was fantastic. They helped communicate for golf rentals, an adventure tour, and provided recommendations. The check in process was seamless and they even helped bring some friends that arrived early a ride up the hill. Ana is amazing and really helped make our stay five stars! The AC was fantastic in each room and the open-air concept on the main level was great for immersing into the nature around you. The real star of the show was the pool with that view!!!! The pictures do not do it justice. The hill is the only downfall of the property, but when you see the view at the top it is all worth it! I would definitely recommend golf cart rentals for this property which helped with getting up and down the hill. Our group of 9 loved this property and have been recommending it to all our friends. This is truly a unique luxury rental!

Unprecedented views

We enjoyed the outdoor space in this house. The views were gorgeous. Other than sleeping in your bedroom, you do not use the inside space. Everything is dated and needs to be freshened up. Although the house was clean, it seemed dirty because it was dated- especially the kitchen. The bedrooms were fine to sleep in and had A/C. The rest of the house did not and was hot. The housekeeper was 10/10. Did our laundry without asking and cooked us breakfast if we wanted. The maintenance guys were also helpful. We had a chef that came in every night to cook and we loved that. His name was Luis Dinarte, with Guanacaste Food Experience and I’d highly recommend him. Although you could walk into town, it is a trek and the road is horrible. We had a car, which was expensive but I do not think you have a choice if you stay at this property.

Casa Leo Loco was just as wonderful with its Costa Rican style. It also had spectacular views.The Five Star team went above and beyond to make sure we had a great vacation. There were 24 of us so there were many logistics to plan and Five Star was on top of everything from arranging transportation, making dinner reservations, arranging excursions and surfing lessons.. They were very easy to work with and extremely helpful . We loved the Sunset Catamarantrip and the ATV/Ziplining. We especially enjoyed dining at Pangas on Christmas Eve. I would highly recommend Five Star Management.The houses are very conveniently located - close to the beach and town. We used golf carts to get around which added to the fun. Both houses were amazing. We particularly enjoyed the out door space at both house with their beautiful pools and views.

Casa Leo Loco is wonderful place to spend time with the family

We spent countless hours lounging by the pool, eating at the larger table outside, or sitting on the patio as a family. The three main bedrooms and bathrooms were very nice. All in all we had a fantastic time. Here are some of our biggest complaints: 1) Dirt road leading up to the villa is very challenging and provided to be much for some of our family members with bad backs 2) lack of trash cans in the bedrooms 3) The 2 extra bedrooms by the pool had an unusual amount of bugs. Especially the upstairs bedroom. We would come back to the room to find dead insects on our bed sheets.Bathroom shower didn't have hot water. 4) BBQ Grill was terrible. Heat was poorly distributed on the grill. Knob for 2nd burner was missing. 5) Bushes at end of infinity pool need to be trimmed to give the infinity look 6) Gate should be automatic. we did not feel safe because of the gate.

Photos don't do it justice

Great property for a group of friends or large family. The photos really don't do it justice - the yard was an absolute paradise! We had 4 couples and a single friend all in 30s-40s stay and each had our own separate space. We loved the openness of the common areas and views were spectacular. We felt incredibly safe throughout our stay with the gated entry and security guards. The housekeeper was amazing and she also made us coffee and breakfast, what a treat! Communication with the property managers was super easy and they will arrange activities, transportation or a private chef for you. The only things I wanted to share that will be helpful to others is that the 3 guestrooms in the tower share one bathroom and two outdoor showers. the heat also rises, so the upper bedroom got warm at night. However, for kids or laidback friends, it won't be too big an issue! There is no AC in the main communal area, however we didn't feel a need for it during our stay. The AC in the main bedrooms all worked amazing. As many note, there is a huge long hill to climb if you want to walk home from town, but it didn't bother us too much. It's a nice way to get exercise and if you're not up for walking, ubers are $5 to/from town - super easy and accessible location to downtown Tamarindo and some amazing shops, bars, and beach!

Great Stay at Casa Leo Loco!

Had an amazing time at Casa Leo Loco through Stay in Tamarindo! The house (Casa Leo Loco) was awesome! Very unique and excellent for a family like ours. My mom (80), wife, three daughters (15, 18 and 21) rounded out with daughters 21 year boyfriend. From the moment of booking, I worked with Cris G, our concierge from Stay in Tamarindo and she was literally, 'THE BEST'! She made the trip by helping me schedule a bunch of activities. We decided for this trip to do more water activities, than hiking or jungle/rainforest activities. Just our preference. Therefore, she coordinated rides to and from the airport, rental vehicle (Toyota Rush 7 seat SUV) for trips around with the entire family, and a 6 seat Polaris side by side (highly recommended) for the kids to drive all around town, beaches, off road, etc... Cris, also handled scheduling a private Catamaran tour, a two hour jet ski tour in the ocean, as well as Surf lessons. The final was the house comes with a boat rental for four hours. We elected to deep sea fish and caught Tuna and a huge 120 pound SailFish! Cris helped us with three private dinners which were definitely amazing! As for the house, it is located up the hill about 5 minutes from downtown/beach and the view from the backyard of the sunsets over the ocean was amazing! We had this view every night! The pool is unbelievable... I would highly recommend this house for families and couples. Not young children due to pool. Cris G and the team were excellent!

Fantastic Place to Rent in Tamarindo

Wow! If you're looking to visit Tamarindo, definitely do go! The sunset every night took our breath away. People are friendly, the shopping was fun, food was great and the beach is so nice. The house- Pro's (there were way more pro's than con's): -The house was private! We couldn't hear any of our neighbors. -We couldn't have asked for a better view of downtown Tamarindo from our house. And it was so close to stores, restaurants and the beach. -The house-keep/property management was great. Anything we needed (wifi, pool issues, silly questions, etc) was mostly addressed within a short period of time. -The house was great. The fact that there were three separate places for us & our guests to stay in was great for our respective sanity. -We had iguanas regularly visit us and our pool! -The space inside and out was big enough that everyone felt at ease. The Con's (of the area, not the house): -We tend to forget that many Tamarindo houses run on well water, so flushing toilet paper was a no-no, though not the homeowner's fault. -Beware of the scorpions. We found one on our very first day. Don't leave your luggage open during your stay, or they will find a way in. -That hill! Although we loved our rental home, we did not love the steep climb to get to it. We ended up renting golf carts. Overall, everyone was very satisfied with our stay and would definitely rent this house again if we're in the Tamarindo area.

Close enough to feel like you are part of the town, but far enough up the hillside to have privacy among your group. The property itself is a sprawling villa, different wings of the house offer spectacular views from different angles. The master bedroom suite is huge, the other bedrooms are private and unique. Pool area with bbq set up and courtyard can't be better. We went down with a group of 10, everyone there thanked me for choosing such an awesome place. The only improvement would be a to have a an actual oven in the kitchen and a bathroom on the ground level in the main house. Overall minor set back for such an awesome place. The house is beyond secure, so no worries about safety or belongings. We loved the villa and are planning to do a reunion trip in the next year or two. The management co was super helpful, pool service daily, and cleaning crew every couple days. We locked ourselves out once on accident but we were able to get a new set of keys within minutes.... Truly a well oiled machine in function. Casa Leo loco was great, the wildlife is prevalent and appreciated, the decor was clean and comfortable. This place, I think is legendary. One of our group members picked up a shuttle from the airport, the shuttle driver knew exactly where the house was and didn't even need directions!! In conclusion, we loved our stay, thank you very much to the staff and everyone else involved with this awesome property. If you are on the fence about choosing this place for your vacation HQ, just do it, you won't be bummed. Casa Leo loco rules!

Amazing property with incredible sunset views!!!

Casa Leo Loco is a total gem of a property. The entire residence is meticulously maintained and very clean. The gardens and landscaping all around the property are so beautiful. The pool... was just WOW and absolutely perfect in temperature, size and views of Tamarindo and the ocean. Our host property managers at Five Star Rentals Tamarindo (Natalia & Ana) were so friendly and helpful. They arranged to have the place ready for us much earlier than our check in time as our arrival from Canada was quite early in the morning. They were kind enough to accommodate an early check in as the property was not booked that day, which allowed us to enjoy the property for the entire day instead of waiting all day for check in. Natalia and Ana were also very helpful in arranging for a chef to cook for us at the house one evening (which I would highly recommend with Catering Costa Events). They also arranged all our adventure tours and transfers to/from the airport. We were two families of four staying at Casa Leo Loco including 4 teenagers. The size of the property and number of bedrooms was perfect for 8 people (any more would probably be a bit crowded, depending on the age of the children). The main floor bedroom located in the tower (which has two single beds) was a bit "too rustic" for any of the teenagers to sleep in so I'd keep that in mind when booking this property as two of the boys ended up sharing a room and bed. The location of the property which sits on a hilltop overlooking the town of Tamarindo is amazing for its 180 degree views of the ocean and incredible sunsets....which were stunning to say the least. It's about a 10-15 minute walk down the hill to get to the main road in town and there are no shops or amenities on the hill. The hill is quite steep so I would highly recommend renting a gas powered golf cart (there are 4 seater or 6 seater options) and make sure to reserve it ahead of your stay especially during busy season. We didn't rent golf carts ahead of time and regretted it as the walk up the steep hill can be daunting in the heat and the path/dirt road up the hill at night is dark and not lit. You can also take a taxi up to the property for about $10 US one way as an option to renting golf carts. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Casa Leo Loco... and Tamarindo. This property, the view, and our friendly hosts will definitely have us coming back again soon!

Family Reunion at Compass House and Casa Leo Loco

Casa Leo Loco was just as wonderful with its Costa Rican style. It also had spectacular views.The Five Star team went above and beyond to make sure we had a great vacation. There were 24 of us so there were many logistics to plan and Five Star was on top of everything from arranging transportation, making dinner reservations, arranging excursions and surfing lessons.. They were very easy to work with and extremely helpful . We loved the Sunset Catamarantrip and the ATV/Ziplining. We especially enjoyed dining at Pangas on Christmas Eve. I would highly recommend Five Star Management.The houses are very conveniently located - close to the beach and town. We used golf carts to get around which added to the fun. Both houses were amazing. We particularly enjoyed the out door space at both house with their beautiful pools and views.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We booked this villa for a week. It was our first visit to Costa Rica. The house and outdoor living space was incredible. We were in that fantastic pool with the ocean view everyday. We loved the outside patio gathering and grilling areas. This house may not be as modern and sleek as other nearby homes, but it exuded a charm and character that we just loved. Other reviews say the hill is a lot but "walkable". It is if you are young, and pretty fit. We are in our mid 60's, and although we are active and fit, it was not do able for us, especially in the heat of the day. We could walk down, but not up. We used Uber a lot, (approximately $4.00 from villa to town), and if you want to rent your own transportation, a GAS powered golf cart or car is needed. Places in town will not rent you an electric cart if they know you are on the hill as it will not make the steep incline. The people at Five Star were very friendly, responsive and easy to work with. The on site staff were equally so. We were afraid the onsite staff would have been intrusive, but they were not. They were very considerate of where we were in the house, and very helpful. The house was very clean and well stocked. We would definitely rent this house again and hope to do so in the very near future.
