We had a great stay! The property was in a really great location with tons of restaurants and amenities just a couple minutes away! Everything was very clean and the perfect size for two of us to spend the weekend! Very happy with everything and the hosts were very responsive!

This place is exactly what it promises to be. It's a nature lover's paradise! The home itself is full of sweet charm. From the inside, it feels like living in a tree house. The OUTSIDE is the place to be, though. It's gorgeously situated. We practically lived between the dock and the porch. The hosts were so thoughtful, also. They left wine and chocolates for our anniversary! We'll definitely stay again if we come through the area. We didn't wanna leave at all!.

In terms of being immersed in nature, this is a great place to stay! The owls were amazing as were the consistent views of shore birds flying up and down the river. The screened in porch was a phenomenal area to spend time when raining, buggy or too hot out. We stayed cool, dry and bug free within it. Floyd's comical information binder was incredibly helpful. The proximity to St. Mark's allowed us tons of biking opportunities. The extras, like toilet paper, shampoo, lotions, etc were generous and appreciated. Despite its small size, the set up in the house we found very functional. One of the couches has sprung a spring so was uncomfortable but there is a second couch. Overall, we would definitely return.

This was our first trip after my brides cancer treatment. We wanted a place that was peaceful and didn't remind us of a doctors office. We honestly didn't want to leave! Paddling with manatees, eagles and swallowtail kites, catching suwannee bass and being serenaded to sleep by barred owls was just exactly what we needed. Such beauty in every direction, We will be back!!!

This is a wonderful rustic cabin nestled in the woods with a dock on the St Marks River. The owner is very pleasant and helpful. We have stayed here at least 3 times and would definitely return. Lots of birds including Barred Owls and Red-shouldered Hawks, Great Egrets and White Ibis. Might even spot manatees or river otters.

I had a wonderful week at this property, despite the weather not cooperating as Florida weather is supposed to. It was serene and relaxing to sit overlooking the river. I enjoyed biking, kayaking, and hiking, all with my German Shepherd. Carolyn was an excellent hostess, very attentive and easy to communicate with. St. Mark's Retreat was just what I was looking for. I definitely plan to return! Thanks, Carolyn!

There are not enough words to describe this perfect little river retreat. Comfortable and gorgeous views all around. This little hidden piece of the river is lovely. A great example of real Florida. Highly recommend!

We loved our stay at the Retreat! We spent Christmas week there and couldn't have been more pleased with the quiet, secluded location and the amenities the cabin offered. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals and because there was a warm spell we were able to enjoy dining on the screened porch while watching the river. Carolyn was very helpful with any questions we had and responded promptly.This area of Florida has so much to offer for the outdoors enthusiast and the Retreat is a short drive away from the amazing St Mark's Wildlife Refuge as well as various other outdoor activities. We've spent the past few holidays in this area and look forward to returning to the Retreat when we can.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It felt like we were hours outside of town, but were only a 30 minute drive from Tallahassee. It is just what we needed. Clean and rural as can be. My favorite thing was fishing and having coffee as the sun rises on the dock over the river with nothing but the occasional sounds of nature to accompany us. The cabin was stocked with everything you need. The host was very friendly and responsive as well. We will be back with a kayak/canoe to enjoy the river even more! Thank you!!

The setting of the cottage on the river is beautiful! We enjoyed sitting on the back porch and fishing from the dock. The cottage was well stocked and very clean. The host was very responsive. We would definitely stay here again.

This place felt like taking a good, long breath after a stressful day. We relaxed the moment we drove down the driveway. It’s a lovely setting and just watching the river roll by was balm for my soul. The accommodations were exactly as described and Floyd and Carolyn were great at communicating. The location boasts a lot of wildlife and a great dock and screened porch to enjoy the river. Bring your food and clothes and you are all set. All the little things were there and we didn’t lack for anything. We’d highly recommend this amazing retreat.

If peace and quiet is your goal, this is the place for you. Due to rain every day of our stay, we weren't able to take advantage of the nearby hiking trails (many of them identified in the cabin's welcome binder). Carolyn is an amazing hostess with great communications and a knack to foresee your needs. We highly recommend this property.

My boyfriend and I came down to escape the big city and have some alone time together. This home was exactly what the doctor ordered. We saw so much wildlife, from manatees and sea otters, to deer and alligators. We just threw our kayak on the river and floated on. All the human neighbors are super friendly also. 10/10 would recommend

Such a great retreat and environment, quiet, clean and unspoiled. We had kayaks delivered to the house and there is a great kayak launch right there on the property. The host again was so responsive and all amenities for comfort and convenience were provided over and above expectations. You will love that porch facing the river!
