House with a view
It was an easy drive in our rental car to Fontane Blanche from Taormina. Enzo was waiting for us and handed over the keys and a fob for the gate at the entrance. He gave us all the instructions we needed for our 11 day stay in March 2024. He made us feel very welcome and supplied a small stock of food, water and a bottle of wine so we didn’t have to find a grocery store until the next day. The view of the sea was superb from the house that had wide windows that opened up completely, it was lovely to eat our breakfast at the table while watching the little fishing boats. We enjoyed lounging in the sun in the little grassy yard. After the sun went down the house got chilly and we needed to use the heater in the main room and the bedroom. Although we could tell that the house had been cleaned prior to our arrival, there were a few things that need to be changed out and updated. There were dirty spots on the curtains and some moldy spots in the bathrooms.
We enjoyed our stay and did several day trips to the nearby towns of Noto, Ragusa, Modica and Marzamemi. It should be noted that this is a beach town and many places were not open in March. I’m sure this would be a very busy spot during the summer months.
