the property itself was attractive, clean and mostly served its purpose for our visit to Sydney.
HOWEVER, check in process leaves room for improvement. The 'keyless entry' worked insofar as we were able to access the card. But once obtained, there is no clear advice about how or where to 'tap' or swipe.
The women on the other end of the phone tried to be polite and helpful, but didn't solve the problem for us. After much discussion, as well as frustration, we discovered the swipe panel ourselves.
Worse was to come: on the information sheet a single line comment was to the effect that if you locked yourselves out, ring the local locksmith. The doors were heavy, wooden and extremely tightly adjusted, and quickly slammed shut us out in a split second, leaving us on the outside with luggage, and card on the inside, comfortably resting in its little electricity activating panel. SO - we rang the locksmith, whose number was conveniently supplied in about three separate places in the vestibule. He answered quickly, informed us that he was 45 mins away, and would charge $165 for his 'service', and $200 if we didn't have cash. We had no choice. My husband, who is 85, then walked off to try and locate an atm. He had no idea where he would find one, and it took more than an hour to find somewhere. It was raining, and he unfortunately tripped up on a gutter and cut his knees quite badly, as well as ruining a perfectly good pair of trousers. I was almost hysterical wth worry when he finally hobbled back with the wretched money for the locksmith......who had arrived promptly and took approx 25 seconds to open the door of our apartment. The whole situation was an absolute disgrace. The dice was loaded against us from the start We were upset, annoyed, and very disappointed.
As well, the website for this apartment was misleading re. stairs, which I try to avoid because of poor knees. Only ONE staircase is mentioned: we discovered that in fact the entrance is accessed by three lots of stairs, two of which were twisty, steep , with no handrails, and slippery. There is also another staircase inside the building, which accesses many of the apartments - ours included.
A poor experience ... the staff members on the other end of the phones for this accommodation tried their best to be helpful, but it was clear that they could do nothing, and did not have access to the property manager.
