Neat little property with good furnishings, especially the soft bed. However, the unit could have been a little cleaner and a bit more private…was not aware that there is an adjoining unit also for rent. Also, this property may not suit all as there are a lot of stairs to climb.

Beautiful Bondi Area

We stayed at this VRBO near Bondi beach for 5 nights coming from an earlier cruise. Michael the owner, was very accommodating as we disembarked fairly early off the cruise ship....and he allowed us to drop off our large heavy luggage before noon, while the place was being cleaned. The VRBO was perfect for just the two of us, we did not rent a car and took Sydney's public transportation (buses, trains and ferries) nearly everywhere we went. Bus 379 into Bondi Junction was just a block away from the place. The queen size bed, linens and pillows were comfortable, and I LOVED how nice the air conditioner worked as well. It cooled the room very quickly--very nice to sleep in a cool room--My only suggestion to this place would be to slightly elevate the bed from the floor a little more..it was very low to the ground. The shower, coffee maker, TV, fridge and other amenities were nice as well. Michael was extremely responsive when we had questions. We were grateful for the large beach towels in the closet that we were able to use on our days to the beach.... we also borrowed the two rain umbrellas to use for shade, as there was little to no shaded areas on the beaches we visited....both Bondi and Manly beach-- Beautiful beaches! My husband I packed in a LOT in 5 days...we did a tour of the Sydney Opera House, scheduled a day trip to the Blue Mountains on a private tour and climbed the Sydney Bridge as well. This VRBO was a great place to stay for the price- Highly recommend!

Extremely friendly host and comfortable unit on the outer edge of North Bondi (20 min to everything)

Michael is a wonderful host who really cares that you are comfortable and settled in the "granny flat" under his house — a very special experience to get to connect with him, unlike some hosts on these short-term rental sites, Michael is a real pleasure to talk to. I feel that this property is great if you are a visitor/tourist in Sydney, and are comfortable with not being in the 'hub' of everything Sydney has to offer, but rather, within walking/travel-able distance to everything you'd want — including Bondi Beach being about 20 minutes (closer to 18 mins) away, and Rose Bay being about a 25 min walk. When it's raining, this can be a bit of a nuisance. As a remote worker who is not a tourist, the location was a bit inconvenient for my needs, but this was a 5-star stay, with a 5-star host, in a 5-star property. Make sure to take full advantage of the bus routes nearby, be prepared for a walk, and take note that this unit is 'behind' the house, meaning you have to walk up quite a lot of stairs to get to your unit — or use the inclinator. One other thing to note is that the door to your room is glass, and there is another unit directly next to yours, with a shared patio outside your room — thus, if you want to ensure your neighbors don't walk outside and see through to your room, you'll need to keep the curtain closed, minimizing the natural light in your room. Something that made me personally feel a bit closed in, but not much that can be done to accommodate this. Overall, this property is special, the host is wonderful, and certainly worth considering as the location for your vacation to Sydney/Bondi!

A very special experience

My husband and I spent a week here in this very special place the first week of February. It was our first visit to Australia. We were greeted the first night by the most welcoming host, even though it was pretty late when we arrived. The room was very clean and cozy. The sheets and towels were of high quality and the bed was very comfy. The air conditioning in the room was fantastic as the weather was quite hot and humid during our stay. We traveled all over Sydney without a car. The bus is just a couple of minutes away and an outstanding restaurant is right next to the bus stop. This was our first experience staying in a suite that was a part of someone's home. The way it is set up with a completely separate entrance, it didn't seem like it was part of a house at all. We felt like we had a lot of privacy and even had a patio to enjoy a morning cup of coffee and listen to the beautiful sounds of the birds. Most importantly, our host, Michael, was amazing. He was very attentive and responsive whenever we needed anything. The night before we left, he helped us figure out how we would get to the airport and said if there was a glitch, he would drive us himself. The morning we left, he even invited us to join him on his deck for coffee and toast prior to our departure. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know this kind and generous man. If you decide to stay at this very special place, you will not regret it. Thank you, Michael, for all you did to make this a very special experience we will never forget. Nancy and Vern

Excellent property, situated in a lovely peaceful residential road,only 20min walk to Bondi Beach.

Just returned to UK from visiting family in Sydney, having spent 2 very enjoyable weeks at Michaels place. It couldn’t have been more perfect for me - since my daughters live in the next street I didn’t actually use the facilities for cooking but everything was there should I have needed to. The bed was comfy, sheets & towels of high quality, great bathroom and shower and excellent WiFi - at one point when the WiFi dropped out Michael was immediately on the case and there were no further problems for the rest of my stay. The place was immaculate on arrival and Michael a great welcoming host. I was staying alone on this visit and I have to say I felt VERY safe staying here on my own - it is situated in a lovely residential street just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Bondi Beach but close enough to all amenities, some lovely restaurants (3mins walk to the fabulous Shuk cafe) bus stops to North Bondi or Bondi Junction and some great coastal walks. The views when you travel on the lift (there are also steps) are breathtaking! I do know the area well as I visit every year, but this is the first time I have stayed here and I can honestly say it is the best place I have stayed in within this area, a real find. I will certainly be back again and have no hesitation in recommending Michaels property to anyone wanting a peaceful retreat within the Bondi Beach area. I cannot fault this property. Thank you Michael!

Great quiet place to stay to feel like a local

The room is clean and you’ll have everything you need. Internet is fast and TV/Netflix is available. The towels are of good quality, and the bathroom is spacious. You will also find beach towels. The kitchenette has everything you need to prepare a breakfast or a simple lunch/dinner. You have access to a smaller patio outside your door, which you share with the guests next door (if there are any). The neighborhood is very quiet (apart from some birds in the early morning, which just adds a charm). Michael and Gill are nice and Michael will respond to your questions very fast, faster than anyone I’ve dealt with through these kind of booking sites. The place is very close to the 379 bus (which will take you to North Bondi (closer to the beach), and Bronte (through Bondi Junction). Ask Michael for the shortcut to the bus, it’s literally a 3 minute walk. Other buses are also nearby. If you have a car it’s easy and free to park on the streets. There is a lift up to your room = you don’t have to carry your luggage up lots of stairs :) If you have a bad knee like my mom had during our stay we were allowed to use the lift at all times. The views are spectacular, but note that you will not see the view from your room, which we didn’t expect to, but good to note for you to set your expectations right. I experienced the walk to Bondi Beach as 18-23 minutes (depending on route), Google says 20 though. If you have a bad knee like my mom had it took around 30. I personally appreciated the walk since I love to check out neighborhoods and houses - and the route through Military rd will bring you great views. Oh, and please go for a walk towards Dover heights along the ocean - it’s absolutely beautiful, and on the opposite side you will have great views of the city!

Beautiful quiet location close to Bondi beach

Beautiful quiet location close to cafes and only a 6-7min walk to Bondi beach. The room was just what we were after with everything you need. Michael the host was very friendly and helpful and even printed our tickets to an AFL match at the SCG while we were there. Would definitely recommend the accommodation to anybody staying in Bondi.
