Our experience in downtown Sutton was interesting! We arrived at the Elk River Hotel an hour before check in time, so we called the number that was left at the desk. No answer, so we walked to the Braxton Bistro for lunch. Was disappointed that we couldn’t order a beer after our long drive, but our food was good. We stopped at the General Store on the walk back and picked up some great finds at a reasonable cost! Disappointed that the Big Foot museum was closed on Sunday. A man was waiting for us at the hotel when we returned. He walked us to the Lily Pond room in a building at the end of the street. Cute place! We then searched for the bar that was advertised on a sign by the street on the hotel property. Again, not open because it was Sunday. We then checked out the rest of the property. We were able to relax out in the sun by the table on our little porch and chatted with other arriving guests. Left the next morning before breakfast, but was able to pick up some grab and go items for the road. Overall a decent stay, but will stay at hotel with an OPEN bar and restaurant in the future.
