Ocean Gem

House was as described with enough beds for our family. Bathrooms were updated and spacious. Wish the decks were larger - would give larger families like ours additional gathering space outside of the TV rooms. But the fact that there were two living room areas and two kitchens was a huge plus! Our VRBO host Dave was amazing and extremely quick to respond. Would definitely recommend this house!

Ideal location

Two floor two living quarters layout worked well for us. Location was ideal. Having to bring linens, towels, hand towels, etc. was a pain that we had not experienced before for a property at this price point. Cleaning service needs to be evaluated per my wife. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and communication with the owner.

We stayed at Ocean Daze oceanfront beach house on Holden Beach for a family vacation to celebrate my father's 80th birthday. Holden Beach is amazing and Ocean Daze is on the beach! The upstairs of this beach house is lovely. An important note: the description mentions, linens are not included and guests can bring their own linens or rent them. Since we live nearby, we chose to bring our own sheets and towels. I think this is important to mention in the review, as this detail could be missed if not read carefully. Our host, Dave was excellent in his communication via email through VRBO. Directions and check-in were easy. The convenience of being on the beach was perfect for all the family. We will definitely stay at Ocean Daze again.

Family Trip

This was a great experience. The host was great and made sure we had everything we needed. The house was clean when we arrived, the kitchen was fully stocked with kitchen appliances, we were provided with a small library, board games for family night, Roku TV’s in every room, and an Xbox (the teens were excited for that). The convenience of the beach right in the backyard made the stay 10x better (especially if you are with a large group) and, as we all know, trying to keep the sand out of the home is always a challenge but the host provides a fully body shower and a small shower to rinse your feet in the backyard which was a huge help. Just be fully aware that linens are not provided and you need to bring your own or rely on the linen rental service. If you are going to rent linens, be sure to place your order at least 24hrs before your stay. If you forget to pack linens or anything else, it’s okay because there is a Walmart about 15 mins away, a bunch of convenience stores, a walgreens, and food lion up the road. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and highly recommend.

At high end of expectations, but delivers 3/4 on satisfaction. Spaces are adequate but cramped at this price range. Towels and bedding omitted along with rudimentary beach items. Attention to details missing. Bug issue, while treated quickly should not be present. Porches and stairways need cleaning.

Family Time

Finding an ocean front home for our large family is not easy. This home had plenty of room for everyone but some of the amenities could be improved. There was not boardwalk to the beach. Even though there was a shower to rinse off sand, you still had to step back into the sand before you could come up the steps into the house. With 11 children, it was difficult to make sure to keep as much sand out of the house as was requested. And for a home this expensive we were all very surprised that bed linens were not provided.

Wouldn’t change a thing

After over 30 years of traveling together to various beaches as a family, I can say this is top 5 house for us. We had 19 travelers ranging from elderly to toddler age and everyone was happy and comfortable. The house is huge and very clean and up to date. The beach is right out the back door. The kitchens are stocked with utensils. There are several good restaurants in the area. There is a little park just down the street with a splash pad, play area, basketball, and pickle ball courts. Every single room has a tv. There is a great selection of tv channels and streaming services. There is an Xbox with games. Several books are available to read. Would definitely stay here again!

Few steps and on Beach

Easy access in property, few short steps and on beach, home was clean, beds are comfy, it is nice to have a bathroom off each bedroom, home is furnished nice, love having large TV's thru out we enjoyed movies in evening's, 2 kitchens and 2 living spaces was nice too! I would recommend the home and we would rent home again. We had a nice stay thank you for sharing your home.

Family vacation!

We loved the house and the beach was great. The only 2 things that bothered us were first, the several essential things that weren't included witht the house - such as beach chairs and umbrella, sheets, towels and even kitchen towels. Other rentals we've been to included all of those things. The second thing that bothered us was that there was no way provided to keep the sand from coming into the house thru the only entrance from the beach. We tried with towels on the floor, but without a real shower outside (one that is private and allows for removing bathing suits so as to get the stones and sand out) there was no way to prevent it. We felt threatened in the welcome letter not to allow the sand to get in the showers, the washing machine, or the floors or a substantial charge would be added. This was totally unreasonable. I suggest installing a better privacy wall around the outdoor shower so residents can do a thorough job of removing the sand before entering. Everything else about the stay was great.
