Fun Family Vacation

Description and pictures accurately describe property. Very clean and kitchen is well stocked. We had 4 couples and 4 children and enjoyed the different living areas that this home offered. Bonus cabin offered a nice quiet place for grandparents to stay. Enjoyed watching deer and her baby as well as turkey on property. We would stay here again.

Cabin trip round 3

This was the third year that my friends and I have stayed at this cabin. The first year we were celebrating my wife's 30th birthday and had so much fun that we decided to make it a yearly trip. We always enjoy staying here, there is enough room for everyone and a lot of outdoor space for us to be able to catch up and relax. This year we think we may have been the first group to stay for the season which was great other than there being some dead bugs throughout the cabin (which is expected given the seasons were just changing). It was a quick clean up and did not impact our trip whatsoever. We plan on coming back next year and for years to come.

The place was awesome! The listing didn't say the twin bed was in the separate cabin, so it wasn't as private as we were hoping. But overall, it was a lovely place and we would stay again.

Family Christmas

Beautiful property…wonderful place to have our kids and grandkids together for a family Christmas trip. We did expect it to be larger based on the photos/description. Beds and furniture were super comfy, ample supply of towels. Kitchen could use a few more things…seasoning, cooking spray, pot holders, etc. The oven didn’t seem to heat up well/completely. Kids thoroughly enjoyed the air hockey and hot tub. Us grandparents were thrilled to have our own private cabin to escape to…a little bummed the 2 twin beds were there, making it a bit less private so we made room for all kids/grandkids in the main cabin. LOVED the fact that we could bring our fur babies! Everyone had a wonderful trip in this beautiful place!

Beautiful fall

The house is layed out in such a way that is conducive to family gatherings and the setting is beautiful. Fire pit was well enjoyed as well as the decks. Only drawbacks were that shower water pressure was desirable and in the evenings there was a strong gas odor outdoors that prompted us to call.

Great family vacation spot

We loved staying here with our adult Children and a few friends. We took advantage of most of the amenities and cooked every night. The stove knobs were broken and the coffee maker is not a keurig so we had to go and get coffee at the gas station, but otherwise the kitchen was well stocked. I believe supplying extra towels for each room would be a good going forward since you Use them to shower and for the hot tub. We lost power a couple times but it was brief. We would absolutely stay here again.

Bachelorette weekend

We really enjoyed our stay and the property! We celebrated my daughter’s bachelorette weekend and this was such a perfect location!! Plenty of room for everyone and very cozy. We loved the hot tub, fire pit, and bonus cabin. Would definitely come back!!!

Birthday Celebration

It was in the woods so the porches and decks were covered with debris and the tables were dirty. We only used the fire pit area and the hot tub. The front door lock would not work. The inside of the main cabin was clean, but the adjacent cabin was not. It advertised 2 king beds but there was only one in the small cabin.

Better than expected!

My wife and i rented this property for our wedding. At first we were hesitant, but when we arrived our conerns were settled. We had plenty of room for our guests. The property, house and cabin were beautiful. The owners even suprised us with a bottle of champagne. The day before our wedding, a strong storm blew through and left a mess. I reached out to the property manager, and she had landscapers promptly come out and clean up the deck and surrounding area. Highly reccomend if you're looking for a property near hocking hills.

Weekend gathering for friends

This was our second year staying at this property for our weekend friends trip to hocking hills. We love this property, it’s always clean and stocked with all the amenities. Will definitely be planning to stay again next year!

Pretty Setting, Good Main House, Separate Cabin Not Ideal

We rented this property for a getaway for New Years with two families. The separate cabin was the biggest disappointment - 1) the water pressure is very bad which other reviewers have mentioned and 2) the smell was awful. It seems like it may have been musty and air fresheners were being used and were so strong, we all woke up feeling sick and then had to move to the main house which was unplanned. The main house is great for making meals and gathering around the large table (for eating, playing games/doing crafts, etc.). The bathroom set up isn't ideal for multiple families since three bedrooms are upstairs and share one full bath which shares space with the laundry area. And, then one half bath off the living room. The other bedroom is downstairs with a full bath. The bathroom doors are large sliders which we all commented didn't feel very private. For our situation, we knew we wanted a separate area where the kids could hang out and the downstairs with games and tv worked well. The main hang out space upstairs is surrounded by windows and was very cold during our stay. We made use of the hot tub and fire pit area. Unfortunately, two of the teens had "hot tub" rash following our stay. The alarm system requires some work to stop it from beeping. We have stayed in a lot of excellent properties and found this property was okay but not overwhelming. Our biggest frustration was poor communication from the property manager when we tried to offer feedback about our stay.

Fun Birthday Weekend

We stayed to celebrate a birthday with family. This place was amazing! We were able to enjoy the firepit and the outside grill. The number of bedrooms worked great for our large family and the bathrooms are nicely updated. The only issue was the water pressure in the back cottage. I would highly recommend this place!

Great place to stay!

We loved the property; scenic, spacious, lots of conveniences and peaceful. My husband and I stayed in the separate cabin to sleep while everyone else stayed in the main property. The bed was comfy and it was nice and spacious. We did have an issue with water pressure in the small cabin where the water dropped to a trickle in the shower mid-shower but that was the only issue there. In the main property friends mentioned the beds were a little too firm for them but everything else far outweighed it. Plenty of cookware, large table to eat or play games, though the chairs were not very comfortable. The kitchen was amazing! We made use the hot tub, which was nice as well as the fire pit. We would suggest putting tarps over the provided wood to help keep the wood dry, but we were able to dig through to find some dry wood to get things going. We also used the gas grill, but we’re a little concerned as there was a strong smell of gas while cooking. We were not certain if there was a leak somewhere or not but wanted to mention. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would stay again in the future.

Reunion happiness

Our family reunion was in late September with beautiful sunny, warm fall weather. This allowed us to spend the majority of our time on the deck. Most of our party were in their 60’s. The two steps leading from the first floor hallway and dining room into the kitchen do not have a railing. Our first evening, a member of our family was wearing socks and fell on the hardwood floor after stepping down resulting in a bruised ego. Another injury occurred from hitting the sliding barn door. She suffered a black eye. Several more times during the visit, the door came off the track. There were no bath towels in the basement nor bath mats and no sheets on one of the beds. We called the next morning and staff profusely apologized and was told that the situation would be rectified, and it was. Also the deck area was covered with leaves and firewood was lacking by the fire pit. The amenities listed on the website did not list a hand mixer. It did not work. Only one beater could be inserted, the second kept falling out. The Cusinart coffeemaker was slow. A Bunn coffeemaker would be a better. In better accommodations, a Kuerig is standard. A four slice toaster makes more sense. Overall, kitchen ware should be of commercial grade in our opinion. We appreciated a full compliment of flatware and did not have to worry about running out of clean silverware. Overall enjoyed our stay. The weather made up for minor inconveniences. We will consider Sugar Grove in the future.
