Welcome to The Merchant Quarters, your cheerful home base in the heart of Sturgeon Bay! Roll out of bed and right next door to one of the town’s most-loved diners—locals and visitors line up year-round for their breakfasts and lunches, so you’re officially set in the “good food” department.
Just two blocks away, the waterfront path invites you to stroll along the bay. Follow it over the bridge to the charming west-side shops, then loop back across the historic steel bridge to explore the boutiques and eateries on Historic 3rd Avenue. It’s the kind of stroll that turns into an adventure without even trying.
And the fun literally continues right outside your door. Every Wednesday, Martin Park comes alive with Music in the Park. Saturdays bring the bustling farmers market, which takes over portions of 3rd Avenue. Prefer a slower vibe? Head to Graham Park for waterfront yoga in the mornings (check out The Yoga Room for details).
As the day winds down, Graham Park becomes your go-to hangout spot—free ping pong, bean bags, chess, and some of the most stunning sunsets you’ll ever see. Pack a picnic, kick back, and let the colors do their thing. Or bring your favorite beverage (yep, it’s legal—welcome to our entertainment district!) and watch one of Door County’s iconic sunsets paint the sky.
The Merchant Quarters puts all of this at your fingertips—walkable charm, local flavor, and unforgettable moments from sunrise to sunset. Come stay where the fun truly is right out your front door.
Merchant Quarters is a private studio that you'll have complete access too.
Step into a slice of Sturgeon Bay history. This cozy retreat sits inside a beautifully preserved late-1880s building, originally crafted by a local woodworker whose talent still whispers through the space today. You’ll feel it the moment you see the stunning hand-selected wooden four-post bed—an homage to his craftsmanship and the era that shaped this charming property.
Every artwork and detail has been thoughtfully curated by the owner to honor the building’s story. This unit is part of the newly created Historic Larson Square condo association—an effort deeply committed to preserving Sturgeon Bay’s architectural legacy. And here’s a fun piece of trivia: two of the buildings on this property were moved here to save them from demolition, literally carrying history to safety.
If you're looking for charm, comfort, walkability, and a story worth sharing, welcome to your Sturgeon Bay home.
Parking: on street
Location, Location, Location.
This stay puts you right in the heart of downtown Sturgeon Bay — steps from local favorites, boutique shops, and one of the most beloved restaurants in town. Mornings here have a certain magic: coffee, pancakes, and lunch specials are literally just outside your door, in a walkable neighborhood buzzing with life.
The best part? No waiting, no driving, no planning. While others are circling for parking or standing in line, you're already there — stepping out like a local with built-in insider access to one of the most popular spots in the city.
The shared patio just outside your door is reserved for restaurant guests from 7am–2pm, but after that, it's all yours. Pull up a chair, pour an afternoon drink, deal out a card game, or simply sit back and watch one of Door County's famously gorgeous sunsets paint the sky.
Wednesday evenings bring Music in the Park right across the street — catch the live tunes from the park itself or kick back on the patio with a cold drink and let the music come to you. And on Saturday mornings, the farmers market rolls in just steps from your door — fresh, local, and delightful.
If you love being immersed in the energy of a real downtown — people-watching, exploring, and soaking up that perfect mix of lively days and laid-back evenings — this place is hard to beat.
Oh, and one more thing: the main property at Historic Larson Square is home to three adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Meet the crew — Billy, the tri-color distinguished elder statesman who's seen it all and carries himself accordingly; Sadie, the the ruby-colored mama bear who keeps everyone in line with equal parts warmth and wisdom; and Sprout, the black-and-tan little troublemaker of the bunch who hasn't met a mischief opportunity he didn't like.
They have their own cozy fenced space, but they are absolutely here for the attention — so if you spot them on your way in or out, feel free to stop and say hello. They'd love it.
