We were very excited to come and spend a long weekend getaway in Door County. When we found out that we had to check in a day earlier, I sent an email to the property manager explaining our situation that we needed to check in Thursday night. We received a response that this was ok, and when I inquired about how much extra it would cost, I was told nothing. When we arrived, we were told that they were not expecting us until Friday. When I showed them the email responses they still seemed to be confused. After what seemed like 15 minutes, I finally said that we were going to go get something to eat, and when I came back, I was hoping for a solution. We received the following solution: they had an apartment for rent, but that would cost us additional money. They waived the pet fee, and would provide us with a gift certificate for dinner at their adjoining restaurant. They would have the beach house ready for us the next day. Although the apartment was very nice, the steps for my disabled wife were a challenge. When we checked into the beach house the next day, we were underwhelmed. The beach house was very worn, blanket on the king size bed was torn, water pressure on the showers was well below standard, cracks in ceilings, and the WiFi so my kids could work on homework was terrible. Honestly, not worth the per night charge based on condition. In closing, I do appreciate that they provided us with a solution. The food and the service in the restaurant was very good, but honestly the whole experience left a bad impression.
