Many thanks
Very comfy and cosy house, it’s in a small village which isn’t clear but has a lovely back and front garden. Just a quick walk to the amazing beach The road I thought might be busy with 500 ers but they had to drive slowly so wasn’t noisy. Bring a sharp knife!

All fine for a family stay
Functional house to stay in, within close walking distance to the beach, which is great with young children. Everything worked in the property, though as of 2023 it is looking very tired. Note that the double room is separate to the other three, and the stairs to it are not suitable for young children.

Belle maison, très bon emplacement
Nous étions 2 couples avec 2 bébés + 1 adultes. Nous avons passé un très bon séjour. La maison a une superbe vue sur la mer.

Family Time
Had a great family holiday together. Location was excellent.Bathrooms in house could do with updating, although this has not put us off as we are by booking again for next year. Lovely house,very clean and comfortable.

Family stay
We came to visit the area that my husbands family is from & absolutely loved the house. We had lots of space and a fully stocked kitchen which was a great addition. We would highly recommend for families with kids!

A few minor issues
The main light in the bathroom at the bottom of the stairs did not work. The woodburning stove in the living room had no glass in the door, we did not light the fire as the temperature was sufficiently high for us to not need any heating on in the house, but this should probably be repaired for others. The window in the bedroom above the kitchen would not close and we did not want to force it. The hot tap not working in the bathroom off the kitchen was a bit annoying. We used a flan dish once and it developed a crack across the base but we did not mistreat it in any way. Apart from these items the house was really good and perfect for our short stay.

The bulb has been replaced. It was working at the time of your check-in. The glass on the stove is fine - perhaps it was too clean? The hot tap cannot be made to work without a complete refurbishment of the bathroom, as we have explained previously. The one in the kitchen and the other two bathrooms work fine (as does the shower). Occasional breakages are to be expected. Glad you enjoyed your stay.

Friends on a swimming trip
House was warm and very clean with a really wel-equipped kitchen and cosy living room. Overall plenty of space for 4 of us to hang out and also to have our own bedroom. The whole process was very smooth. Our only quibble was that a few of the mattresses could use replacing. Other than that a lovely house in a gorgeous location

Very nice cottage
Very nice property. Close to beautiful beaches. Beautiful views! Quiet. Old home. Spacious. Very well equipped kitchen. No wifi upstairs but that's because the house is so big. Would recommend.

Parfait pour découvrir les Highlands en famille
La villa Stoer est bien adaptée à un séjour en famille : spacieuse et bien équipée, à deux pas de la mer et des plages, au départ de belles randonnées au cœur de la lande écossaise à conclure par “a cup of tea” et “a piece of cake” dans un petit store accueillant.

Holiday in Stoer Villa
Insufficient towels provided. We have extensive experience of rental properties and have never had extra charges imposed for host fees, cleaning and service. We would have cancelled on discovering about them except that the location was ideal. These charges should have been publicised, and included in the original advertisement. I would not book with Vrbo again.

It is a really nice house
It was unfortunate that the WiFi wasn't working and it would have been better if we'd known beforehand. The house was everything we'd hoped for and we enjoyed it very much. We rent houses at least twice a year and this was excellent for the money A small pointer for the owner - it costs very little relatively to supply a wrap of loo rolls and it's very annoying to have to travel lots of miles before even the Monday to replenish the one in each loo. It's a small thing I know but it feels mean Otherwise great stay despite the weather.

Thank you for the feedback. We were informed by PostOffice that the WiFi was fixed, only to discover that the problem persists. After much wrangling, we concluded we need a different provider. Sorry the inconvenience. On the loo rolls we do put an extra roll in each bathroom.

Chaotic arrival.
On arrival the property was damp and cold, extremely uninviting after a long journey. Once we made contact with the caretaker, who had our arrival down as the next day, and sorted out the heating we were fine but the screen that needed us on arrival came close to us turning round abd travelling home.

Family holiday.
Stoer Villa was very clean and had everything you will need. There was plenty of space inside for 5 adults, two 6 years olds and 1 large dog! It is also just 5 mins walk from a fabulous beach which we managed to spend all our time there most days as our weather war really good. Would like to go back again.

October break
This house was perfect for our stay in Assynt. The location only involves a short distance of single track road so is accessible and the area is stunning. Loads of walks very near by and good provisions available in Lochinver. The house was very warm and the showers are always hot - the two most important things. Kitchen is well equipped and everything works well. Overall we loved our holiday and would recommend this property for families and groups.

Amazing location
A lovely house in a remote part of north-west Scotland that is well worth the lengthy drive. The house is well equipped and there is a superb (and largely quiet) beach just a couple of minutes walk away. Great walks and views from the front door, including the breathtaking trek from Stoer lighthouse to the Old Man. Can't wait to head back there again and explore more.

Remote beauty
The house is set in rugged sheep country - scenery just breathtaking. The check-in process was challenging. Access instructions were vague. We arrived near dusk and could not find the lockbox which was located behind the house. The lockbox itself was very tricky to open if the numbers were not Exactly lined up. It was raining, windy, and cold and my husband and a friend of owner FINALLY managed to get open. When we did get in, the house was cold. Heat was on but it took most of the night for it to get warm. There was a teaspoon of washing up liquid, no dishwasher soap, and approximately two 1/4 rolls of toilet paper in the entire house. Now this is self-catering, but considering the remoteness, I don’t think it’s too much to expect a couple of rolls of toilet paper and some dishwashing soap. The kitchen was well-equipped with pots and pans and dishes.

Our listing on the HomeAway site shows the correct location of the house and there are also detailed directions for drivers and for when you arrive at the house, including the position of the keybox. To avoid experiences like this, it is best to read the information provided. Apparently the keybox did have some dirt in the mechanism which has been cleaned. In my experience the house is quite warm (I personally put in the loft and ceiling insulation) and we have a lovely wood burning stove in the living room. Every radiator in the house also has its own thermostat, so if you close doors and turn up the heat, the rooms heat up quite quickly. However, we always turn down the radiators when the house is unoccupied to save fuel and the environment. We provide toilet paper in each of the three bathrooms - I am not sure why you did not find sufficient. I will check with the cleaner. We do not provide washing up liquid or dishwasher soap. As you noted, it is a self catering property.

great cottage in a great location
What a great cottage in a great location. The cottage was all we needed for our stay. Well equipped and provided all we needed for the nine of us to enjoy our holiday. Location amazing with a sandy beach just a few minutes walk away and so much to do. Well worth a visit.

An unforgettable holiday in fascinating surroundings
The house is very nice and offers high comfort. It is located in one of the most beautiful landscapes. We spend two weeks here with 4 adults and 5 Kids (5-10 years) and we all agreed that it was just great, but way too short!

Traditionelles Wohnhaus in großartiger Landschaft
Die "Stoer Villa" ist ein ortstypisches, dabei eher größeres, Wohnhaus auch für größere Familien oder Gruppen, das uns für ganze drei Wochen ein schönes Zuhause war. Es liegt auf einem ummauerten Grundstück inmitten des Weilers Stoer und ist durch die vor dem Haus entlangführende einspurige Straße, Teil einer von Wohnmobilen bemerkenswert stark frequentierten "scenic route", von Lochinver aus in etwa einer halben Stunde erreichbar. Vom Haus aus ist man nach wenigen hundert Metern sowohl am Meer mit eindrucksvollem Sandstrand (Stoer Bay, an zwei wärmeren Tagen haben einige von uns ein Bad gewagt) als auch in der umliegenden, menschenleeren Wildnis mit Schafweiden, Granitkuppen, unzähligen kleineren Seen und natürlich der Steilküste. Wir waren fasziniert von der Lage und haben sie ausgiebig für tägliche Wanderungen, gerne auch querfeldein, genutzt, haben dafür sogar auf durchaus mögliche Bergwanderungen in der weiteren Umgebung verzichtet und auch unsere Fahrräder stehen lassen. Das Haus ist sehr gut ausgestattet und in einwandfreiem, sauberen Zustand. Die geräumige Küche ergab einen natürlichen Mittelpunkt für die Familie, die vier Schlaf- und zwei Wohnräume ausreichende Rückzugsmöglichkeiten für unseren längeren Aufenthalt. Nicht zu vergessen: Die berüchtigten Mücken ließen sich kaum blicken! Alles in allem ein eindrucksvoller Urlaub, den wir nicht missen wollten!

Erholsamer Aufenthalt in gut eingerichtetem Haus
Wir haben uns gut erholt in diesem sehr gut eingerichteten Haus in unmittelbarer Nähe des Atlantiks. Das Haus ist sehr funktionell eingerichtet. Von dort aus konnten wir gut die herrliche Gegend erkunden. Buchung und Kontakt mit dem Besitzer waren sehr unkompliziert. Die Beschreibung entsprach dem, was wir vorgefunden haben.

Lovely cottage in a great place to get away
We arrived at Stoer knowing little of the area and a bit worried that we would be stuck indoors and fighting midgees. We were very pleasantly surprised. The villa itself is a lovely house and fitted our family of six easily. The house is well equipped and maintained with a lovely walled garden for the kids. We were very comfortable there! Stoer provided a surprising amount of things to do from beach life and rockpooling to archeological talks on the local broch. There are plenty of places to walk and lots of nice cafes and restaurants (the fresh crab at Kylesku was a favourite). We stayed for two weeks and only towards the end were we starting to have trouble finding things to do (the kids were happy on the beach regardless). My one tip would be to stock up on essentials at Ullapool as it is a long drive back. Lochinver store is well supplied but for more speciality items like giant sized nappies you may need Ullapool. Also if you are arriving on Saturday be aware that most shops and cafes are shuton Sunday. In conclusion I think it is likely we will be back!

Comfortable and well equipped house in beautiful location
We knew the area and wanted a house big enough for 8 adults. The house met our needs perfectly with enough bathrooms, a washing machine and a kitchen equipped for enthusiastic cooks! The house was very clean when we arrived and everything worked well. The sitting room was comfortable and we watched the olympics in the evening. There is plenty of outside space for parking and sitting outside. There is a beautiful beach a few minutes walk away, and even a small shop open in the summer within walking distance. The house is on a winding single track road about 7 miles from Lochinver. There are other houses close by and scattered along the road so it doesn't feel isolated, but you leave these behind in moments when you start walking. We went to the area mainly for the walking but one of our group took a mountain bike and we loved the swimming and fishing. We saw otters on our fist walk, and lots of seals.

A well equipped, nicely furnished and decorated, modernised house with character
Stoer Villa surpassed our expectations. The house, garden and location suited adults and children alike. The large kitchen area with tables and chairs to accommodate 8+ was the centre of most indoor activity. The dining room and sitting room enabled other quieter activities to take place. Bedroom arrangements suited us well and three bathrooms was more than adequate. We would like to return.
