We loved our stay at this condo! It located very close to the Thunderhead lift, and gives access to lots of the trails on the mountain - hiking and biking both, with was great for us. It is very well-kept, with beautiful gas fireplace. When we checked out we forgot travel toiletries bag, we reached out and they shipped it back to us same day.

Accommodations were clean and well kept. Access to pool and hot tub was easy. Would've been nice to have convenient access to free Steamboat bus transportation but property was located far up the mountain. Overall our experience was very pleasant.

Terrific Condo Near Thunderhead Lift

This two bedroom, two bath condo unit is in very good shape and well equipped. Property management folks were very responsive to any questions, and it was very clean. The walk to the base of the thunderhead lift my was 100 yards, which was not a problem at all. Overall, it’s an outstanding value.

The place was just a few min walk to the ski lift which is far away from the crowded base. So got to skiing right away with no waiting in long lines. The place has everything you need and more. We had a great time

Things you should know

Property is 10 minutes up a winding road from the ski area base. Built in the 70's, 3 flights of narrow stairs (think luggage and groceries), no air conditioning, on the street, and balconies over the parking lot. Hot if you are there in the summertime. No sleeping in because traffic and parking lot noise starts at 6am. Otherwise, beds comfortable enough, kitchen nice. Best part was the water pressure in the shower!

Great location, beautiful condo, excellent service

The condo was warm, clean, nicely decorated and provided plenty of room for a ski vacation for a family of five! Pool and hot tub were a very nice addition. Great location to slopes. ITrip was first class Amin helping us coordinate our stay and went above and beyond to help make our stay go very smoothly. The shuttle service was great! Thank you

Great way to avoid the crowds

I booked this particular condo to get away from the base. We have four kiddos between 10 and 16, and we did not want to manage them in the crowds. This place was perfect, easy access to the mountain without dealing with crowds. I was concerned looking at the photos that it might have been a little too far from the Thunderhead lift but none of our kids (who generally complain about everything) complained about the distance. It was a short walk, as soon as you think "I hope the lift is near" you see the lift. There's a little traffic on the road from other people staying in the Thunderhead area, and some shuttles drive up and drop people off at the lift. But overall there were very few vehicles on the road to Thunderhead. It was fairly cold when we were there, well below freezing at night and warming up to the twenties later in the day. The pool was still warm enough that it felt good to get into and the hot tub is large and nice. Only bummer about the hot tub was that the snow was a little too far away to put my drink in :) Everyone on this mountain was extremely friendly. We've skied all over North America but Steamboat felt genuinely different. We talked with countless people on the lifts and in the hot tub. The mountain was refreshingly welcoming. We walked to/from Thunderhead (you can leave your skis by the lift if you come in for lunch) each day. There may be a way to ski down to the base so you don't have to walk at all. We saw one person start to ski away from a path by the pool area. With our kids, we didn't want to risk getting lost in someone's backyard so we didn't try it, so I can't comment on the "ski out" potential. We really didn't need it anyway. The unit itself was fairly large and well laid out. The six of us fit with plenty of space to spare. The ski locker was convenient, right down the hallway. Each morning I would get the skis from the locker, put them at the top of the flight of stairs that leads to the road and the kids would take them from there. Overall, a great place to avoid crowds if that's what you're looking to do!

Great location - Nice pool

Overall, we enjoyed our stay here in Steamboat. But, there are a couple of caveats. If it is a hot summer you need to know this is on the third (top) floor and has NO air conditioning. We were sweating like crazy into the night despite using all the fans and carefully following the measures recommended for keeping the place cool. The mornings were fine after having all the windows open throughout the night. Also, took us two days to figure out that it wasn't the kids getting water on the kitchen floor, but the dishwasher leaking. Easy drive to base of Steamboat and to grocery stores. We would stay here again - in the Winter!
