I would highly, highly recommend staying at the Historic Berkeley, every attention to detail was met and was above and beyond. The luxury sheets and bedding alone was worth money for this stay. Lots of extras, including coffee in your room, water, cokes, and in the lobby there was gelato and snacks; extremely clean and a great location. Definitely will be going back for our next day soon!

This property was in a great location, such a lovely and well-maintained historic property. I think it would have been helpful to have an actual person or two on the site to provide assistance, answer questions, give recommendations about local restaurants, etc. I also think coffee makers using good coffee in rooms or lobby would be an improvement as the K-pods are sub-par, at best. The bedding, sheets and towels are of excellent quality though.

The property is beautiful! Everything you need has already been thought of and incredible quality. The beds and sheets are so comfortable. Huge showers with all the products you need. The decor is outstanding and meticulously clean. The town is quaint and completely walkable. Staying there was an experience of walking back in time.

We enjoyed every bit of this gorgeous property. We stayed in the penthouse suite and my teens were thrilled with how pretty and cozy it was. I hope we get to come back and soon!

Absolutely loved the complimentary snacks in the lobby and cold drinks in our room. Everything was clean and very high quality. My only complaint would be that while the vast windows were beautiful, the curtains were not easy to close. My 80 year old aunt stood on a rolling chair trying to shut the high drapes above her bed. Also there were no clocks in the room whatsoever. But overall I would say the good far outweighed the bad. Although parking on the small lot was was extremely tight and a bit scary the location was perfect. Close to pretty much everything and just a short drive to Shenandoah where you will not want to miss the sunset views.

BEWARE OF THE NON DISCLOSURE OF $80 CLEANING OR TOWEL FEES - ADDED AT CHECK OUT. We booked our stay through Expedia, where the apparent "$80 towel fee" was buried deep in the terms and conditions. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed the extra charge. After three days of going back and forth with Expedia & Historic Berkeley, I was finally able to get the cleaning fee refunded from Expedia, even though the monies were collected at the hotel. The hotel was apologetic but placed the blame on Expedia. Regardless of whose fault it was, fees like this should be clearly disclosed before booking, not discovered after checkout, especially since the Historic Berkeley has a 50% non refundable cancel. There are a few other things to be aware of as well. Guests are required to pay at checkout, the cancellation policy is extremely strict, and there is no on-site staff. All communication is handled by text message with a central support team. The listing also advertises free parking, but in reality there are only three very small first-come, first-served spaces behind the house. Most of the surrounding street parking is limited to two hours or requires a permit. What makes this especially disappointing is that I genuinely enjoyed the property itself. Our suite was beautiful, clean, and comfortable, and the Cozy Earth sheets were absolutely heavenly. It's unfortunate that the lack of transparency about the additional fees overshadowed what otherwise could have been a great stay.

Great for a weekend getaway

Wonderful last-minute find for a quick weekend stay in the area. This place is a perfect combination of the quiet privacy of a good B&B combined with conveniences of a more corporate hotel (easy self access, great amenities, honor bar, turnover services etc). Will definitely be staying again soon

Lovely room and very cozy location in this in-town vintage architecture residential area. Quiet breezes where birdsong and fragrance of small gardens abound. Several fine restaurants a short distance away.

Romantic Getaway Success

We really enjoyed the Statler for an anniversary getaway. The whole experience was great—the location is prime for Staunton’s downtown, the common areas of the house were well appointed and well stocked with various treats, the room was very spacious and comfortable, and they are very thoughtful about providing what you need to have a great stay. It is a historic house, so be prepared for creaky floors and for sound to bounce around the house in strange ways. But, again, they provided a sound machine to help with that!

Luxury experience

Lovely room with comfortable bed. Plush towels. A five-star experience. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. Just a note: No one on site (everything is self serve) and parking very tight.

The home is amazingly beautiful such craftmanship it has been restored beautifully. Our room was very comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful. The only thing was that the ice machine in the lobby was not working.
