Great view
The property was as advertised. Instructions were very clear. The views were amazing and the cabin was very clean. Everything provided was in working order. In the short time we were there we never saw other people, however there was one other occupied cabin very close by with two others under construction. This might not be ideal for anyone looking for a lot of privacy, our hot tub did not have any sort of privacy fence.

Beautiful view, quiet, and private
The grounds and cabin were immaculate and clean. We enjoyed the quiet and privacy. The view was stunning at dawn and at night. I would highly recommend this stay.

Absolutely Beautiful Views
My husband and I stayed in Cabin #5 for a long weekend. I can't express enough how wonderful the weekend was! The property, including the other cabins and grounds are so well cared for. The cabins are spaced out so there is no worry of being on top of other guests. The location is a short drive into town and about 20 minutes to the National Park. Honestly, the best part of our weekend was sitting on the porch in the rocking chairs watching the mountains, clouds and birds. The only item that was unfortunate was that there is no seating that is comfortable for watching TV. But we really didn't have much time for that anyway with the hot tub, swing and rocking chairs. Great stay - thank you!

Wonderful cabin in a beautiful location
We loved our stay. The cabin is small/cozy but the space is used extremely well. The deck area and outside campfire are wonderful. There is also a full kitchen, so we were able to cook dinner and have leftovers in the morning. The only negative of the experience was the pre-check-in process. While I can appreciate the need to convey accurate information, it comes across as overbearing when every potential misstep is accompanied by a threat of immediate evictions.

Thank you for your 5 star review. We are glad you had a nice time. We have been in this industry renting our cabins for 17 years now. Sometimes we have people ignore our rules about NO PETS, or choose to bring more people than they pay for. These are the only 2 reasons that will cause an immediate eviction.

A very nice little getaway!
My husband and I spent 3 nights here and it was a very nice little getaway. We really enjoyed the hot tub under the stars each night and gorgeous mountain views from the front porch rockers each day. The fire pit was a cozy feature. The kitchen had plenty of supplies for what we needed and the bathroom was spacious with dual shower heads/controls. The cabin was beautiful and it's a decent size. The property is gated and that was a nice security feature. The pond has a family of geese to greet you each day and is a peaceful picnic area. There is a quaint little diner just up the road that had a decent breakfast and friendly service. There are just a few things I think would increase overall comfort... While the mattress was comfortable, the space would nicely fit a king size bed and make it more accommodating for couples. A love seat or arm chairs at the foot of the bed with a coffee/side table would provide more comfortable and better positioned seating. The sleeper sofa was difficult to get out of as it sat very low and sagged to the middle, and was the only inside seating aside from two bar height stools. The A/C didnt keep up, so it was nearly 80 inside during the day, which was less than ideal. None of these are dealbreakers (except A/C in summer) as the property is lovely, just small touches I think would be well received by guests. We would certainly stay again!

Perfect get-a-way for couples =)
My husband and I simply wanted nothing more than to relax and take in the beautiful fall views. We had the best cabin #5 with the most amazing views a person could as for. The cabin was very cozy with a full kitchen. The gas fireplace crackled like a real fire which we loved. It was a little chilly for us to use the hot tub, but I would have loved it if it was a little warmer at night. We enjoyed some local shopping, and especially enjoyed the Hawskville diner. The cheese steaks out there are pretty good as well. We met the owner when he serviced the hot tub at the cabin next to ours and he was so very nice. This was a wonderful experience overall and we plan to return.

Beautiful Once We Found It
The property was beautiful, clean, and as described. We had a maintenance issue that was resolved quickly after a simple phone call. My husband and I were looking for a quiet weekend and this delivered in every way except for actual arrival at the cabin. We didn't realize that we need to sign documentation outside of VRBOs requirements until we were heading out the door and entering the address into the GPS. This was completely out fault because it was e-mailed to us immediately but was dismissed as a welcome letter. Upon printing, signing, and turning it to the owner we were sent the check in information. Unfortunately it was not clear during any of that exchange that the address listed in the VRBO website was inaccurate and a different address was included in the email that provided the access code. This detour to the wrong address added an hour to our drive time, significant frustration because of poor cell phone service in the area it took us to, and cut short our time at the cabin. I'm sure all of this could have been avoided if we hadn't been rushing to sign the additional leasing document, if the address on VRBO had been accurate, or if the email with the additional leasing document had highlighted, there was a different address.

If you are looking for a get away with the one you love, this is a good spot. We stayed in cabin 5 ( the best view of the mountains). There are other surrounding cabins but they are far enough apart to give you all the privacy you need.

Weekend getaway
My husband and I had the most amazing time in Luray, especially with the restful stay we had at the beautiful Hawksbill cabin. The entire property is so beautiful and everything is as described in the listing. You are close enough to town to easily enjoy all Luray has to offer…we especially loved the Hawksbill diner, which we ate breakfast at twice during our stay. The hosts were easy to reach for any questions we had. We will definitely be staying here again!

Cabin outside Luray
This was a delightful cabin for two nestled in the foothills outside Shenandoah National Park. The privacy was great and the hot tub was delightful on cool fall evenings. Close enough to towns that it isn't too inconvenient to get there for a meal or shopping. A great stay for a long weekend.

First trip to VA
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin no. 5. Quiet and clean with a beautiful view of the blue ridge mountains. Took a horseback riding trip with Jordan Hollow Stables and had a great time as well. Property is clean. If I had to say one thing about the accommodations. I do wish there were little things like coffee filters. Paper towels or aluminium foil. However, we did stop and get most things we needed within a few miles . Overall and beautiful place and a very nice stay. Thank you, from the Cavaliers

This property was exactly as advertised. We had a wonderful experience. The cabin was very clean, we felt safe, and it was close to all the of adventures we wanted to try. The view was absolutely stunning and the hot tub was perfect after a long day of hiking. I cannot recommend this cabin enough. We will definitely be going back!

This was the perfect getaway. Beautiful view, secluded, only a few other cabins on the private road. Woke up every morning to deer in the yard. After a day of hiking and visiting the area, the hot tub and fire pit were the perfect way to relax.

Beautiful location for our honeymoon
Quaint cabin, great view of the mountains, loved the hot tub! Wish there had been a few more dishes so we didn't have to wash everything after every other meal, but what was provided met our needs. The dual shower was fun in theory, but there rarely seemed to be enough hot water for two people to actually shower at once. We would have also liked to have the option to check out Sunday. Still, these are minor quibbles for what was a wonderful destination for our honeymoon.

Perfect Honeymoon
We stayed in cabin 5 for our honeymoon and it was just perfect! Everything was clean and functional. The views were just breathtaking and the cabin itself was lovely. We would definitely recommend going around the corner to Wisteria Farm and Vineyard. Bring a picnic and enjoy their unique wines. Booking and checking in and out of the cabin was a breeze as well.

Nice Weekend Getaway
This was a perfect location for a quick getaway. Cabin was clean and looked exactly as it did on line. Not very secluded (we didn't expect it to be) but we had plenty of privacy. If you're looking to be isolated, this location may not be for you. Linens were great, not low budget like I've seen in some other cabin's we've stayed at. The grill was clean and we really enjoyed the fire pit. We didn't use the hot tub but took a peak. Looked very clean. I'd definitely recommend if you aren't ready to truly rough it.

A little slice of heaven
We truly enjoyed our stay at Hawksbill Retreat. It was so cozy and comfortable and the Mountain View was just beautiful! Between Enjoying our coffee in the hot tub watching the sun come up over the mountains in the mornings and snuggling by the fire pit at night, we truly had an amazing time and will definitely come back again!

Thanksgiving in Virginia
My husband and 2 small children were visiting family for Thanksgiving and needed a place to stay at the last minute. The rental process went very smoothly and the property was just as advertised. Very clean, very cozy and with a great view of the surrounding area. We highly recommend a stay here -- especially if you're able to enjoy as a couple's getaway!
