"The lady that greeted us was lovely and she then told us where our room was. We hoped to eat in the hotel but was told that the chef had called in unable to cook. I tried to find out if we could get breakfast next morning but nobody came back to us. Nobody told us how to exit the building in an emergency and when we left the next morning at 9.45 we had to let ourselves out and leave the keys on the bar having seen no one! "The Castle House is very conveniently located and reasonably priced. Our room was gorgeous, including a wonderful tub for a relaxing bath and a huge, comfortable, fancy bed. Breakfast was delicious and packed lunches were available for us C2C hikers. Our only small gripe was that the hosts were not available in the evening to help us with laundry, but I would still recommend staying here!"

"Once I got my head past the idea that ‘this is not a Marriott’ I came to realize this is a great hotel. Room was comfortable. I was able to park right outside the hotel front door every night. Breakfast was good. The bar area is well presented with a good mix of locals and tourists to talk to. Room attended to daily. The local town is very pleasant. Some great coffee shops and pubs."

"Lovely place. This is a rustic place in the middle of nowhere and is fantastic! Worth all the travel. Staff were amazing. Food was superb. I had the giant Yorkshire pudding with beef bourginon. My room was lovely and the bed comfortable. A very welcoming place even for a single traveller like me. I’m definitely going back at some point! Brilliant"
