Anheuser-Busch Estate not Treasure Island
We stayed for a long weekend with family and friends at the Anheuser-Busch Estate. We had originally booked Treasure Island however after booking we noticed there were additional places to book at the same property and it was not a private residence or pool. I called and the management company was nice enough to offer another location that would be more private; the Anheuser-Bush Estate. This place has great potential but there were several issues. It is definitely a great spot from a location perspective and historical nature. However, the freezer in the kitchen did not work so there was another that we had to use downstairs and down the hall. The house had many issues with bugs. All sorts of roaches large and small were in the house as well as ants. My kids woke up with ants crawling on them. The biggest issue however was that it turned out the owner lives next door and has his friends use the dock outside. There is no way to access the dock from his house other than to open the gate to this house and walk right past the pool where my kids and I are. I did not feel this was ok as we had rented the property and having random strangers walking past family members without masks and unannounced was really not what I considered private. I called the management company and they answered but I was told this was ok as it was his house and I was told about it. I do not recall that being mentioned as I feel that detail would have been something I recalled. Unfortunately, this lead to some issues and discussion with the owner about the dock and made things strange from that point. I felt that if the house is rented then he should not use that dock that is attached to it but instead use the dock that he has right in front of his house. When it is not rented he can definitely use the dock as he would not be walking through the property while people are using it. As I said it has great potential as a property and the manager was very nice and extremely attentive and answered all calls but unfortunately I feel she is in a bad position to rent this house with an owner that feels like he should retain access to it even while rented.
